  1. Let’s go with NYC and surrounding areas. Get outside of NYC, good. Get into the garden state part of NJ, also good. But as far as the city goes, Escape From NY had it right.
  2. There are a few friendly people in NY/NJ. But they just moved to Florida.
  3. Have her best friend tell her that she and her husband are going on that trip (not your wife). Have her brag about it and say how much she is looking forward to it and that her husband is the best. Then, when your wife is talking to you about it, spring it on her. You know your wife, so my biggest advice is don’t wait past the date she actually May stress out if it’s too late before the cruise.
  4. We like the darkness of the interiors. I totally get why people like the light though. Being on 8 over 1 also may be a better location.
  5. I do find a difference in passengers out of different ports. For example, Miami has a lot more people from NY/NJ than other ports, so you get a few more people with grumpy attitudes. I mean, I get it. Living in NY/NJ must stink, but it’s vacation. Having said that, there has never been a cruise where I’ve let passenger behavior affect my enjoyment. Unless someone physically assaults me, I just don’t care. Why other people being rude affects people is a mystery to me.
  6. On the Celebration and Mardi Gras, craps is now $10. Least it was in September and December
  7. As a carnival stock holder, I want them to increase prices on things until people no longer buy them.
  8. That’s what people do during the old muster drill. Saw people feint standing there.
  9. If they want to have the muster drill because it’s good training for the crew, great. Then have that training. As for passengers, it’s a time to stand still and hopefully not lock knees.
  10. I get that’s the purpose. But people standing there like sardines are thinking the same thing. When is this going to be done so I can go have some fun. That wasn’t training. It was checking the box.
  11. The old muster drill was pointless. Theater to make it seem like something worthwhile was being done.
  12. There are Definitely piano bar cliques. The first time I went to one, the dude played that Alice song. I mentioned I had never heard the song before and the people around me thought I had 2 heads. I said, well, in my defense, the song is terrible. Based on the looks I got, knew at that moment piano bar would not be for me.
  13. Grand Turk is nice. But I like mahogany bay for the same reason. Free beach. Amber Cove and Costa Maya are basically the same for me.
  14. Cozumel is my favorite port, nassau my least favorite so I say the second.
  15. Yes. Which is why I tip every drink when I have the cheers through a casino deal.

    Bimini Port

It’s a great port for beach. If they switched Nassau to Bimini, I’d be very happy.
  17. We did a cruise over Christmas on the Celebration and our boarding passes didn’t have priority, just Platinum. We got through the priority line just fine.
  18. Are there people who don’t know there are other cruise lines and other offers? Also, deals are pretty individualized, so not sure how stating your specific deal helps anyone else. To recap, you got a great deal on Princess and are taking advantage of it. Very smart.
  19. I don’t know if that’s why but carnival makes a lot more money off slot than table players. Hence why slot players earn more points.
  20. Since I don’t care about any of the cut backs so far, it’s all good. They need to just keep my desires in mind. It does crack me up about the two vs one cabin service per day. As long as there are enough towels, why do people need two services? You really spending that much time in your cabins?
  21. If you are that unhappy with Carnival, here’s an idea: don’t go on Carnival. I know, I know, that may be too radical. But there are other cruise lines you might find to your liking. So branch out. Spread those wings and fly!
  22. We are on deck 5 and love it. We rarely go to lido and spend 90% of our time in decks 6-8.
  23. Funny you mention that. On the other hand, doing port days makes things seem quicker to me. Have enjoyed the thread. We are getting on Monday and it’s been great having 3 recent threads live blogging the ship.
