Captains's Club Lounge

Long time Royal Caribbean cruiser use to going to CL or SL for a couple drinks and conversation before dinner. Have some Celebrity cruises scheduled and wondering how the Captains Club Lounge compares.

Celebrity does not have a dedicated lounge as Royal does. Instead they hold Captains Club events for breakfast and in the evening between 5-7. You will receive a letter in your statement explaining the time and location of the event and all other pertinent Captains Clubs info. Usually the breakfast is held in one of the Specialty restaurants and the evening event is held in the sky lounge which has different names on different ships.

Not very well. Sorry to tell you there isn't a Captains Club Lounge. Celebrity uses part of a lounge for their Captains Club events. On some cruises they have also provided vouchers for use in other lounges.

Only two hours, 5 to 7:PM. Drinks are only in the lounge specified for your cruise. Not like RC where they load 3 drinks per night on your Seapass card (for most sailings) to enjoy at another bar if you want. Also the snacks are served to you not buffet style like RC. Not a biggie to us.

Not always true, just like RCL Celebrity may load 3 drinks per night on your Seapass Card if there are a lot of CC members.

Yes I know about the vouchers. My remark in parenthesis was in the wrong place and the edit window expired. But good to point out the clarification for the OP.

Unless there has been a change in the past few months, Celebrity does not load drinks on the SeaPass. When there are too many Elite & Elite + for the lounge to hold they issue paper vouchers that are good st select bars from 5-7.

Whilst in terms of hours of free alcohol RC wins but in terms of ambiance we much prefer the Captains Club event....

When cruising on RC we have found the lounge to be over full with many guests staying for the full length of time of cocktails. On our last RC cruise (Allure) we tried going to the lounge at a few different times but it was too busy to be pleasant. On Celebrity guests seem to pop in and out more....never a problem getting a seat or getting served.

Hope you enjoy your X experience!

As I recall on Royal, you were only allowed in the Captain's club if you were in a suite or if you had the a lot of previous sailing points. While there is not a Captain's Club on Celebrity as other have mentioned, they do have a Michaels Club for suite guests and Zenith members where pre-dinner drinks are plentiful.

Thanks for the responses. I usually drop in for a couple drinks before dinner while my wife is getting ready. Have met many wonderful people in both the Suite & Concierge Lounges. We are upper tier members with RCL so have had access, you can expand signature for an idea of our history. RCL also has the Diamond Lounge which can be a zoo. Sounds like the Captains Club event should work just fine and be similar to what I do now. We currently have 4 X cruises scheduled, 2 in Suites, 1 in Aqua and 1 in Concierge. Am looking forward to visiting Michael's Club when in the Suites and hoping the transition to X fits.

Just be sure to register with Captain's Club before your first Celebrity cruise so they can cross reference your Royal Status. We have enjoyed the Captain's Club Elite hours in the Sky Lounge. It never seemed crowded, the views are wonderful and yes, it is a nice quiet time to meet your fellow cruisers.

We on the other hand have our first RCL cruise in many years coming up in May and are wondering how the Diamond Lounge will work for us. If it is indeed as crowded as some say the idea of drink vouchers sounds good to me.

What ship? Service can vary depending on the class/ship. If the DL is located in the Viking Crown area it will sometimes be closed off and only D, D+, P members allowed. IMO the Oasis class is the worst but sometimes they will open up nearby rooms as overflow. The vouchers always work well and can be used in a number of different areas.

We will be on the Independence in May headed to the fjords of Norway. We tried the Oasis class once, never again, not for us. We are trying this one because the itinerary is better than what Celebrity was offering.

Just got off Indy last month, DL was closed for remodeling. The opposite side rooms had been converted for use as the DL. These are both in the Viking Crown and the entire area could be opened up depending on number of D & up members. OOOPS...just remembered Indy going in for "dry-dock" in April. The DL was closed because it is being turned into a Suite Lounge, no more Concierge Lounge. DL will be where it is now permanently.

Thanks for the info. We are on the first real cruise after the re-frub. Looks like they are doing a couple one 1 night shake downs before we board on May 20....Hoping our experience is better than the one we had on the Allure in 2013.

We are done with the big ships at RCL. Have been on Oasis, Allure, Harmony, Quantum, and Anthem. Just to big and targeting young family cruisers. Unfortunately this is the trend with Freedom Class also. Indy is getting the treatment of water slides, library turned into cabins, additional cabins hung off the front of the gym, and public spaces being reduced. Hopefully you will enjoy the itinerary.

Not sure which ship you will be going on and what level of accomodation.....the bigger ships have a Diamond Lounge and a Suites Lounge. If you are in a suite, you can choose. In any case, it seems RCCL always loads the 3 drinks on your seapass, in addition to the actual perk lounges.

Elite HAPPY HOUR  is nice on Celebrity, usually in the Sky Lounge.  We love the Diamond HAPPY HOUR and the extended hours where you can even order in the MDR.  On Celebrity HH is from5-7.

We used to love RCI but like you we have outgrown the product. We actually loved the design of the Oasis class. Never felt crowded but we were on a cruise once with over 2000 kids on board. We arrived home and booked a cruise on X. 🙂

The papers have not been issued for at least a year. They are loaded on your sea pass and can be used at other bars as well. Not World bar or MDR
