Yes, you will receive a $25 shipboard credit from the Captain's Circle. ;)

Toto...Thank you for the info. Pleasant surprise. It will not make us richer or poorer but certainly is appreciated..

I think they should base your Elite status on days cruised only and not the number of cruises.

It is too easy for some people to hop on a ship for an overnight which counts towards your 15 cruise total.

I know the top 40 most travelled is based on days, so why not the Elite status too.

That would cut down the Elite members.

Apologies to anyone who made it with one nighters.

I love the extra on board credit we now get after 20 sailings, amazing how my honey wants to now get to 31 sailings so we can move up to $50.... so that perk is working, we are booking more with Princess.

I would love to see some things:

- the nice plush robes for our cabins

- choice of pillows (like suites get)

- ordering off the dining room menu to our room

- guaranteed reservation times for specialty restaurants (that could be difficult)

- free gifts, like coffee card, drink coupons, spa certificates, sancturary pass, specialty resatuarant pass (of course maybe one of these each time you cruise)

- priority to upgrades

- dvd player in cabin with choice of movies (like suites)

now to really dream

- no weight gain on cruise

- free drinks for entire cruise !

- no lining up for anything

- personal maseuse

okay I like to dream :D

I apparently have not enough else to do as well.....have given this lots of thought.

First, super elite should be based on days, not who/what happens to be on board a particular cruise, because that is so highly variable.

For example, the first most traveled event we were invited to occured while we were still Platinum. We have, on occasion, missed the cut since we have become elite.

Second, most "super elite" members, based on the # of days concept, which implies a certain number of cruises, are also receiving some on board credit courtesy of Captain's Circle. I think that is a great perk, as we can use that credit for what we wish - towards a bottle of wine, dinner at a Specialty restaurant, drink card, shopping at the boutiques, etc. Would be nice if that credit would get larger, but that might actually cost Princess a few more $$ of "lost" on board revenue.

So... I think that Super Elite benefits that would be nice would be 1. the ability to order off the dining room menus whether in suites or other accomodations, 2. receive "pronto" laundry service for no extra charge, 3. be offered bridge tours on port days, 4. get personalized stationery from the print shop, 5. get almost unlimited internet minutes, 6. Pam - I love complimentary ultimate drink card, coffe card idea so I am adding it to my list, too, and finally the big one: be FIRST IN LINE for cabin upgrades. The darn upgrade fairly is way too random, and it would be great to have loyalty rewarded with an automatic several category upgrade, with further upgrades coming as higher category minisuites and suites remain unsold.

Private receptions are nice, there are certainly things that are already done to let us know our loyalty is valued, but rather than some nebulous discount on the cruise price, which my online travel agent will beat anytime, knowing that a BE balcony guarantee rate is going to get me a BB balcony at worst, and perhaps a mini or full suite would really make me feel appreciated.

Celia, and the rest of the Captain's Circle hosts, I hope you are reading this. Hugs, Celia - you are the BEST!!

Ginger

Hi Ginger,

I agree totally with your suggestions. The upgrade fairy has only visited us once in 2002 with an upgrade to a BB balcony from an outside cabin. We have since only booked balcony cabins. I am sure we would enjoy a mini-suite with the same result. The coffee card is something we make good use of and miss the bogo coupon.

Cloning Celia would be another suggestion! She is the best! Gail

Maybe at your location but here in the US it isn't. It still involves the cost of getting to the port & getting yourself back home form the distant port since you can't sail back on the same ship immediately. All things considered it's not such a great option in attaining Elite status.

I would like to see a discount on Princess Tours or a percentage rebated back to Elite guests. I guess this might not be attractive to most CC'ers who seem to avoid ship's tours like the Norovirus. Such a discount would reward the really loyal Elite guests rather than those who squeeze a coffee card for ten cruises, book the cheapest inside cabin with multiple discounts, and have onboard account totals in the single digits.:D

Just think of people who really try to get the most for their money. What difference does it make if one uses their coffee card and how they use it? They paid for it and it they don't use all the punches on one cruise or buy one close to the last days, why can't they use it on the next one? My Onboard account is in the single digits as I buy what I want, not trying to impress others with all the big drinking. LOL

On the west coast there are 1, 2, 3, day cruises available on a regular basis from Northern CA and Seattle to Vancouver.

Actually, as much as we enjoy it, I would be willing to give up the Elite lounge altogether if Princess would introduce it as a Super Elite lounge with free drinks. Heck, I would give up our minibar for that too, in a minute.

Of course, I only like this so long as Super Elite is defined as (let's see, we have 22 cruises, 250 days...) being 25+ cruises or, even better, 250+ days. But somehow I have a feeling that, if Super Elite ever comes, it will be in the 50+ cruises, 500+ days range.

I would like to see priority seating at the shows.

Also... my turn to complain! Although I am elite, I only have 16 cruises but 215 days. By the time I get the big, big (sorry for the sarcasm) $25 perk for 21 cruises, I will have almost 300 days. There are people getting this extra with only 150 days! (actually, 21 one day cruises would qualify. What's wrong with this picture?) I think it should apply to days cruised.

OK, I feel better now!!

Hi All,

My first point was the super elite perks should apply only to a limited number of people onboard the ship.

Reason being the really good perks cost more and have limited space eg a bridge tour or something similar. Princess need to be able to manage and afford the costs.

If we have just another class of member ship that all can join, the problem comes back in a few years when we will want super super elite.

Now I fully understand if its limited to say just the top 50 on each cruise an non elite might get the perks while on another cruise someone with 500 sea days might not get the perks at all , but you need to draw a line some where.

thoughts folks on this idea that it applys to a fixed number per cruise

Oh, I do realize it but seeing that you can't book a return trip on the same ship and adding in the cost of the return trip back to your home port it's not a very cost effective way of attaining Elite status. Unless they've changed the rules you might as well just book a 7 night trip & return to the same port on the ship and enjoy yourself in the process.

I'm happy with what I have and I'm Elite, I cruise for the itinerary and I enjoy the perks they give me. On RCL the new level of Pinnacle is really just a title with no new benefits. The only perk I would like from Princess is a logo tote bag to schlep my stuff around ports and take home.

Sounds like back in the day when those of us that had close to 200 days sailed still didn't have enough cruises under their belts to make Elite status. We were attending the most traveled lucheon on some ships as Platinum while sitting at a table with Elites that had half the days sailed as we did. Thankfully that did change (of course it changed just after we hit the 15 cruise mark to days or cruises). It's only $25, just a token amount, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. ;)

We have four of these now from our last two B2B's. I think everybody gets them. They are the same kind you can buy in your supermarket for $1.

When we get to Rome in 9 days, we will have 19 cruises and 322 days. Still no loyalty OBC, but I don't I have no problem with some people getting it after fewer days. Nothing I can do about it, so I am not going to worry about it.

I agree.

Don't take this wrong but on the last two cruises, I have talked to more Elite people who only book inside cabins. Look at the name tags on the cabin doors. They say they do this so they can cruise more. More power to them. But it seems like those are the people that think they deserve all of the suite perks. On our upcoming Christmas cruise, I'm paying over three times as much for my cabin as the inside people are and yet some (NOT ALL) want what I have. And then they usually get price drops yet suites never go down in price.

I know many Elite people book the higher end cabins but, as in life, there are always a few people that think they deserve more. And life would be very boring if we all had the same interests and beliefs.

We cruise on many differnt lines so I'm not Elite yet but I think the perks that Princess offers are really great - especially the internet and laundry.

I sailed twice last year with Princess and didn't get one. I have FOUR cruises booked with them right now and will ask about getting one but do I ask?

The tote bags should be left in your stateroom by your room steward. No matter what category cabin you booked. If you don't get one by the first evening, just ask your room steward if they could please find one for you. ;)

We didn't get any on our last two cruises either. The canvas ones that come in the suites are much smaller and don't hold much - I'd rather have the supermarket tote. It's great advertising for Princess.

People pay for their cruises and book what they want and like. Personally, how people spend their money is their business. I do agree, why pay twice the amount when you only get a bigger cabin instead of getting a extra cruise? JMHO! Happy Cruising.

super elite

hi all

while on the ruby i heard folks chatting about this, while i agree there needs to be something we need to think about this for a minute, the reason there are so many elites is that we are all cruising more, so every day more elites.

so we have super elites, in a few years do we then have this debate again and then super super elites, then there is the issue of what perks to give.

so heres a thought for you all,

a new top level of captains circle , call it what you want but lets use an old name the commodore club.

how to get in, you must be in the top 50 most travelled on a cruise of 10 days or more.

you get a new colour of card.

so what perks ,

well club lunch or cocktail party as captains time dictates

a second party, say hosted by circle host but have ships dancers to dance with members no free drinks but allow members to bring a guest, again may be a formal event, timed to last a full evening ,may be split over two nights to allow early and late diners to attend

breakfast at sabainti for the top 50 onboard only, now some will be in suites, some will be travelling with family and friends and will not want to leave them.

a club lunch open to all but restricted by number to be held either in port or onboard a ship while in port, say a couple in the us and in europe per year with ceo or similar to attend etc black tie event allow princess to make announcements to this group first.

then some vouchers, $5 of a bottle of wine, a free meal in the crown or similar, a one day pass to the sanctuary , $50 voucher of a future cruise, $10 off a shorex trip.

any other ideas folks

yours shogun

great great

Personally, I'd appreciate just getting two bar setups (one for each of us) instead of one per cabin.

And I'd love to go to Sabatini's for breakfast. I understand the problem with not being able to accommodate all the suite passengers, but maybe they could limit it to the top, say ... 20 most travelled or something like that. When we got upgraded to our suite last October, there were only like 4-5 couples MAX at Sabatini's at any time. Don't know if people didn't know about it, had other people with them who weren't qualified, or what but we were suprised at how few attended.

We don't book cheap cabins, BTW. We don't go any lower than a balcony and mostly it is a mini-suite.
