  1. You'll get 2X points for anything spent with RCI i.e. cruise fare, on-board expenses, shore excursions (booked through RCI ).
  2. Just curious, and totally off topic but, why is your avatar upside down?
  3. I'm confused. Maybe I'm missing something. There is/was a Disney ship at Coco Cay?
  4. I would be shocked if the games weren't on in Playmakers.
  5. I was on Liberty 10 months ago. I'm fairly certain that smoking was on the port side. One of my reasons for feeling this way is that cigarette smoke really bothers my wife. When hanging out near the pool, we were always on the starboard side. I don't think we would have been on that side if that was the smoking side. Also, I'm a cigar smoker and I'm certain I smoked a cigar on the port side of the promenade deck .
  6. Airplanes land on glaciers also. It all depends on the vendor.
  7. When is your cruise? About a month before your cruise send an email to rcldining@rccl.com. Give them your party's booking numbers, ask to be seated at the same table and tell them where you prefer your table be located.
  8. If you are booking the land portion through the cruise line, your choices will be somewhat limited due to time constraints but, if you have the time, here are some recommendations. Fairbanks: Morris Thompson Cultural and Visitors Center. This is a great spot to learn about the native Alaskan culture. Riverboat Discovery tour. You'll travel the Chena River aboard a paddle boat and learn about Alaskan history and culture. Denali: If you have time, take a tour into the park that goes to the Eielson Visitor Center. It's an 8-hour tour that takes you deep into the park. You should see a lot of wildlife (bears, moose, Dall sheep, caribou, etc.) and if the weather is good, you'll have spectacular views of Denali. Talkeetna: I'm not sure if time will permit it or not but, if you have the opportunity, I highly recommend a flightseeing tour of Denali with a glacier landing. We did that a few years ago with Talkeetna Air Taxi. This was an expensive excursion but it was worth every dollar. Anchorage: Another place to learn about Native Alaskan culture is the Native Heritage Center. Seward: Again, depending on time, try to take a tour of Kenai Fjords National Park with Kenai Fjords Tours. We did this a few years ago and made it back to town in plenty of time to board the ship. You'll get a lot of recommendations for things to do in the cruise ports. Most will suggest taking the train/bus to Carcross while you're in Skagway. I would recommend renting a car and doing the drive yourselves. You'll see all of the things you'd see from the train/bus bit with a car, you'll be able stop where and when you want to take pictures. Hertz has a rental facility in Skagway and the cost to rent a car is less than what it costs 2 people to take the train/bus.
  9. I'm not sure this will work. The pictures are displayed based on facial recognition. If the only people in the picture are crew members, I don't think it will get printed and displayed with the others that have your face in them.
  10. Make sure the birth certificate is the original. A photo copy will not be accepted.
  11. I have not seen an actual steel drum on an RCI ship in many years. It's all done artificially and, IMHO, it's not anywhere near as good as the real thing.
  12. Maybe. They might require the original passenger still on the reservation to make the cancellation. This would be another (maybe better) option.
  13. The tour was to the engine control room, not the engine room. I'm assuming they are two different areas with a lot less "danger" in the control room.
  14. As another poster stated, do the one way, ether Vancouver to Seward or Seward to Vancouver. Alaska has so much more to offer than what you will see from a cruise ship. By starting or ending in Seward, you'll have the opportunity to see a little of the Alaskan interior. To make the trip even better, consider a few days (a week?) before or after your cruise to see more of the interior.
  15. To maybe help you understand the beauty of Alaska and what you might miss out on by not taking a few excursions, I'll relate what we did. We did our first trip to Alaska in 2017. We did a week on land (planned it on our own) going from Fairbanks to Seward to board Radiance southbound to Vancouver. We did so much on land but did not begin to scratch the surface. We had a great time on the cruise and got see and do so many things but knew we needed to see more of the interior. We went back in 2022 and spent two weeks on land seeing the things we didn't get to see the first time. Whether it's from the ship or on land, Alaska has so much to offer I would not recommend visiting without taking some excursions to see and do some of the things you can't do from the ship.
  16. The tour operator will know what time the ship docks so they will know what time to expect you.
  17. That ride, with those views, would be worth the price if it was an excursion. Since it was part of the trip (getting from the airport to the ship) and didn't cost extra, it made it an even better deal.
  18. I was on Freedom for her first cruise after amplification. El Loco Fresh is on the pool deck. It's kind of like a cafeteria layout, you start and one end and work your way to the other, grabbing the food you want along the way. IIRC they have both options. There will be pre-made, wrapped food (tacos, burritos etc.) or you can build your own. There is a topping/condiment bar at the end of the line.
  19. Most residential doors are 6' - 8". My (strictly a) guess is that that's what the cruise ship doors are.
  20. This was going to be my suggestion also. If you don't get a response from them, go to the dining room after boarding and talk to the Maitre D. He/she should be able to help you.
