Price drops when there are no more rooms available

Once all of the cabins are gone, the sailing is removed from the website, and there won’t be anymore price drops. Sometimes cabins may become available right after final payment, so if you haven’t reached the final payment date, check it again a day or two later. Price drops are usually determined by supply and demand, and if the sailing is already full, a price drop would be unlikely. Good luck though! [emoji2]

No. And it doesn’t have to be all cabins. Once your cabin category is sold out there is nothing to price match to. Therefore won’t be able to do price drops at that point.

Well the thing is, how would I know if it dropped before they sold out?

Unless you are checking daily, once a category is sold out, you won't know if there were any price drops. Think of it this way. If a clothing store has men's dress shirts advertised at 30% off, and you go in to the store the day after the last shirt is sold, not knowing there had been a price reduction, and all you see is an empty rack, guess what? You're out of luck.

Could have done a fake booking, Carnival web does show if cabin category/deck is "sold out"

Now that fare viewer is gone that's the easiest way ( fake book)

Only the Early Saver rate allows price protection after final payment date. If you booked another rate, price protection stops on final payment date.

This is not my experience. For our next sailing, we got an interior of a certain category on the breeze. My PVP said that I was in luck because the category that I wanted was the last available. Fast forward 2 weeks and I get another casino offer. I call my PVP to check on a price drop and low and behold, I get $20 back per person. I get another casino offer 2 weeks later and call her back. This time, there was no price drop. She even told me the going rate for my category of cabin. My guess is that they still price each category regardless of availability. Just call your PVP every so often and ask if there's been a price drop.

BTW, I don't think my PVP lied to me as we selected this cabin before calling her. Therefore, there was no reason to make a "hard sell".

Maybe things work differently with casino offers. But not sure how this would work. Something that not exist for booking has no price, therefore nothing to price match to.

No, but, if you see a higher level room at a lower price you can try to get a free upgrade. I have done that twice with success.

It takes dedication, but checking daily does pay off at times. One cruise, for one day, balconies dropped to $20 more than what we had paid for our interior. I called immediately, paid the $20 and upgraded our room. The couple cruising with us waited until the next day to shift room and the price had already gone back up.

We've had a few, but your right, you have to be super vigilant. I have had a few claims that the price was gone literally hours later...

That's not the same. The OP has already booked the cruise. Or I assume they have because it sounds like they're asking about price matching. Using your analogy, you would've already bought the shirt, then the shirt goes on sale a couple days later. By the time you find out about the sale, they've sold out.

I think the OP wants to know if the price of their booking went down before it sold out and, if so, how can they find out in order to price match to it. If that's the case, it doesn't matter. Once their category is sold out, they can't back-date a price match.

OP, keep looking. People cancel. Our category sold out a couple weeks ago. Then two cabins opened up. Then four. Then six. It went from four to six within a couple hours of one another this past weekend. Whether or not the price will go down if some do open up, you'll just have to check to see. In our case, they did not. If they sold out once, there's a good chance they'll do it again, so I doubt they see a need to lower the price unless it gets real close.

I ran into this issue too. I booked early and got an inside cabin just where I wanted it, but there were just eight cabins in the category. Each deck is in it own category, at least the upper cabins on the Fascination.

So, when they cut prices to sell out the lower decks, I was not able to take advantage of it.

Well, I could have moved my cabin to one of the lower decks and saved about $100 pp, but I wanted to keep the cabin. $200 is not much compared to being kept up at night by noises above, below, or out in the hall.
