I will be on the infinity in a few months with several of my friends. I have been reading a lot of negative posts lately so I was hoping you could tell me what you love (or like) about the Infinity. I hope to see several positive posts on this ship. We can't wait for our cruise. Thank you!

We spent a month on the Infinity earlier this year. The crew was fantastic. The first 2 weeks we were in a Suite and last two weeks in a Family veranda so we ate in Luminae, the MDR, also dined in Tuscan 3 times and Qsine once- had just one meal that I send back as it was overcooked. So food was great.

Since you will be traveling with several friends I would suggest you try Qsine. It is ideal for a group with it menu items meant for sharing.

We were on in March and the staff were wonderful. At the Oceanview Bar Nicholas, Nestor and Roland made each visit special. The activity staff Nacho and Jeane (?) were fun and worked hard to keep people happy. My life loved the cafe and I could always find a quiet spot to relax and read or watch the world go by. The dinners in Blu were interesting and tasty.

Infinity was our first X cruise and we did Panama Canal for our 50th so forgive me if I get a little nostalgic...I loved the way we were treated, it being our first ocean going cruise we didn't know anything. We chose concierge class balcony and were delighted with our room, our cabin stewards, the small, comfortableness of the ship and the MDR food and service was perfect. We went to the wrong dining room first night and were escorted to the upper DR by the hostess....we had a table for 2 one over from the window and became friends with the couple sitting at the window who spoke primarily French....the second night the "boys" moved our tables together and from then on our tables were set as a 4 top. Wine steward laughed when I told him I didn't know one wine from another all I cared about was if I liked it or not! He asked a few questions and proceeded to find me new wines that I really liked...and he gave us a bottle of champagne at our Anniversary Dinner!

When you cruise with friends, you do not notice the imperfections of a ship as much as you do when cruising without other friends! So, you will have a wonderful time!

That all depends on what you expect. We started to sail on Celebrity as a fluke and had a fantastic time and the ship was fantastic. It became our cruise line of choice and continued to sail on them. A few of our friends sailed on another cruise line and weren't very happy with many things and we bragged about how great Celebrity was and convinced them to sail on Celebrity with us. It turned out to be a disappointment for us and I m sure they weren't impressed either as they never booked another Celebrity cruise. That cruise for some reason would be the worst cruise ever for us and we sailed on many cruise lines and cruises and as an indication we liked Carnival enough to sail with them 17 times and have another cruise booked with them even though many look down on that line.

I don't know if it was the cruise or just sailing with friends but we learned our lesson after sailing a few times with friends and prefer to cruise by ourselves. I think sometimes the pressure of trying to make sure that friends enjoy themselves and feel the same about the cruise gets to be too much.

Miched, this is my fear with friends we are cruising with on the Infinity in October. They are mainly Carnival cruisers. We have done 12 Carnival cruises. Celebrity is currently our cruise line of choice, and we have been talking it up. We finally became Elite on our last cruise. I hope they will be pleased. I find myself thinking we will cruise Princess or HAL next time around. Truth be told, I may have switched this PC to Princess but I was too far in with tours and friends cruising with us. Also, our online TA required final payment almost a month before it is due on Celebrity.

Also, NOW charging for hamburgers... that will not set well either. One friend is a big hamburger fan and is certainly not use to paying for Guy's on board Carnival. I also worry about enough daytime activities. Btw, we last sailed on the Infinity in May, 11 night Pacific Coastal. Yes, it is tricky sailing with friends and feeling "responsible". We mainly cruise by ourselves and this is a big reason why. Sorry for the ramble, LOL.

I feel your pain and know exactly what you are feeling and I think understand my post.

Something else we found was having an adjoining cabin was kind of awkward and don't see any advantage. We were never comfortable sitting on our balcony or even in our cabin as we had to be very careful about what we were talking about or any other noises. 😍😜. And having that divider open between the cabins on the balcony wasn't the greatest. We didn't need that extra space and lost all of our privacy.

We never knew what they could hear. Not that we were talking about them but maybe just about our family or other personal issues.

I love the adult only solarium pool. I love the beautiful art all over the ship. I love the smaller size of the millennium class ships. I love the international travelers we seem to always meet and strike up a conversation with.

It's a great ship. Wonderful crew.

Thank you. This makes me feel much better! I had to laugh about the post with the friends next-door because a few friends are also next-door to us. We will see how it goes, LOL. We are looking forward to our cruise and hope everything goes well.

Now I just have to figure out something that I read about having to pay for hamburgers???

You will find the nooks. We always take a top to bottom tour on embarkation day, just to see what's going on. There are lots of places that may be busy during the evening, but are quiet places to sit and read a book during the day.

We love the Infinity. We are going back on her this fall (for the 4th time). The absolute best thing is the crew. I'm sure she's aging (that's what people say on here, anyway). I don't notice (because when you are in love you don't notice the flaws - :) ). The ship is clean, the beds are comfy, we ate delicious food in the MDR almost every night (hubby is celiac so that works best for us), Qsine was fun.....not to oversell the ship but we always have a good time. Your experience may be totally different. But we call her our "second home" and can't wait to go see her again. Also, we like the smaller ships (have been on Summit and Century as well) and weren't that crazy about the Eclipse. Some people love the S-class though.

If you go in expecting to have a good time (and not necessarily expecting things to be perfect) then you will have a good time.

It just started within the last week or so and so far it is reported only on the Equinox. I am not sure when they will be rolling out to all ships.

We adore our friends we are sailing with but we are not next door neighbors.

We loved our cruise on the Infinity in May. We will have a wonderful time, and I can not worry about the rest of the group. We are looking forward to our sweet sixteen balcony. With that said we adored our OV, 3112 and loved Deck 3. I think we will miss being on Deck 3. The proximity to everything is great.

The Constellation was the first ship to roll out the Top Deck Burger Bar (pay for burger or hot dog) around mid June. The Equinox followed with the TDBB around mid July. We'll be on the Infinity September. If the TDBB is open for business at that time we'll just pass on 'burgers.

To clearify the differences between traveling with a group of "friends" (acquaintances) is a lot diffferent that traveling with one close couple or 2 that you have have convinced to sail on a cruise line.

We have traveled with groups and it was fun but none were our very close friends, just acquaintances and I have many. They choose on their own to do the traveling and were basically on their own except we were in a group and had some activities together.

Great post! We are traveling on the Infinity for the first time on 9/24/17 - Pacific Coastal. We are also traveling with friends, and some acquaintances. About 30 in the whole group, but we know about 10 (6 being good friends). Looking forward to it....I know it is going to be a great time!

  • 2 weeks later...

Just sailed Infinity in Alaska and was pleasantly surprised. It cannot compare to S-class sophistication but still seemed well maintained and updated. The burger bar was still complimentary - we went there on day 1 because we missed the Oceanview lunch hours.

My favorite spot was the martini bar - not just for drinks because I don't drink that much - but because of the location and view. It has the same floor to ceiling windows as Bacio but one level down. I gave up trying to get a seat at Bacio and just went to the martini bar even when it was closed. There are a bunch of seats along the window and I'd just sit and take in the view. We saw whales from there twice. this was my first time on a cold weather cruise so it was new to me trying to find the good indoor spots vs being out on deck.

Stephanie - thanks for your feedback. Also, thanks for the reminder about the martini bar as an alternative to seating at Bacio.

Was on Infinity in Oct 2016 (ABC Islands) and will be back on her in Oct 2017 ( California Coastal)

Ship was ok not terrible, not great,..not falling apart but not Wow...

Staff was friendly but not Amazing, except for cabin staff..very hard workers,

We were in AQ & had an amazing cabin attendant, room was clean, quiet and nothing was ripped, frayed, shabby or broken.

BLU, which we usually love, was disappointing...bad service, too few staff and uninspired food. We did enjoy Tuscan for lunch and dinner, Q sine and even a night at the MDR..good service and excellent food. Buffet was also surprisingly ok. We did not go hungry,

Music on board was good...plus a nice DJ for a change.

Highlight for us was the Halloween Party...awesome, and the ABC itinerary.

We enjoyed our cruise but just not Wowed!

Hoping next one is better in BLU...and looking forward to the Calif ports,
