  1. we go on the ship a week from Saturday and I will report back. All supposed to be wonderful!
  2. We tip $15-20 extra per day for good service. Drinks we give $1 to the server per drink- also a could of $$ if we get room service. If we have a concierge or butler we also tip.
  3. Worth bidding if you are interested. Since the ship has so many regular balcony cabins, with a reasonable bid going from an inside cabin to a balcony cabin odds are pretty good. Even a ship that appears booked, cancellations do happen. Going from a balcony to a suite- because of inventory is less likely. Good luck
  4. For those who have been to coco cay- years ago- boy has it changed! It is wonderful! So much has improved. They have adults only section, a fancy beach club with great meal service- all over the island you can take a tram and find so many food and beach options. If you have kids- a wonderful water park. While some things do cost extra, we consider it a shore X and are willing to spend the money. Haven't been to labadee in years- it was meh. Hopefully it has improved as we have that stop on our summer Symphony cruise..
  5. We have the symphony 9 night cruise booked for August. Since we live on Long Island, NY, we really love a no fly cruise in the summer. No hassle with airports and cheaper as we fly in a day before if we leave from Florida. The Symphony is beautiful. It is an oasis class ship- newer and more venues then the Freedom class. Been to Bermuda multiple times as we used to sail on Celebrity in the summer- but they no longer do Bermuda in August- Found Bermuda boring after a few sailings, the town is meh- While we probably will stay on the ship in Port Canaveral- we enjoy Coco Cay and Nassau. To me, the ship is our destination. Important to be on a newer modern ship. We didn't like the Anthem as we found the layout not great. Guess to each his/her own. Enjoy your cruise.
  6. We enjoyed the Edge when it came out- and really loved the Apex! Cannot wait to try the Beyond! However we have a couple of Royal cruises booked in the next few months- will have to wait until next year. Our favorite restaurant was Eden- we also enjoyed the steak house- Luminae was great for breakfast and some lunches- but we prefer the speciality restaurants.
  7. I'm in! Could use a weight loss cruise! LOL
  8. We had a negative experience on the Adventure- first, we were in a junior suite but the decor was shabby and in need of renovations. It was two years ago- and your pictures of your cabin look renovated. Also, the coffee machine in the lounge was broken about 75% of the time. See you had the same problem. Royal- time to replace. We also didn't like the old school cafeteria style model. So much better with stations for various types of food. Found the food in the MDR meh- We will stick to Oasis class ships. We are sailing on the Icon in March and are looking foward to that experience.
  9. We also love the Silhouette and Reflection. Our favorite S class ships- sailed on both multiple times. However we sailed in January on the Silhouette and both my DH and I got very sick the last couple of days. A lady in the solarium was coughing badly and we sat near her. When we got home, I had multiple tests for Covid, RSV, pneumonia and many viruses- all negative. Went to ENT and was prescribed antibiotics and nasal and cough medication. Was told I had a bad sinus infection. I am still coughing! Be careful, wear a mask in the elevators and run away for anybody who appears ill! We have another cruise in three weeks. Hopefully, I will be better by then!
  10. Food mediocre at best compared to fine land steakhouses. However we really enjoyed Eden. Went their their three times on a b/2/b Apex cruise. Found the Rooftop grill on the Apex disappointing. First, service poor to fair- the restaurant becomes a walk way for people on the deck as it isn't enclosed. They should enclose it like the lawn grill of the Silhouette and reflection. However, when on a new ship, we like to try all speciality restaurants at least once- except Sushi as we don't it .
  11. Unfortunately people aren’t as honest as they used to be. Could have been a teenager. I feel sorry for the person who got kicks doing this
  12. We typically give the luggage handlers. If we get a porter, we also give the same to take us to a cab. $5 per bag. Then sometimes we give tips to people bringing us drinks- and of course if we use room service. We give our cabin attendants extra tip Between $5-10 per day. When off the ship, you might need cab fare or tip money- or money for small gifts- Also airport or hotel tipping and purchases. We bring about $400-500 per cruise.
  13. Not dollar store items. We purchase from each ship and port. Has meaning for many.
  14. We book suites and still enjoy dinners at specialty restaurants. We find the food, ambience and service is of great value imo
  15. We have sailed on both. IMO the Reflection is a much better ship- food, service and entertainment. The Caribbean Princess, was old when I sailed on her about 18 years ago- I "assume" she has been updated . While I agree, two extra days at sea are great- the Princess ship was just plain vanilla and very crowded years ago- perhaps better now. The Reflection we sailed onfor the 3rd time, a couple of years ago and we really enjoyed the ship.
  16. I would think that the hallways have camera's. Perhaps you should have asked to see if someone took your magnets. We have never had a problem on other ships.
  17. We have done both. Not fans of Blu. IMO not worth additional cost. If not in a suite, I suggest booking a well located balcony cabin with cabins above and below, midship and the money saved book a few dinners in the special restaurants.
  18. Remember, Jr. Suites aren't guaranteed dinner in costal kitchen. It is based on availability and typically you will not get every night for dinner reservations. Keep your MTD reservations as they are. Good luck.
  19. We enjoy the EB Hotel in Miami Springs if the cruise is out of Miami- Perfect for a pre-post cruise hotel.
  20. We missed the butler last month on the Silhouette. Room service brought our breakfast upon request and our cabin attendant serviced our cabin- we saved a generous tip! Spent lot's of time in the suite lounge which was great- staff in the lounge was great.
  21. We now only stay at the Riverside Hotel. Los Olas Blvd is great for window shopping and wonderful dining. The hotel is wonderful with great restaurants and facilities.
  22. IMO a big difference in sailing in suite class vs. regular class- the lounge, deck and restaurant are so worth it to us- We like to be in bed by 11 PM and I am concerned that the area might be noisy- however I would rather be in a an entry level suite then a regular balcony cabin. We have put in move up bids. But don't expect to get a move up as the prime suites sell fast and are limited. You have a better chance of a move up from an interior cabin to a balcony cabin with a good bid.
  23. We find a diverse crowd on Celebrity- It depends on how long the cruise is and the week you sail. Holiday periods get a younger crowd with kids- We love the longer S and E class sailings-IMO I am not sailing to meet people- if I do, nice- but it is an opportunity for my DH and I to spend quality time together. Activities are available late night if you want to enjoy them- or get up early- head to the gym and have breakfast- The age of the crowd isn't important to us.
