  1. The Sushi restaurant is very good. Never made it for lunch yet but hopefully next Ovation cruise we will. When on an E class ship eat there every 3 days.
  2. Too bad they'll never get back the great on ship management. Manfred, Theresa, Helmut, Stefan to name just a few. All moved on. Not to mention all the crew now on Scenic, Windstar, Regent (just disembarked a few days ago and multiple crew recognized us) and I am sure many other lines. Unfortunately Seabourn has gone through many management challenges and now no longer what it was. And in the wake lost many of their best crew. We can only hope new management can restore the luster to the brand.
  3. Having sailed 20 times with well over 400 days and the last couple cruises not being what Seabourn used to be, this 7 day Caribbean plus TA was our first time on Regent and we were very impressed with Regent. You should try Regent. Service was what Seabourn was 10 years ago on The Little Sisters. Food while subjective was much better with more choices than recent Seabourn cruises. Plus even with another 130 pax than Encore & Ovation never felt crowded. Observation bar much more spacious. Much better design for pool grill. More than a few ex-Seabourn crew on the Splendor who recognized us. Will be back on Ovation in a couple of months, we will see how it goes. Really looking forward to our next 2 planned Regent cruises. Plus Scenic, Ponant, and Explora Journey.
  4. So sad people who can spend $1000+ a day but can't afford to wear decent clothes, I am with John about how people should dress. A gentleman should dress like one as should a lady when in a fine dining restaurant on a high end ship. . You are not going to Denny's.
  5. 2 people working from home answering the Club phone #
  6. supposedly the stabilizers actually fell off, not sure how accurate that report is but from a TA who used to know a lot about Seabourn.
  7. we too and have booked a trip, despite not liking the ship size, on Explora. Agree dining venues are very interesting. And interesting non-repeating itinerary. Also have several more Scenic cruises booked, which will have many great ex-Seabourn crew on. Eclipse 1 design has flaws hoping 2 is better. Food service on our Eclipse cruise was what we had on the little sisters but more options for dining 6 choices.
  8. Music is like food, we all have our tastes. I don't get on a ship for the entertainment - you can take a theme-based cruise if you want Jazz, 80's rock, hip-hop, whatever. We typically do not eat until 8:30 or so and don't care about the "show" afterwards. Instead go to the Obs or Club or if on an O-class ship maybe the TK bar for an after dinner drink.. Would prefer to meet up w/ a couple and have a conversation vs. listening to a loud or boring "entertainment". Will go to Rock the Boat just because. (Miss David E. doing his couple 3 songs on those, and miss David for so many more reasons) And when Heather / David / (Handre when he was on ship) were w/ Seabourn did their pre-dinner events always went to them.
  9. As to dining in the TK, there are people who manage to eat there almost every night. (I know more than a few) how exactly they manage that I do not know. Many years ago, before SB paid TK many $$$ I actually met him at one of his restaurants - no not the place we tried to get in to and gave up in Napa - it was good, but nothing exceptional. I prefer Guy Savoy myself. Ponant has Alain Ducasse as a consultant whose land-based restaurant we dined at many years ago and was amazing. Reality is on a cruise ship none of them will be cooking your dinner. Guy did cook mine and came out to insure it was perfect...
  10. On sea days we usually go to the MDR but on occasion the patio grill and order off the menu. Fish de jour or a burger.
  11. We had that experience in Ft Lauderdale several years ago.
  12. We too fly Delta a lot and avoid JFK at all costs. If we go to NY for visits we fly into & out of White Plains. Now that we fly out of LAS we have direct flights on KLM several days a week to AMS and to LHR on AA. Delta is a PITA with their flight schedule changes. On our upcoming Regent TA ending in Lisbon they changed the flight we were planning on taking the day we disembark from 12:20 p.m. to 10:05 a.m. which is too risky. Cancelled and book BA via AA to LHR and then on to LAS and since we did that exact route last March know timing works for disembarking day.
  13. CDG was the worst experience I ever had, and have flown over 1.75 million miles. Between having to undergo a security check to transfer to another terminal with a woman with an attitude going thru peoples bags at a snails pace as if they have 10 hours between flights, to waiting for busses that only depart every 15 minutes to take you to said other terminal we arrived 15 minutes before departure but they had already closed the gate and refused to let us board. Spent the next 3 hours trying to get rebooked and then had to exit security to be ticketed on a different airline and stand in line for 30 minutes. Another time when flying out of CDG they had people monitoring bag size before you went thru security. Same carry-on bags that we had used for years were deemed too big (although French speakers got thru with similar sized bags). We had to go back to the counter, where there were now 20 or so others in the same situation and wait for the very slow customer service people to check bags that should not need to be checked. We made our flight with 20 or so minutes to spare but the people in front were crying as they were going to miss their flight. I'll take AMS every time if I can't get a non-stop. Even LHR.
  14. I agree we have been fortunate to sail with Philippe many times. He is very knowledgeable and has always taken very good care of us from finding hidden bottles, to suggestions on the revenue list and back before they made the purchase packages a lot more flexible he would work with me to "substitute" other wines into my package. He is also a pretty funny guy if you take the time to get to know him. Always starts my cruise off well if I see he is on-board For all the comments about revenue wine purchases, I assume they still have the wine packages you can buy where they give anyone regardless of their status a "bonus" bottle based on the total amount of the package. Combined with the additional 25% that is a very good deal.
  15. Josh was a bean counter obviously what his tenure brought. Hopefully new leadership will restore Seabourn to what we knew it to be.
  16. Mr. Fudge - thanks for taking us along with you. As to this: "There was an unfortunate incident involving a guest complaining about slow service, he was haranguing one of the pool deck staff which was very uncomfortable to listen to, the guest if you can call him that was shouting loudly, finger pointing and was very aggressive towards the crew member. It was so bad that the crew member asked if I would be a witness to the incident, I had no hesitation in supporting him." I can not understand why some entitled person has to be nasty to crew, but unfortunately it is not the only incident. I hope Seabourn bans that person from future cruises. Glad your trip home was uneventful And we both got C19 the day we arrived home from our cruise last March on the Ovation - so totally understand.
  17. agree 8:30 SHOULD be good, assuming no issues with luggage offloading or immigration. That is the earliest we would plan on while many times you can safely be of before the 1 time we wanted to get off early there was a queue of 30 others and we were not allowed to disembark until customs allowed us to in Barcelona.
  18. No MORE Nicky Fooey. Thankfully.
  19. Hi Julie, We had a similar drive by of Elephant Island. I do know some other cruise lines make an attempt to actually stop there, but do not know the success rate. On the Quest there was no mention of the possibility. Too bad you could not get up close to Shackleton's resting place. Great pictures, brings back many fond memories. Please keep posting.
  20. Regent loyalty - as best I can tell no "free cruise" after X number of days. On Seabourn we got 14 days after 250 sailed - which we used as part of our very expensive Antarctica cruise. Even though we have not been particularly happy with our last couple of Seabourn cruises (mostly due to staffing issues) we will sail with them a few more times as we are within reach of another 14 day complimentary and could already have a 7 day one.
  21. Asked my TA blocked view had already looked at Rssc and doesn't an6it. Thanks for nothing
  22. Foxy's is more low-key and an easy walk from the pier
  23. TK in Colonnade have always been, since we were on one of the first trial runs, served "family style" but you can always, as we do. ask for more of what ever course you want. Slow service is a different story and likely due to under staffed and / or loss of the former crew - due to C19 or more likely other lines taking them away (on Scenic 80% of hotel crew on our June cruise were some of the best ex-Seabourn crew, many of whom we knew and more who knew us)
  24. don't see how it is any different from sending it directly to Seabourn or RSSC or who knows else we will sail with, Just showing a statement with only the investment needed everything else black marker over.
