  1. Did they offer prime rib on the second formal night? I'm booked Thanksgiving next year and hope it's a nice menu. I like turkey and would not be disappointed, but I like prime rib more. I just hope lobster is not kicked off, may have have to riot! And we know how to have a right-proper riot, being from California and all. 😄
  2. I tend to agree with this, I think it's mostly empty threats from busy bodies who are probably complainers anyway, if they're throwing that kind of tantrum over smelling a little pot smoke. Could be a good thing, maybe the pot smoke acts as some kind of complainer repellent. 😁
  3. It works for me without keeping the cabinet open as long as I pull it forward far enough. Plus, It's a tripping/bumping hazard with the door open. I can see why others do it and it makes sense, I just haven't found it necessary.
  4. No need to carry anything around, it can be left in the cabin and only used to request a table after getting ready, use the QR codes in the cabin, check billing, ship info etc. A wifi device of some kind is very useful, even if left in the cabin.
  5. What is pressed turkey? You talking about boneless turkey roast with mixed white and dark meat? I bought a bunch of those one year on special and they were delicious, heck, I only buy the whole turkey's because the stores offer them so cheaply during the holidays ($5-$7) and stick a few in the freezer. I actually prefer the turkey roasts (or a bunch of turkey legs/thighs), I don't really like the white meat much because it's usually dry, even if you cook it perfectly and pull it right on time, you only have a very small window when the white meat is supple/moist, after that it's better off in a sandwich slathered with mayo and cranberry sauce.
  6. It doesn't have to be a "smartphone", you can bring any wifi enabled device and it would work, even a tablet/reading device that you leave in your cabin and only use to request a table. I'd suggest picking up a cheap phone, you can find one dirt cheap these days from walmart, ebay, amazon/amazon warehouse deals and the like, for next to nothing. It's also good to have in an emergency if you need to call the ship (during an excursion)/local authorities, many times you can use wifi calling and don't even need a cellular plan if you have google voice set up (free). Just think of it as a small wifi/saftey device and not a "smartphone" if it helps you feel better about it lol. Heck, plenty of friends/family probably have a bunch in drawers they would gladly give you for free.
  7. If you haven't sailed Carnival in a while I have a good tip. People often ask for ice because they say that their fridge doesn't work well but they actually work quite well, it's just that they get pushed back in the cabinet that holds them. Pull it forward as far as it will go (so that the door just closes) and it will work very well and your beverages will be very cold. Have a great cruise!
  8. I was talking to a passenger on our last cruise who was sailing with Carnival again, who usually sails with Princess, because the crowd was just too old for her and her husband. She was a mature lady herself and said she was tired of all the walkers and wheelchairs and the fact that the ships were low energy and everything died out early. It was her first cruise back in 10 years and she liked the energy on the Carnival ship and was enjoying herself. It was an interesting discussion because I've been wanting to do some Princess cruising but I'd be disappointed if it were a sleepy cruise, not a lot of families and a nice mix of all ages, made me appreciate Carnival a bit more lol. Sure, it's gets a little crazy sometimes but it's certainly a fun and interesting crowd. People always talk like it's just crappy food, people fighting all over the place, people throwing up everywhere and a ship full of drunken zombies. I don't understand the hate and feel much of it is unfair, Royal may have classier ships but the pool of passengers is much the same.
  9. Try the fried broccoli if they have it one day, the missing tooth mukbanger dude turned me on to it and it was dang tasty!
  10. Thank goodness, that may make me want to downgrade lol. That's just weird and too fancy pants for me. I ain't Ricky silver spoons, heck, I don't think I've ever eaten with a real silver spoon for that matter. 😄
  11. If it's a must, you can rent a satellite phone, you'll then not have to worry about any connectivity problems, even while away from ports. Check here: https://satellitephonestore.com/catalog/rent
  12. Congrats! That's awesome! Sometimes, you can just log in and it will be on your Carnival account as well, in your cruise planner. Enjoy your cruise lucky duck!
  13. More people are making the switch, or a least to vape pens at min, no sense in smoking flowers and harming your lungs and walk around smelling funky lol. Hopefully, more cruisers do too, it will happen, I don't know many folks who smoke regular cigarettes anymore even, most have switched to vaping for the same reasons, stench and lungs (and costs). I suspect we'll hear less and less about this problem as time marches on; plus, Carnival is cracking down on the cabin/balcony herb smoking IMO, and from what I've observed.
  14. Ah, that explains it lol. Thanks for the info, much appreciated, I anticipate being at Pig and Anchor a time or two 🍺 so I'll be sure to try it if it's available still.
  15. Seriously? The computer/phone you are typing on and the programming code that allows all this to happen is thanks to pot heads lol. It's huge in tech, they quit testing for it years ago because they kept losing too many of the best and brightest. In the early days, it was more than pot/booze, you don't stay up doing marathon coding sessions on coffee alone 😁. Things have mellowed since the early days and the office kegs and bars are largely gone but the herbalism is still very much a thing and these folks make bank and aren't low income. That's laughable.
  16. I didn't see the tots on Miracle but tried the burger and it was enjoyable. I didn't ask for the tots at guys and didn't see a sign either so I'm not sure where to get them. On Panorama again next and will be sure to BOLO for the tots.
  17. Plenty of bacon on the ships. There are also plenty of things I'm not buying right now either, I went to the store the other day and everything was stocked and full, everything looked great, overflowing even. I left most of it there on the shelf because it looked much better on the shelf than in my cart at the inflated prices. Some other sucker can buy it or they can dump it when it doesn't sell.
  18. I prefer starboard but have no problem with port side. It seems to work out better for us on our particular preferred cruises.
  19. I feel they have been enforcing some changes for sure. We used to smell it in the hallways a lot and balconies but it seems they have been cracking down on that. Personally, I don't care if folks partake in the smoking areas and I doubt any efforts to curtail it entirely would be worth the trouble/hassle, however, I have noticed that folks aren't smoking flowers in the staterooms and balconies, this is appreciated and something that can be curtailed. I've noticed a big difference and there was even a family on out most recent cruise that ended up sitting next to us at dinner, who were loudly talking about Carnival fining them (or attempting to) $500 for smoking on their balcony and leaving ashes/evidence behind. Actually, I don't even care much about the balconies (I know others do), it's the blowing out the cabins and hallways that I'm glad to see they have eliminated, in my experience anyway. It seems they are also focusing on balconies as well and it's something I've noticed. Take it to the smoking section or get some edibles or a vape pen, folks don't want to smell it all over the ship, especially in the cabin areas, and by extension, the balconies.
  20. Indeed, watching the 49ers win the NFC championship in 2020 on Pamorama while in the middle of the ocean was probably the funnest game I ever watched socially. It was awesome and everyone was so energetic and friendly, even fans from opposing sides, something I'll never forget.
  21. This is a huge problem, on some ships it's simply unworkable and creates bottlenecks and crowds. The big games should really be on lido screens in addition to the bars, even if they turn the sound off and bump music instead. They really only need the sound for big games like playoffs, championship and super bowl games. I'd rather see it at least vs not seeing and only having music, win-win and those who prefer to hear the announcers can choose inside locations to spread folks out.
  22. The golf carts are certainly still there and a much better option but http://www.cityofavalon.com/transit in case you don't want to deal with that.
  23. Indeed, I saw a guy rise out and refill his travel bottle at the water station, then rinsed his hands off and then used the water to pat some on his neck to cool off, all at the community water station 🤢. Some people, I tell ya 😡. This is why we can't have nice things.
  24. Be careful with this, you need to understand pre-existing conditon coverage and lookback periods, buying last min could jeopardize some of this coverage, something as simple as adjusting meds. It's important to know these periods for each policy, the time-frames vary per policy. There really is not a best policy, the one that offers the coverage you want/need, at the lowest price and without mumbojumbo exclusions is the best. The cruiseline insurance is usually the worst option unless you're up there in age, there are various search engines like insuremytrip and such that do comparisons for base prices and then you can finalize with addons or additional coverage.
  25. All the ships have them and they can be checked out from kids clubs and then returned prior to disembarkation. It's a courtesy, not a custom pack, most folks bring their own stuff and may supplement with the packs and also for those who brought nothing entirely or forgot. They run this information on the cabin TV's.
