luv2sail7 Posted October 10, 2015 #1 Share Posted October 10, 2015 Disembarking in Honolulu and the ship shows arriving at 7am on a Monday. We will carry off luggage and want to catch the earliest flight possible out of HNL flying inter island, possibly Maui. Anyone have advice on the earliest time? Thanks in advance :)

maggie.1008 Posted October 11, 2015 #3 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Does the ship overnight in Honolulu ? If so you can get off anytime. We just did this last week.
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 11, 2015 #4 Share Posted October 11, 2015 What cruise line and itinerary are you sailing. I am assuming it's not an overnight based on you post. Again, please provide more specifics. Keith
luv2sail7 Posted October 11, 2015 Author #5 Share Posted October 11, 2015 Sorry - I originally had this posted on the Celebrity board and it was moved here. Traveling on the Solstice next year and we would have already cleared customs as cruise originates in Vancouver and then will go to Kona, Hilo and Lahania before disembarking in Honolulu - no overnight in Honolulu and we arrive at 7am. Getting ready to buy inter island airline tickets soon in order to extend the vacation a bit more. As mentioned earlier, it's a Monday when we arrive - not sure if that makes a difference and will carry off luggage on our own. Based on that, what would be the earliest flight time? Want to get to another island as early as possible. Again, thanks to all for your advice.
CruiserBruce Posted October 11, 2015 #6 Share Posted October 11, 2015 (edited) 11am would be the earliest I would book. You could go a little sooner, but that would just add stress. Are you able to carry your own bags off? Then grab a cab? Edited October 11, 2015 by CruiserBruce
Rare Keith1010 Posted October 11, 2015 #7 Share Posted October 11, 2015 CruiserBruce just took the words out of my mouth. I would book a flight no earlier than 11:00 AM and even might do 11:30 AM for a little more pad. Keith

Hawaiidan Posted October 12, 2015 #11 Share Posted October 12, 2015 Flights are almost every hour through out the day from 5 am to 8 pm Be prepared for fares of about 98.00 pp each way Prime time 9-12 can hit 180-200 pp each way Since Hawaiian became a monopoly it cost almost as much to fly from kona or Maui to Honolulu rt as it does to fly to LAX Used to live there.... tired of the ripoff. If you fly try to get a 1 way from HNL to your second island. Then your flight home from like Kona or Maui.Flying interisland to see 3 islands can cost as much or more that your ticket to the mainland... Don't try to do too much as it will cost you $$$$$ Even though flights are under 20-30 min figure 1 hour check in, 15 min car return, 20 min to get bags, 20 min to get car and almost an hour to get to your hotel/condo....... that's about 4 hours you have to consider, so get offtheship at 8 am and do a 10 am flight, however you will pay a fare premium of up to $100pp From Aloa towers cruise dock, its a 20min in morning traffic to the airport. Allow 1 hr check in figure $30 taxi fare

They currently charge $80.00 from HNL to OGG and fly pretty much throughout the day. Hawaiian wants $101.00 for the same route.
kenish Posted October 14, 2015 #14 Share Posted October 14, 2015 (edited) My first Hawaii trip was around 1980. Bought a LAX-HNL roundtrip (PanAm!) and used a longstanding promo where interisland was $5 per "hop" with the first leg out of HNL free. marco Posted October 15, 2015 #15 Share Posted October 15, 2015 If you're asking "what's the earliest flight I should book?", I would agree 11-ish. If you are asking "whats the earliest flight there is?" Just go to Expedia Kayak, or similar site and put in the departure airport, arrival airport, a date and see what comes up. It should tell you all of the flights there are and book accordingly, whether you use that site or not.

Bought a LAX-HNL roundtrip (PanAm!) and used a longstanding promo where interisland was $5 per "hop" with the first leg out of HNL free. 35 years later Hawaiian airlines and Matson Shipping have caused most all interisland airlines to go out of business and shut the door for any possible interisland sea passenger ferry. That's how Hawaiians business model is. Daily fares range from 101 to 230 pp each way !!! per island... Its a stacked deck.

Honolulu cruise ship arrivals show the Celebrity Solstice there on April 26, 2016. Using that date, Island Air offers multiple morning non-stops (for example) HNL-OGG (Maui) for $80.00 and Hawaiian Airlines for $94.00.
