Diamond drink voucher update?

As stated on the board a few weeks back, one of the veteran members here e-mailed RCI and was told that it was only a trial run for now, with a few sailings participating. These sailings have since passed. Yesterday a cruiser returning from Jewel stated the Diamond Event was held in the Vortex Lounge as usual, no vouchers.

Just got of Independence and no drink vouchers; however, a lovely time was had in the Olive and Twist.

Sent using the Cruise Critic forums app

That's strange. I was on the 4/6 sailing of Independence and had 3 drink vouchers on my card each day. Since I was traveling with non-Diamonds it was nice to be able to get my drinks anywhere on the ship(except the dining room and Windjammer).

Is this a new addition? Or is it just on some ships?

I sailed on Radiance in January and we just went to the Diamond lounge every night from 5.30 and got as many drinks as we wanted there? No mention of drinks on your card

This is a new feature that was tested recently, and seems to be spreading to more ships. So far, it's been in addition to the lounges. In other words, having the drinks on your SeaPass card does not reduce or eliminate access to the lounges.

I would love to have the vouchers because you can't Bailey's in the DL. But usually our waiter gets me one or two about the 3rd day.

Do they use the vouchers in the DL as well as in the other venues?

The vouchers are not needed in the DL since drinks are free there. You only use the vouchers outside the DL.

As the OP asked about Brilliance: I was on the Brilliance from April 12 - 17. Diamond Lounge was not crowded and we did not need vouchers. Very nice servers and Diamond host. We mostly drink wine, but also had Cosmopolitans a couple of times. Also, they had hot appetizers that were self service. When there was a slightly larger group, we spread out into the Sky Club that was right next door.

It may be that there were relatively few Diamond members on this shorter cruise, so no need for vouchers. We also like the social aspect of the diamond lounge as you see the same people and chat with them.

Weren't there any non-alcoholic drinks on the list?

We always pay for the soda package. I would have hoped there was some non-alcoholic wine and beer on the list as well as possibly the non-alcoholic drinks listed in the bar menu (although I know the frozen drinks are not included). It only seems fair to offer comparable types of drinks.

We have often been able to get the non-alcoholic wine in the CL and sometimes even the non-alcoholic beer.

The vouchers were loaded on my card as mentioned by other posters, but be very aware of the time when ordering. I ordered a glass of wine in the casino at 7:50 and it was delivered at 8:10 - with a charge of $8! The server said it was the computer that messed up, but I think she was playing a game for tips. The bar was not that busy. ( I was on a winning machine and lost track of time.). I will definitely report this on my questionnaire when I receive it.

In all fairness, this was the only negative experience I had with the program. It worked fine every other time I used it. And I did not order anything else from that server.

Nov. 2 TA on independence was using the vouchers and it worked great for us. The DL was packed almost to the point of not being able to move, and as our first cruise as Diamonds, we were really looking forward to the DL. We mostly went there during the day for espresso and specialty coffee, and a couple of evenings when we braved the crowd but mostly went to the large lounge and made friends with a bartender there who great and always happy to serve our drinks, matter of fact he quit charging my vouchers after the 2nd night and knew me by sight after that.

Hope theya re still issuing on our upcoming Navigator cruise this. Saw the earlier psot that they were on the April 6 sailing.

Was on Oasis 4/12-19 and when I checked my C&A benefits on the TV, the last page listed each day and a 5-8 C&A drink. I wondered if it was the coupons that everyone was talking about, so we stopped by the LA desk to ask. He told me that that was discontinued, it shouldn't have been showing on my TV (and it was on both mine and mom's) and he would notify someone.

Next day, both of our TVs are giving an error message when we try to check C&A benefits for our tier. Figured rather than take them out, they just disabled the entire system.

Never made it to the DL (and it was my first time too) and mom, as a new D+, never got to the CL. Oh, well. Maybe next time.
