Wait to book on Friday?
cruiseguy1016 replied to RCCLNYMETS41's topic in Royal Caribbean International
If you are past final payment date, you are not supposed to be eligible for a price reduction. The option would be to move to a better cabin that may now also be priced lower. -
How soon can you go to your cabin after check in
cruiseguy1016 replied to JOHN 57's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The rooms used to always be ready ay 1:00. With the additional cleaning required with Covid, that time got pushed back to 2:00. It was 2:00 the last time I cruise in March. Are they starting to move back to the 1:00 time? -
Tendered port question
cruiseguy1016 replied to Thisguylikestocruise's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Technically the tenders are not necessarily part of the excursion. They do get you to shore, where you will board your bus (if that's the type of excursion you're taking) to start your excursion. Once the bus(?) returns, you are free to wander around the port and take any tender that is heading back to the ship. -
Do they still send table request confirmation
cruiseguy1016 replied to mcatmcat's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I have gotten a response every time I have sent a request. We only cruise once a year so I don't do it as often as some others. I just sent one a couple days ago. I'll report back if/when I receive a response. -
Not always. Changing times is at the sole discretion of the captain. I have been on cruises where the captain does not change the ship time to local time.

Platinum Balcony Discount
cruiseguy1016 replied to Epinz300's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The balcony discount will only apply to the room that the Platinum member is staying in. You cannot use it for other rooms. The same goes for the senior discount, only the room the senior is in qualifies. -
I disagree. My pocket is the easiest way to carry the card.

He has a knack for that.

Deluxe Drink Package Deals
cruiseguy1016 replied to laura.merks's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We've been to all of those ports so we may stay on the ship for a few days. At $14/drink, that's only 5 a day to break even. As a Diamond member, I get 4 drinks a day so I probably won't get the package. The couple we're traveling with aren't Diamond so they may want to purchase it. -
Deluxe Drink Package Deals
cruiseguy1016 replied to laura.merks's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I'm sailing on Voyager Feb. 26th. The DBP is $55.99. With the 18% gratuity, it's $66.08. That's the lowest I've seen it in a long time. -
Diamond vouchers with the new drink prices
cruiseguy1016 replied to maxsales's topic in Royal Caribbean International
On the first day, there will be 4 drinks loaded on your card when you board. At midnight that day, and every day after that, 4 more drinks will be loaded on your card. If you run out of drinks one day and you are still partying after midnight, you'll have 4 more you can use. Be aware that if you use all of them right after midnight, they won't be there during the following day. -
We have a cruise booked for March. The current pricing has a $286 senior discount for it. That's a pretty nice discount just for being "old"! 😁

Adult Beverage Costs w/o Drink Package
cruiseguy1016 replied to BearJim's topic in Royal Caribbean International
In my experience, $14 is on the high end for a cocktail. I haven't cruised since March but on that cruise aboard Liberty, my drinks were in the $9 - $11 range. For reference, I drink either gin & tonic or bourbon. -
Once you have a time reserved, it will tell you to make sure you arrive with your party to check in together. You can check in separately if you want/need to but you can both check in at the same time if you want.
-
Are you travelling with another D+ member? If so, you will not need to purchase 5 days. As D+, you will each get 2 free days so in that case, you would only need to purchase 3 days.
-
I'm not sure how many days you get as D+, I know Diamond gets one day, but your free days of internet do not have to be used on the first two days, you can use them any time. It will be a 24 hr. period that will start when you first log on. So, if you first log on at 3:00 on Tuesday, you'll have access until 2:59 on Wednesday. You and your spouse will both (separately) get this benefit.

This is wrong. I'm not saying it didn't happen to you and your daughter but it's wrong. The policy is; once your child has attained a status using his/her parents' points, they will keep that status after they turn 18. Their points will revert back to what they have earned on their own but their status will stay at the level they were at when they turned 18. It's too late now but a phone call to RCI would have rectified the situation for your daughter.
-
I would call your TA and ask/her to help with this.
-
Most people here know of RCI's inept IT department. How have your daughters earned their points? DId any of them come from their parents? Have you cruised without them since they turned 18 and has their total gone up after your cruise? I know a family (wink, wink) whose children continued to earn their parents' points after the children turned 18. The children should be only platinum on their own but they have become Diamond after they turned 18 because they continued to earn their parents' points. Tell your daughters to cross their fingers, they may get lucky.

If you booked through a TA and are in a group rate, you will not see them. If you are just two individual bookings that are linked, you should see them.

Belize & Honduras with a resident driver?
cruiseguy1016 replied to 3red7s's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We used Bodden Tours when we were in Belize this past March. We had hired a driver to drive us around to show us the sites. We told him that the only tourist trap that we wanted to go to was the sloth & monkey sanctuary. He took us there first so we could beat the crowds. Then we asked him to show us some out-of-the way places that the locals go. He brought us to places that weren't tourist traps. He wouldn't admit it but we think he even brought us to his house. The house was right on the water with a nice beach. About 50 yards out into the water was an area where they do dolphin excursions. We got see the show while standing on the beach. Our guide went in the house to feed the dog and he brought us bottled water which is why we think it was his house. We told him we wanted to eat local food at restaurant where the locals eat. He brought us to a place that had great food. We loved that tour and would recommend Bodden Tours to anyone -
Ship Time vs Port Time, leaving from NOLA
cruiseguy1016 replied to BDsquared's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It's never a definite. Sometimes the ship changes time as it goes through time zones, sometimes it doesn't. It's entirely up to the captain. There will be a clock at the gangwy when you get off the ship that shows ship's time. Make note of that time so you know what time to be back.
