  1. Never really saw of heard any offering gratitude to a musicians either in the band, bars like the Commodore Club or Chart Room.
  2. I haven't seen one since we were on HAL after we switches from the QE2. When we started with the QM2, never remembered seeing one.
  3. We do take cash in different dollar values to use for on board tips. If they help carry your carry on to your room, room service as an example do appreciate the extra gratitude you show to them. We also keep on hand money, if you go on any tours, some passengers due show a gesture toward the tour guide and the driver of the vehicle. Then we do at the end of the sailing if the waitress, asst.'s, wine steward and also room steward, if they showed exceptional service. And the longshoreman taking your luggage out of the terminal to the street side.
  4. Yes we did have buffets with all sort of items and two carving boards. Also when you came they took your bar order and brought a radish tray on chipped ice with radishes, celery, carrots etc.. And also they brought the cubes of butter on chipped ice for the bread.. Such traditional dishes and nothing like you see today....
  5. I remember all the buffets as I grew up especially in Long Island called Patricia Murphy's - what buffets.
  6. No The only Chocolate Buffet close to the end of the sailings was on the HAL.
  7. I still remember in my mind it being held on the QE2 in the once called Columbia Restaurant. And at that time of night Midnight the doors opened, yes it was packed. How can you turn away a display like that.
  8. Not sure but the number was Contact details 18887036201 Not sure in operation, I always you the Cunard Customer Svc number.
  9. Our Midnight Buffet is a Latenight Snack at 1130PM with selected items. Not like the old days where it was a killer table and setup. Cheese board, Seafood Display, Array of Breads and Rolls, Cold Cuts, Banana Foster etc..... No More..
  10. When we sail into Boston for the 4th of July sailing and dock at the Black Falcon Terminal like in the photo above. We are by a waterway that during that day, ships, vessels, sailboats, cruisers etc.. like to leisurely transit thru to see the ships docked. Many will pass slowly and look up and wave to those on balconies or the promenade deck. I have to say that they appreciate a wave back and maybe even yell up, blast their horns, etc... Really makes the visit festival especially when the sun goes down and their ships turn to partying, music, flashing lights..... Looking forward to returning in 1 month and 4 days to experience again.
  11. Boston Cargo Port right across from our ship last September.... (Click on for better viewing)
  12. Totally agree...... Days of the Round Cabin windows are gone and Balcony are a must. We too like the balcony not for just a particular reason for all different reasons as you said and more. Watching in an out of port, day at sea viewing the open ocean and waves, seeing other vessels at a distance, Sunrises & Sunsets. Also sunning, reading and sleeping. Photos a must. Waving to passer-bys on small vessels along the side of the ship. Hoping a Cocktail Party while the sea is passing by or a nice port as a back drop...
  13. As I have mentioned in the past, the cargo ports. I have fun each time we go on a NE/CAN voyage onboard the QM2 when we dock at the Black Falcon Terminal across from there Cargo Port. Last time we docked in the last September, the whole day the activiity across the water was really alive. The trucks coming and going. These trailer boxes flying on the crane from the ship to ground and onto the truck cab. And whisk away down the dock, with the next one approaching. This took place for several hours. The other port I enjoyed was in the Port of Panama by the Panama Canal. Same activity as above but 10 X 100 times busier than I ever saw. Several cranes and large line up of trailers approaching from many directions. Yes I am on a cruise and vacation to enjoy but this is part of sailing to see the other parts of the harbor working.
  14. We just stroll and maybe do some window shopping along the main strip. Also we like to lunch at a all time favorite called The Red Parrot. But mostly in the post we have just strolled since it's the day before disembarkation in NYC..... Rarely get it in the middle of a voyage.
  15. Easy to make at home..... Except have to master Cherries Jubilee
  16. On our Cunard Shore Excursions we also have the John Adams House which is a distance. Unfortunately is was disappointing to us on our visit since the property is very old and disappointing to navigate thru the house due to it's age. It is property of the National Parks and is a walk thru not guided.
  17. So many interesting subjects have been created for this wonderful and interesting forum. Educational, Interesting and even Bizarra in nature. Has there ever been an Unusual Food you may have seen on board that you never expected to see while Sailing. Maybe I am different and others have seen in the past but once we had on our fish on the QE2 and tasted great. Fried Parsley. How great and sweet. We even asked for more and they brought it. Let me open this question to all.
  18. LOL..... NYC Three Ring Sidewalk Pretzels Something about the taste the street must enhance the flavor..
  19. We enjoy walking the Harbor Walkway. We walk to the Public Garedens. Near by is the Citidel on the Mount. Thru the town walk. The Maritime Harbor Museum is our favorite with exhibits of the Titanic.
  20. Tinykygal, Forgot to mention but a distance, the Kennedy Museum was wonderful if you were brought up and remembered the president.
  21. Boston is one of our NE/CAN ports we have in all our sailings. Sadly we have exhausted the City from the first time we visited. Sometimes we get off and some we stay on and enjoy the ship with most of the passengers off. On this coming voyage, we are not sure of we will come off. But we too have always heard about the North Side Italian portion of the city. Heard many, many restaurants and bakeries. We agree that the high lights attractions a quite a distance away. MyDW love to see the Public Gardens especially in the Summer. Enjoy the bucket list but I must disagree and think we in Brooklyn, NY has the better Cannolis.
  22. Changes were great on Cunard with island music like old days but no steel drums. Melody was there.
  23. I lost them to in the past due to the changes. Nooradam was the last. Very disappointing for a new ship when it came out. Took 7 days to get a decent steak from the kitchen. But we did like the mini cabin.
