Elation worst cruise ever!

Ha got ya, worst weather cruise ever, no wait 2nd worst. We cruise during hurricane Sandy. Just off Elation yesterday.

Given the Elation is almost 20 years old, but recently coming out of dry-dock the ship ;looks in great shape and with the new amenities like water works and guys burger made it more enjoyable. The weather was on the soggy side as it rained 4 out of the 5 days, but it didn’t damper on our spirits. Half moon cay is one of my favorite stops even with the rain we tender off and went swimming in the crystal clear ocean waters. Nassau one of my least favorite stops. It stopped raining long enough for us to walk to Junkanoo beach. When we were ready to plant ourselves on the beach the skies opened up again, but managed to get my toes in the water and headed back to the ship . Figured we were already wet was a good time to try out the new twister slide, plus there was no lines. The last sea day was the best the sun finally came out. For some reason deck chairs were hard to come by.

Since we booked late around Christmas we were given any time dining, which personally don’t care for. As soon as we boarded looked up the Maitre D. his assistant took our info that I prefer early seating and a table for two. Don’t know if because we’re platinum or hit the milestone of 25 cruise, but before we set sail we received notice of a early seating table. Our dining team was prompt, received our food quick and hot. The meals were all very good with the exception of one bad baked potato. Read earlier reviews before we left, one poster said the casino staff, cruise director and entertain staff seemed unfriendly. For us this was the complete opposite, the dealers and pit boss were very nice. Even suffering some losses didn’t feel bad at all it was entertaining, guess it’s all about attitude if your going to bitch about bad hands how the dice are rolling maybe you shouldn’t be gambling. Plus, first time I’ve seen pit bosses buy a round of drinks for the table, not once but twice. Kevin the cruise director I thought did his job well, not overbearing with announcements all day long. I was one of his victims on the welcome aboard show as he singled me and another guest out for not clapping when he came on stage. We were asked to perform the dance moves the dancers were teaching us earlier before he can on stage. Was a little embarrassing, but funny got me a free drink so it was worth it. Weather was disappointing, but over all one of our most memorable cruises.

Thrilled to hear that you had a great time on the Elation. We will be sailing on her for the first time in May. I tend to prefer the smaller ships as I feel like it isn't so crowded and we get better service, so we are really looking forward to it - especially as this cruise there are only 3 port days and the last 2 days are both sea days.

Sorry, no fun times. We did the punch liner, we seen the two comics before years ago had new material very funny. I believe they were on three out of the five days, with repeat shows in the middle. PG early shows with adult later. Must see if you can stay up late is the adult quest game, 11;30 pm the day we’re in Nassau.

I was solo on Elation for Halloween. Had a good time! Going back on this Monday the 22nd for cruise #38. I firmly believe a cruise is what you make it. Some are better than others but I never had a BAD cruise.

Sent from my iPad using Forums

I'll be solo on the same cruise. 1st leg of a BTB :)

I saw the title, and I thought, now wait just a minute. I got off that ship last month and we had a great time. I was going to tell you a thing or two!! Had me fooled!! LOL:p.

Loved it so much we too are cruising the 7 day cruise on 5/5. No, we actually booked that before we booked the cruise this past December. This will make my 4th time on the Elation.

Kevin was fun, loved his morning talk shows. DH and I did a build a bear (actually we built a snow leopard), one of the kids in line built one too and said he was going to name it Kevin.

Glad you enjoyed your cruise-! Thanks for the laugh!

Very Cute Review! I'm sure getting out of the cold of Michigan in January helped put that smile on your face, even if it was a rainy cruise.

Up until last year, I have avoided the older ships. However after going on the Ecstasy in November and the Paradise in December, I've changed my mind. Those old gals know how to show you a good time! We've had our best meals and service in the MDR on those 2 ships.

Thanks for a fun review!

Glad to hear that Elation is looking sharp after her dry dock. I'll be sailing on her in 27 days (not that I'm counting, or anything!!!)

Sorry to hear about your weather troubles. I'm desperate for some sunshine and warmth, though I'll take vacation any way I can get it!

Most of the casino staff were nice on my early January cruise on the Elation. There were a couple of girls on the roulette wheel that couldn't smile, and the most unfriendly casino workers I've ever met on a cruise ship. One from Peru, and the other a blond from Russia I think.

Getting ready to sail on Elation Feb 5th. Was wondering if you have photos of the fun times from your trip. Like to get a heads up on activities. Also did you go to any of the shows in the punchline club?

We are also going on the 5th! :) Hopefully we have good weather!
