  1. The Epic was the first NCL ship to have a Cavern Club for entertainment. So, yes, there will be a Beatles tribute band onboard.
  2. 3. Have a wonderful cruise on the Allure. Make sure to use up that OBC!
  4. Like the sign says, if you don't see something, just ask and they will make it.
  5. 1. No. The free tour is for people having Platinum or above status. If you are platinum, sign up at the Cruise Next Desk in the Atrium (Deck 6 mid-ship) on embarkation day. The tour will sell out. If you are above Platinum, you can also sign up for other perks at Cruise Next. 2. As soon as you embark, go to The Social (Deck 6 mid-ship) to complete your entertainment reservations (Comedy Shows (early shows family oriented, late shows 18+), Choir of Man), Canvas by U painting classes, go karts, laser tag). Then go across the hall to Teppanyaki (Deck 6 mid-ship) to make your dining reservations.
  6. You need to watch it once. Your viewing is not tracked. You want to be able to honestly say that you watched it when you show up at your muster station.
  7. The sauna, steam room, and cold plunge are in the locker room. The Pool (which is just a large jacuzzi), hot tub (which is a small jacuzzi), and stone loungers are in the coed section. Clothing is optional in the locker rooms -- lots of jiggly bits in there. You need to have a bathing suit on in the coed area. Sauna, Steam, Cold Plunge,,,, Pool or Hot Tub,,, stone lounger.
  8. GS would not punch your card because if you punch the card, it won't work any longer.
  9. Hardy a bait and switch, especially when you are getting a comp'ed cruise.

  11. The problem that NCL had was that there were not "many of us" or "many people" using the late buffet. There were a "few" people who actually ate late at night (and a lot were crew... who now have to use the crew mess). Me, yup, I am at Sorentos at 11:30 and was at the NCL Buffet at 11:30 every night. Now it's a decision on whether we need that 4th (or 5th) meal of the day.
  12. Please don't bring any device with a heating element. It is a fire hazard and will be confiscated. They use Hamilton Beach single serves.
  13. Buffet closing times were moved from 11:30 to 9:00ish (no late night snacks) in November. There were very few people using the buffet later and most of the food was going down the grinder to become fish food. O'Sheehan's / The Local are open for 24/7 foods snacks (there are a couple of gaps when they are changing over between services).
  14. The Bliss never had Moderno lunches because it does not have a Moderno. Some of the older big ships would take advantage of the fact that Moderno had a chilled salad bar that they could set up a lunch on. For food safety, you cant just stick refrigerated food items (like salads and dressing) on a folding table and serve.
  15. There are over 1500 staterooms that could potentially bid on a Haven upgrade. There will likely be a very small number Haven rooms available for upgrade. The probability of winning a bid is very very very very small (close to 0%). So, if you want that Haven experience,,, and it is a wonderful experience, buy your way up to the Haven.
  16. First and foremost, don't believe everything you read on the internet. It is mostly fake news put out be people who feel empowered by being able to complain about things anonymous. Many have not cruised in a long time. We sail on NCL and Royal 6-8 times a year. You are booked on a mainstream cruise line. Not on a luxury cruise line or a yacht. Food on NCL is probably at or above average. NCL continues to try an evolve their menus to meet the tastes of the contemporary cruiser. Lots of people complain that fish fingers and mac-n-cheese were removed from the menu (there was literally a long thread a couple of months ago about mac-n-cheese)... because no one was ordering it. So, you are likely going to see Pho as the soup on the menu versus chicken noodle. Cuban pulled pork instead of ham-n-cheese. Both the Spirit and POA are smaller ships and have traditional cruise ship entertainment (i.e., not big broadway productions). I have not seen blazing boots. Elements is one of NCL's premiere production shows and it is a great show! The Spirit recently underwent a total overhaul. The public areas of the ship were stripped down to the deck plates and rebuilt to modern, contemporary standards. So, the ship is new and fresh. It will have traditional cruising entertainment day and night (i.e., no go karts and no virtual reality pavilions.) As far as 5 sea days straight, that's the itinerary you picked. I don't think that there would be any "more" things to occupy your time on another line. The activities on any line are wake up, eat breakfast, sit in sun, eat lunch, take a nap, eat dinner, go to a show, sleep. POA is the absolute best way of seeing Hawaii. No time lost crossing the Pacific like other lines. 7 days, in port every day, 2 overnight port calls allowing you to see the most of Hawaii. On thing is that since Hawaii does not allow gambling and you never leave Hawaii, there is no casino onboard. We sailed on NCL last month. We sail on NCL this month. We sail on RCCL in July. They are all about the same. We prefer NCL because they continue to innovate and evolve their product. Change is difficult for people and gives them a chance to complain about things. At one point, fish fingers left the lunch menu and poached salmon was added to the menu,,, people complained. Poached salmon was removed and baked tilapia was added,,, people complained. People just like to complain. Filet and eggs was removed from the suites breakfast menu and replace with NY Strip steak and eggs,,, the world has come to an end (I actually like the strip steak better because it is bigger - more meat).
  17. Your aunt cancels and files an insurance claim. It is critical that she understand exactly what documentation she needs. It is more than a simple note from a doctor. The doctor needs to complete paperwork.
  18. Use the cruise line transfer. Costs a bit more with multiple people, but you have someone to take care of you along the way.
  19. Yes, but it was just a mini buffet with a country theme. Food Republic, Pinchos, and sushi are true specialty restaurants open on sea days. Teppanyaki on a few small ships too.
  20. Yes getting into Syd’s would be hard,,, because there is no Syd’s on the Escape.
  21. NCL RFID cards have chips/antenna, magnetic stripes, and a bar code (all three) so that it can be used on doors, iPad readers used by waiters, points of sale, hand scanners.
  22. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet. It is all Fake News. People like to complain anonymously because it makes them feel empowered. We have sailed on the Escape 5 times and have another cruise on the Escape scheduled soon. We were on the Encore last month and it sailed over 120% capacity. After 2 years, it felt like cruising is getting back to “normal”. And we had a great time. Do you have to wait for an elevator from time to time,,, sure. That is “normal” cruising on any cruise line. Did we try to get into every show,,, no, but that, too, is normal,,, you need to plan and can’t just walk at show time. Go on your cruise. Enjoy your cruise. We will soon!
