Cruise Next Deposit

Just got off the Escape yesterday. While onboard we bought one cruise next deposit to be used for a Cruise on the Star in October. We purchased it through the TV and later that day we received a message to call the Cruise Next desk as they needed to speak to us to process the purchase.

We called and received a sales pitch trying to get us to purchase additional deposits but since we don't tend to stick to any one cruise line we declined and after some more pressure to buy more finally got the one we wanted purchased. The person we were dealing with told us we would receive an email confirmation but since we didn't have an Internet package we could not confirm this. We were charged for the deposit and received the $100 OBC but did not receive anything else.

Should've we have received an actual certificate or just an email with the details.

Who should I contact regarding this, I see there is a phone number for Cruise Next is that who I should call?

We bought one on Escape last week, too. So far we haven't received anything, but it's the same as last time we bought one on board, so we aren't worried about it. Wait a few days and check your online latitudes account if you don't get an email.

We were told to check our account online and that is exactly where we found our Cruise Next Credit applied to my account. So, when I was ready to book I just had my PCC use that as my deposit. :) You can use it online as your only deposit too though. We did not get any paper certificate or email though. :)

The sales pitch is really quite tacky. My mother-in-law bought a single certificate using the app. She got the exact same message followed by sales pitch to buy more. This was her first NCL cruise. It just came off so tacky. Hubby had discussed buying a couple certificates to give our sons but after the whole scenario played out with his mom he changed his mind.

We were also told we'd receive an email confirmation, but that never happened. They didn't show up in my ncl account right away either (5 days post cruise, they still weren't there even though we bought them a few nights in to a 9-night cruise). Called the Cruise Next department to confirm, and all was well.

We purchased certificates on the Escape 2 weeks ago. The confirmation with certificate numbers came in email about 4 days after the cruise ended and the certificates were posted to our MyNCL account.

Try not to bash the cruise consultants too much. It is their job to sell future cruises. Carolina, the current manager on the Escape is a really nice lady. We have cruised with her a few times (the prior time on the Jewel to Alaska last year).

I was a little put off by the pushy sales people when I tried to buy my certificate last week. The girl even went and got another lady to try to talk me into buying more. It was really out of hand. They kept saying, "You don't understand" over and over again, as they tried to sell me multiple certificates. I kept explaining to them that I fully understand the math, and I agree that in the long run buying more than one would save me more money; however, I only want to purchase one certificate. I probably said this to them 10 times or more. I finally had to insist they sell me the certificate or I was going to walk away right then with none. I told them they could sell me one or they could sell me none, but I was done discussing it.

you get a bigger bonus per certificate if you buy 2 or more.

instead of $100 obc each, you get $125 each when you buy 2+!!!

so in this case, the cruise consultants were actually trying to give you a better deal.

or has that changed? (it's been a year since I bought mine.)

That is still correct.

Last week's Breakaway - Bermuda sailing, the cruise consultant(s) on board had authorization from corporate HQ to sell up to 8 CruiseNext Certificates per passenger, it's limited to 4 per person (on paper, as "Sean" said) usually - paying half price for the full value of the certificate. In other words, it was explained that there's no need to worry about spending all that extra OBC.

If one purchased 4 CNC valued at $250 X 4 @ $1,000 - credit card used at check-in would be charged only $500 (initially, it's shown as $1,000 worth of CNC - but 50% of it was reversed at midnight after the charge was posted) Another fellow Platinum member on the BTST brought 8 CNC, faced valued at $2,000 and only paid/charged $1,000 to his credit card.

Our friends brought 2 CNC faced value at $500 on Thursday and it was quickly processed, by Friday morning - he checked their Onboard Account on the iConcierge App, it showed only $250 billed to his credit card - listing is for 2 certificates at $250 each. Discount for 1st. certificate is only $100, 2nd. one is for $150 in credit. Furthermore, it's valid for casino players to pay NCF or what's now called NCL admin fees (for taxes, port fees, etc.)

For select sailings with promotions running, more than one certificate can be applied - if allowed by NCL, just need to ask & check the website/emails, etc. - as explained by Sean (Martin V. is the other CruiseNext Mgr. on BA)

Right. But not everyone wants or needs more than 1 certificate. In the next 4 years my in-laws have many other trips in the works. Only 1 certificate would be of use. It's when you get a message alluding to some issue with a purchase that needs to be discussed only to get pressure sales tactics over the phone. I was sitting next to her when she made the call. I could hear every word. It was really odd. You shouldn't need to say no-thank-you politely over and over and over dodging every angle repeatedly. If you don't need something, no amount of badgering can make it a value. I get that it's a better "deal" but only if you are going to use both. If not, the 2nd certificate is useless.

Bought 2 of them when we were on the Escape 4 weeks ago. I don't remember even getting an email re: the purchase. I called NCL to make a reservation for a cruise in Sept and they had it in their records that I had purchased 2 of them. I used 1 of them. Try calling the NCL number on their website and see if one of their agents can check to see that you do have one of the Next Cruise certificates.

We bought two in December. They're good for four years. We used one for our CAS-comped Gateway cruise departing this Sunday. They charged the $500 to our onboard account but immediately credited back $250, so our cash outlay was only $250.

If you can't use them, remember that they are transferable, so you can sell them or gift them to some well-deserving CCer. ;)

I sailed on the Dawn last month and bought 4 of these. The sales agent told me that NCL sometimes runs a special where you can use 2 cruise next deposits for 1 cruise booking. Anyone ever heard or done this? Thanks.

Yes, I heard that when I was on the Escape 4 weeks ago and I bought 2 of them. I think there was a caveat that said you could use 2 of them if you were booking and taking a cruise by Aug 31st of this year. My next cruise is Sept 3rd so I missed that by a few days.

Yes, I've seen the promotion run a couple of times in the past year. Not a normal perk. Not run too often.

I had purchased two Cruise Next Deposits when i was on the Gem last November... that evening in my room i had an envelope with a letter and confirmation code to use on future cruises... I did not have to wait for an email to come through about the Deposits.

I am going on the Escape in September, and the Getaway in December...I think when i go on the Getaway, i will purchase one more Cruise Next Deposit...but no more than one...I have to agree with all of you, that the cruise consulant onboard the ships are very pushy...I had only purchased two deposits, as i had alot of OBC and i knew i wasn't going to be spending all of it...and instead of buying a lot of soveniors, i wanted to put the money into something that i could use again... When i was in the cruise consulant's office, i felt that i was being pushed into buying a timeshare...that is how pushy they were... but this time, i will buy one, if they keep on pushing, then its their loss, as i will walk right out of the office....These people have to be working on a commission, to be so pushy

Everyone has a job. From the McDonalds drive thru person who is suppose to upsell French fries size to sell Apple pies,,, to the cruise consultant. It may come across as pushy, but people should understand and tolerate the sale pitch. There are so many ways to take advantage of the discount that doesn't involve sitting through the sales pitch. Fill out the form, use your stateroom tv, use iConcierge. If they call you, immediately excuse yourself and hang up. You have total control. If you insist on going to the desk, tune out for a few minutes and enjoy your discount.
