Rare WesW Posted April 18, 2012 Author #207 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Gerry, Aloha1; thanks again for your kind words. A few pix from a delightful day at Santorini yesterday (which was almost canceled due to swells/winds--after 15 min hold on all excursions we finally got the green light). Last night was the Captain's reception. Good to visit with Captain Mario again but his lovely wife is not with him now--she is in Venice. We had another delicious dinner at Signatures last night (incl the tasty mushroom soup) paired with an outstanding Chateau neuf de Pape. Today is Ephesus and for us, a visit to the Terrace Houses. tallship Posted April 18, 2012 #208 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Thanks for the Santorini shots as we missed that port due to rough seas this time around. We loved seeing the Terrace Houses at Ephesus. It was a highlight of our trip. Enjoy the remainder of your cruise.

txladycruiser Posted April 18, 2012 #211 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Great pics of Santorini and the Terrace Houses. We will be there May 7 and 8 - really hoping we get to stop at Santorini. If not, we have another chance on May 13. Looks like it was cool in Ephesus as almost everyone has jackets on. Thanks again for taking us along! Threechicks Posted April 18, 2012 #212 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Hi Wes. If you keep sending your wonderful photos I won't have to travel anymore. Those pictures of Santorini take me right back. Beautiful. Thank you. Elsie
rallydave Posted April 18, 2012 #213 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Have been hearing about the Terrace Houses for awhile now but, until your pictures, had no idea what was being talked about and now the only word I can think of is WOW, WOW, WOW. Thanks so much for bringing us what to expect and unpatiently wait for when we plan to go there. Your pictures have been extraordinary and very welcome. We want more and more. Thanks so much for taking the time to share. Dave
HonTri Posted April 18, 2012 #214 Share Posted April 18, 2012 The Terrace Houses were one of the highlights of our cruise!
Rare RachelG Posted April 18, 2012 #215 Share Posted April 18, 2012 The Terrace Houses look fabulous. They were not open yet when we were in Ephesus, so a good reason to return. But it looks cold--everyone in jackets. Glad you made Santorini as well.
Hambagahle Posted April 18, 2012 #216 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Again, super pix Wes! And tell me - did they show you the brothel right across the street from the theatre? The Greeks seemingly had it all sorted out!!
Rare RachelG Posted April 18, 2012 #217 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Gerry, I thought the brothel was right by the library. So the husband could say "I'm going to the library, dear".
TedC Posted April 18, 2012 #218 Share Posted April 18, 2012 Gerry, I thought the brothel was right by the library. So the husband could say "I'm going to the library, dear". I still have my library card!
Aloha 1 Posted April 19, 2012 #219 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Gerry, I thought the brothel was right by the library. So the husband could say "I'm going to the library, dear". According to our guide last August ( a retired history professor), there was a walkway to the brothel under the main promenade that was accessed near the Library. He showed us an inscription that pointed the way to it. So, yes, you went to the library, but didn't read anything. :D

It is certainly helpful to know what you are looking at. We'll actually be there next week and am anxious to hear the story of the brothel;)

Rare WesW Posted April 19, 2012 Author #224 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Tom & Barbara/Opington T, Karen&Wayne/Txladycruiser, Elsie/Threechicks, rallydave/Dave, RachelG/Rachel, Gerry&Ken/Hambagahle, jhp/Olivia, cruiseluv/Maria & Bob, mimito4/T & Don; Thank you very much for your too kind words. Karen, Rachel; yes it was somewhat cold (late 50's early 60"s--but wind made it colder, in fact Captain Mario, Willie Aames our CD advised those susceptible to seasickness to take meds last night). Gerry, we did not see (or get a Brothel mention) but we did see the Men's and Women's public restrooms (concrete seats (sorry did not take a pix--did not think it would be worth posting) our guide told us the men & women spent hours in these bathrooms (picture ten or more holes in concrete) where they sat and then socialized. Today we are docked on the island of Rhodes, Greece. We finished our excursion (Rhodes Culinary Delights), pls see pix below. Our excursion highlights included; a quick stop at the Acropolis of Lindos, then an extensive visit to the Old Town (and the Palace of the Grand Masters), a UNESCO World Heritage site that includes the high town and lower city, contains Orthodox and Catholic Churches, Turkish structures, and houses. Prior to sailing at 6pm, am looking forward to going for a late afternoon run in the beautiful walled city of Rhodes. Enjoy these pictures please: Medusa inlayed floor Grandmaster Palace Rhodes Greece This picture is of the Chef who prepared our typical Greek (Tzatziki, Greek Village Salad, Egg-Plant Salad, Mousaka, Soutzoukakia with Rice and for desert--Halvas) lunch at a Rhodes local Taverna
Rare gdlamberth Posted April 19, 2012 #225 Share Posted April 19, 2012 Wes, the local tavern photo looks like the same Tavern, same chef and sounds like same menu as we had on our stop in Rhodes three years ago on Navigator. Hope y'all enjoyed it as much as we did!!! Greg
