Platinum Checkin

Will be sailing out of Port Miami again but this will be my first cruise as platinum. Was wondering if any can explain how checkin would work as a Platinum member. My understanding is that there will a be a dedicated checkin area and that Platinum members are given the boarding group after Haven guests. Can anyone confirm this and possibly walk me through the process.

I know they have a specific waiting room/lounge for Haven guests.

But for Platinum members, if there are a dedicated check in line - it would be best to ask when you showed up at the Port of Miami. They would have staffs to tell cruisers where to go. Just tell the staff that you are a platinum.

Finding no one to answer your question - look around for signs indicating Platinum checks in here or see signs

Casinos at Sea (CAS) Platinum may be checking in that area or the same. You will definitely be boarding in

queues after Havens suites and perhaps folks with special needs. Don't let anyone fritter your time away get

check-in and on board to enjoy the party before the cruise

We boarded at Miami last January and if I recall, just beyond the standard check in entrances, there was a Platinum section. But like others said, I asked as soon as I arrived and they directed me to the right section.

As of late November 2017 when I sailed from Miami on Jade, there was a dedicated check-in line for Platinum and above. However, there was no designated waiting lounge for Platinum and such, prior to boarding. Also, I was not given any early boarding group number based on Latitudes status. So, you will save a little time waiting in line, but that's about it.

There was a check in line but no area dedicated. You have to listen carefully to hear them say platinum, platinum plus members can board. It was right after those that need help and havens. My SIL and MIL were with us and not platinum but they let them board with us, they just looked at one of our cards and let the group go.

Just sailed last week out of Miami on the Escape.

There was a dedicated check in line at the port although the line attendants tried to direct us to the regular line. The Platinum check in line was to the far right of the terminal room that we were in. Now I'm having trouble remembering which terminal that was. I think terminal C?

There was also a small closed off designated sitting area for Platinum cruisers at the far end of the waiting area from where we entered. We were given directions to it because when we got to the person handing out boarding cards at the top of the escalator we told him we were Platinum.

There was no one attending the waiting area or paying any attention at all to who ever chose to sit there. No one came to tell us to get ready to board. It was just an announcement that said Platinum was next to board. So if you weren't listening and paying close attention you might miss the announcement. The sitting area was about as far away from the boarding area as you could get.

In July, we were directed to the Platinum line for check in, but the agents were taking people from the regular line and we waited 10 minutes. It would have been faster to just use the regular line. When we got up to the waiting area, boarding had already started and we were given boarding cards #21. No info on boarding before the number was given. We waited 35 minutes or so and boarded with our group number at about 12:30.

As mentioned, there is a small section of seats away from the main boarding area, but you are on your own. You must have to be there early and listening for them to call Platinum before the boarding card numbers start being called.

How are things going, any cruises booked?

When we checked in, it wasn't too busy. We had about 6 counter agents all trying to get us to come to them. :p

That would have been nice! The lines weren't that long for us at check in, but there were only 2 agents for Platinum & P+ and they each took people who had been waiting in the regular line instead of us standing there looking at them. This cruise was to Cuba which involved going in back somewhere to get the Visas so it took longer than the usual check in.

I think each of the ports is a little different so it is best to ask.

Just for an FYI,. We sailed out of Boston in November. When we got to the terminal and had dropped off bags, gone up stairs the lady that greeted us asked if we were Platinum. I answered yes and she pulled out a #1 boarding pass from her pile. The people in front of us and behind us were not and she just handed them the next card in her hand. All number 1s were seated together and after the Suites and those needing assistance were boarded, we were next. So in Boston, they are just giving you #1 or #2 boarding passes

Of course! Still need to use that credit from the Star adrift at sea adventure. We are on the Jade in Europe in May and the Escape to Bermuda in September. What about you two?

Heading off on the Breakaway in February, we had a mini suite booked but managed to score a Haven spa using the bidding process. We got a little spoiled on the Pearl last year when they called and asked if we wanted to buy the upgrade to a forward facing suite. We also have a back to back in November on the Dawn. We are spending the kids inheritance one cruise at a time.

To answer the posters question regarding the Platinum and Platinum + check in, it is sometimes quicker to use the regular line. Nice if they get there early to try and get the early boarding though.

If you're Platinum, there's no need for a boarding group number. As long as you get there before boarding begins, you should have no problem getting a Vibe pass. However, it's best to hang out close to where the boarding will begin, because when they announce that "boarding will begin soon" hoards of "bording group" passengers will descend upon the embarkation area. If you're in the Platinum lounge, facing the ship, boarding will begin on the right side of the room (near the restrooms)

I'm not really concerned about the actual checkin. More concerned with the boarding group. I need to get that Vibe Pass for the week. Lol

Thanks. So from what I gathered checkin doesn't really matter. They will board Haven, passengers needing assistance and then Platinum & Platinum+. I just need to pay attention to the announcements. I'm usually there early. Have never been higher than group 5 but after lucking into a Vibe Pass last year its a must get going forward

There's an separate waiting area for platinum and above. Just go upstairs, don't get a group number, and walk through the waiting area, by the restrooms. Show whoever is guarding that area your key card. They'll call you after the Haven, special needs, and weddings, before starting general boarding. Last Escape cruise (We don't get Vibe passes), we were getting dinner reservations outside Le Bistro before the Vibe line even started.

It may depend on the port. Sometimes you have to ask and ask until you get a decent answer.

Very recently at port of New Orleans after being told 4 times platinum had no area JUST before boarding started we found someone who knew the correct answer. Good thing we were finally in that area because NOTHING was called they just sent us in after suite guest.

I can honestly say being platinum with both carnival and NCL each cruise can be different when it comes to embarkation. Fortunately over half of our NCL cruises have been in a suite and that has remained the same as far as embarkation goes.

just keep asking because even after 4 people in different area (platinum check in encluded) telling us platinum didn't get priority boarding I knew better than that. So I kept asking!
