  1. Once again, welcome to the forum...and....Carnival. They are VERY good at publishing VERY obtuse, cryptic emails....left to decipher for yourself. If nothing else, it makes for a good mental exercise. But I applaud you for coming here & asking good, valid questions.! 👍
  2. Because some people, like my wife & I put a priority on a balcony cabin...that's why. I'm sure some people will agree with me.
  3. That's Cathy Lee?? Are you sure? She looks just like Jeff's wife. No offense Jeff! I think she's beautiful! (and BAD parody Blart)
  4. Welcome to the forum! Glad to have you with us. Regarding the hub app....it's only useful, AFTER you board ship. Prior to sailing it has no other useful purpose, other than a count down timer. To book specialty dining reservations, they must be made from home after you log on to the website.
  5. I've never ever met a wine that I didn't like. *hic*
  6. And why is that so important to you? Us cruisers are getting what we want. Who cares who does it first. Who's on first....remember that?
  7. Thank you. I've been told that I was, all my life.
  8. Why? Are you jealous? All you have to do is go on a bunch of cruises, and you too can claim your 'elitist' status.
  9. Doh! I just had a senior's moment! Sorry!! I meant to say 8 day on the Dream on Sept. 24.
  10. Ours is an 8 day on the Vista leaving Sept. 24, on an Eastern Caribbean itin.
  11. Excellent news! It was bound to happen sooner or later. This came sooner than I expected. Now if they could just drop the testing requirement for cruises greater than 6 days before September 24, I'll be dancing in the isles! Thanks for posting! 👍
  12. It's always been that way. At least since I've been a member for 13 years. Every single day.
  13. Almost but not quite. The SPR is called upon during times of petroleum supply disruptions. But there's more. The SPR has been called upon many times since its inception back in 1975. For an in-depth analysis of the SPR, here's an interesting read from the CATO Institute: https://www.cato.org/blog/strategic-petroleum-reserve-was-never-used-strategically-1
  14. There are more job openings than people to fill them. Almost every store I go to has a "help wanted" sign on the front door. The unemployment rate in Texas alone is 3.6%. For the entire United States is 4.6%. With an unemployment rate that low, it meets the definition of "full employment." A simple google of "unemployment rate' gave me those results.
  15. That's what we have done on every cruise. works great.
  16. Congratulations! We've not seen anything like that as of yet. Enjoy your cruise!
  17. Agreed, that is one indicator. But, it's not a reliable one, IMHO. Because numbers are not stated. And I sure don't want to get into a numbers debate.
  18. I'm all for bringing it back....but....but...I don't see Carnival bringing back for quite a while....at least until things return back to 'normal operations". By that I mean the discontinuing of the testing; the fully staffing of the crew, in all categories; discontinuing of the deeply discounted cruise fares, etc, etc, etc ad nauseum. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
  19. Maybe that needs to be my new, go to bar, when all the popular bars are slammed. Thanks!
  20. No, the TESTING requirement should be the first to go, as most people ARE fully vaccinated.
  21. I've not heard of any way to check on capacity, before boarding. After you get on board, several CC members have found out numbers from either the CD, Guest Services, or their cabin steward. It's really hit & miss.
