So, I sail in a Grand Suite for the first time ever in a few weeks... I found this document in another thread... https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Pz4Im5qh4cqd1zE5A9srLm3wGd0_SNZwTdbLTa59EF4/htmlview#gid=0 it lists all the current Concierge's names & email addy's that are on all the different ships.... anyway.... my question is this.........

What exactly would I email them for prior to my sailing? What exactly do they do for you? Forgive me for being stupid on this matter...but that's how we learn. If I have some "special perks" by being in a suite...I need to know about them as I am usually pretty low key & don't require much.....

THANKS in advance!

We just got off Liberty in a RFS. The concierge emailed us 5 days before the cruise. We had booked the first night done right package and emailed him to make sure we got in Chops and that we were seated with my sister and her family who had booked the same package, but separately. He arranged everything and we had a spectacular dinner the first night of our cruise.

Our concierge was wonderful. He also checked me into my Southwest flight the day before we got off so we got a decent boarding pass (which he printed and handed to us on the last night). :)

Our conierge, Mario Reyes, is just plain wonderful. He has helped us with dining room table assignments, spa treatment schedule, he has told us what is the entertainment schedule for our entire 17 days while we are on board the Serenade (we board her on this Friday)! He gave us the instructions on how to schedule babysitting (we are taking our 14 month old with us). He has told us when the Suite Welcome on board is and when the Meet & Mingle will be so that we can pass the information along to others who are following our roll call thread. He is just a lovely person and has a wealth of information.

If you have any questions or concerns regarding anything - your conierge will be able to help you or he/she will find who can help you.

You are going to love your suite. Last year we did a Grand Suite for the first time and loved it!! This year we are doing the 2 Bedroom Royal Family Suite. Can't wait for Friday to come!!

You'll get a kick out of his daily phone call to his 'beautiful people' 😁

I was trying to remember which concierge sent them so thanks for the reminder.

His 2 daily messages were sooooo long and you couldn't delete them until they were finished. He was absolutely fabulous as a concierge but I would groan when the phone light was lit, knowing it was Mario, basically reading the Cruise Compass to us.

Enjoy your suite. They're fabulous.

I just sailed in my 1st GS ever on the Freedom and we had YingJin Yu. She was amazing. We didn't get upgraded (upsold) until 2 days before our trip so we didn't get an email or anything but she was awesome in getting our dining reservations set up. We had issues with the room and maintenance didn't solve the problem but one call to her did. Lastly she organized a bridge tour which was amazing. She made the trip just that much more extra special.

We love Jorge....he has been superlative. He said he would give us a thumbs up with MJ on Vision that we are coming. We look forward to Jorge again when we do the Presidential Suite next September. Family thing!

I have a feeling we will be disappointed with anything other than the suite life soon.:')

We've cruised in a GS for the past 8 or 9 cruises and are definitely spoiled. (We actually booked a JS on Explorer in Sept but were upgraded. What are the chances!) Due to a lack of GS, we're booked in a superior balcony for a TA in November. I know we'll miss breakfast in the separate dining room but we'll see how we handle it.

Oh, I forgot about the daily phone calls, UGH!! I guess we will have to just tolerate it for the next 17 days!! LOL

You all seem to be way more impressed by concierge then we are, thought Jorge was terrible sent a complaint letter to RCCL on how he handled the normally smooth disembarkation

He was nothing but gracious to us, though we were not in suite. But we cruised with friends who were and they complained about the disembark also. Said they waited and waited in some lounge while we literally ran off the ship in first couple tag groups. I don't think he got that some people just wanna go home. I believe he thought they would appreciate the leisurely disembark.

I had a bad disembark with Mario on Serenade. Our first red tag. Not impressed.

We just got off Liberty and the debarkation was horrible. You're right about that, but it wasn't a Jorge thing, it was an RCCL Galveston Cruise Terminal thing. He did the best he could, but the debarkation was chaotic from start to finish. You say that debarkation is "normally smooth" but I have sailed from Galveston over a dozen times and debarkation is never, ever smooth there.

We had our first suite experience on Radiance of the Seas earlier this year. Our concierge was JD (job done) sorry can't remember his full name. We did not receive a email from him and we certainly were very under impressed with the service we received. He seemed to have his favourite passengers and for some reason we were not one of them. On one occasion we stopped for a quick drink in the club at 4.30pm before we changed for formal night. My husband had dress shorts, polo shirt with collar and leather sandals. JD told him it was not appropriate dress so we left. After dressing up we went back and at 7pm a guest from the Royal suite was in the club in baggy jeans, basketball cap and sunglasses and JD was running around sending his staff to find the special brandy the guy requested. We loved our first suite experience and have booked a suite for an upcoming cruise on Explorer of the seas. Hope we get to experience a positive concierge experience next time.

Jorge on Liberty was excellent for our sailing. I know on disembark, he was on his radio waiting for the go ahead to get us off. As Chad said, it's not really his call. Disembark in Galveston is always a cluster - there are so many people that carry off their own luggage since it's a huge "drive to" port. I wish Galveston would limit the number of self carry's - it always seems like half the ship is off before the suites are allowed off.

As others have said, concierge can make all sorts of reservations for you. On tendered ports, they will walk you down and get you past the lines. if you have Labadee or CocoCay on your itinerary, they can book you a cabana or clamshell.

I don't think he lied. The lady at the door to the big room where all the bags are said the same thing. In any event, it was truly horrible, but I don't blame Jorge. He was extremely helpful to us for the entire cruise.

I know for a fact it was a lie, what happened was someone decided that the 1st few groups should go before suites, because of early flights, they never asked time of the flights for suites, it sure it was not his decision but he should not have lied about reason, we were sitting on lounge watching hundreds go ahead of us.

I have stayed in a number of suites and I want to offer a different perspective to some of the other posts.

I don't make a lot of demands on the concierge but he or she is there if I need a problem resolved, require advice or get a booking for a venue which might otherwise be fully booked. It is usually easier and more convenient to go and see the concierge than standing in a line at guest services.

You get an email from the concierge a few days before your cruise. There have been occasions when we have eagerly waited for the email but not got one. It lists perks and provides essential contact details. If there is something you want arranging or resolving before you go on board then replying to the email is the best way of making contact. Personally it is not worth worrying about if you don't get an email.

Some concierges have a stronger presence than others. Some you will only see behind their desk in the lounge at assigned hours. Others you will find greeting you around the ship and getting to know you whenever you happen to be in the suite/concierge lounge.

A number have pointed out problems with disembarkation. Part of the problem is communication. The concierge doesn't always do a good job of informing suite passengers of options for disembarkation. You have a choice, get off the ship by yourself and at your convenience or be escorted off at designated times. If you are in a hurry to get off then it is worth having a chat with the concierge and then making your plans accordingly. The convenience of being escorted off has all to do with navigating around crowds and taking short cuts. That is going to do with the port and how smooth the disembarkation process is for all passengers. We have experienced, good, bad and the ugly.

The concierge may also organise special events. We have in the past received an invite for behind scenes tour, a VIP brunch experience plus there is usually some kind of meet and greet event where you meet the officers. You will usually get invites for these in your cabin.

We have found the suite experience different and superior in Oasis class ships than others. All of our suite experiences have been great but we have generally not found the need to trouble the concierge much.
