  1. September Solstice was our first cruise. We loved MDR portions and quality as well as variety. Buffet it was the same ole same ole for breakfast and lunch.
  2. I was going off the menu on our cruise showing on the App.
  3. Even though we live in an APP world, I always bring paper backups in case my cell phone has issues.
  4. On Solstice in September in Alaska it wasn't the chair hogs we had issues with. It was table hogs in the buffet. So many parties just sitting playing cards while people circled like hawks for a place to sit. We finally started going to the MDR for breakfast and lunch.
  5. I too had a so called dedicated VP from X. I am still waiting for his return reply to my emails and phone messages from 6 months ago.
  6. To this I say BS. I got off her in September in Alaska and while she is not a spring chicken she is still in great shape. I did notice a little rust around the windows, seating was comfortable but do not plop into the round seats in the martini bar --- they fart.
  7. My first cruise on X in September I decided to book on my own. NEVER AGAIN because of this. From here on out it is a TA for me.
  8. It happens. On the Solstice I admit the door got away from us a couple of times.
  9. It seems to me the menu in Blu is very healthy so you don't get the steaks and escargot and other unhealthy items. To me that is a no sale.
  10. Our next cruise will be Alaska in May 2024 and thinking of doing a retreat level. There are two "entry level" categories in Retreat, or at least that is what I refer to them as. Aqua Sky and Sunset Sky. Do I still get all the same perks as the other categories in Retreat? It looks like Aqua Sky has access to Blu, but do I still get full access to Michaels and Luminae? Blu is a bit too healthy for me. As far as Sunset Sky they appear to be aft cabins. My last aft was on HAL as an aft corner and I felt it was noisy, more vibrations, and fumes. Is this a problem on X?
  11. Wish I could do an inside, but I get too claustrophobic.
  12. I did not know I could get a substitute. Good to know next time.
  13. Thinking about doing a solo cruise next summer LA to Mexican Riviera. I am happily married so I am not interested in doing a Celebrity sponsored single's cruise. How can one avoid those pesky single supplement fees?
  14. Try to pack in a carry on. Still have to go through detectors but at least it is done there and you don't have to go claim it.
  15. I think the system has issues. On the Solstice 2 Sept I didn't get my edocs or tags until that Sunday.
  16. We were able to book an 11:30 but arrived at the pier at 10:15 and boarded at 10:30 on the Solstice in Seattle.
  17. Just off the Solstice in Alaska from a few weeks ago and we had 70's-night, 80's-night, 40's big band night, disco night, a pride night and a white night. These were all listed prior to our cruise in the app. I only wish I had planned for these when I saw them. As Aqua Glass you have access to Blu a private restaurant. Spa discount don't know but watch emails for pre-cruise discounts. Tuscan I understand is pretty popular. I too made the switch from HAL to X and loved it! Service is top notch like HAL. X still has a live orchestra and musicians and is a bit younger than HAL. You still get the older crowd but not nearly as much as HAL, nowhere close to.
  18. Was not on the Solstice in Alaska a few weeks ago, thank goodness. However, they did in the Grand Foyer do an Abba Sing-a-Long which was a blast. They followed this up with 70's night and started with YMCA which too was a blast. Everyone overlooking from the railings on all four decks were participating including people in the glass elevators.
  19. Just off the Solstice in Alaska and here is my take on Concierge Class: he lunch on boarding was meh in quality. I feel we would have done better in the buffet. The ‘concierge’ was uncontactable. Ours was doing double duty. Out of the three of them we only saw one manning the Captain's Club Desk. We left a voice mail the second day and never got a response. The shower head was the same as a regular cabin. Don't know it was my first on Celebrity. The toiletries were the same. Don't know it was my first on Celebrity. The robes were the same. Don't know it was my first on Celebrity. The room service menu was the same. Don't know it was my first on Celebrity. We had gold key cards and will hopefully get extra CC points. We also had gold keys and got 5 points per night. We got binoculars, an umbrella and a slightly larger balcony but that’s about it. Binoculars would bring my own more powerful, umbrella was good for one person, not sure about the balcony. Don't know it was my first on Celebrity. One thing the OP failed to mention were the Canapes. They were AWFUL!
  20. Just back from Solstice and yes they have a few 10 tops. They do try to seat people who are actually traveling together.
  21. I think we had him on Solstice in Alaska last week.
  22. Formal night as we know it is gone. Long sleave dress button up shirt and slacks or dressy blue jeans work just fine.
  23. I just got off of her doing Alaska. She looked amazing, a few rust spots around windows but not surprising seeing she sits in salt water. Interior was beautiful and love the public seating areas albeit very low but nice. Do not plop in the round seats in the Martini bar, the cushions fart causing everyone to suddenly look at you.
  24. One of the bars and venues I did not go to. Good to know for the future.
