Northern Prairie Cruiser Posted December 1, 2013 #1 Share Posted December 1, 2013 We just booked a balcony cabin on our first Princess cruise, Caribbean Princess ship and were "updated". We are now on the Lido deck in cabin #303 which is directly by the stairs and elevators. We usually stay in aft cabins which have always been quiet. Any feedback about our location? jackieo Posted December 1, 2013 #2 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Don't panic - we have had balcony cabins right by the lifts and have never had any issues with noise. Enjoy.
born2cruize Posted December 1, 2013 #3 Share Posted December 1, 2013 We just booked a balcony cabin on our first Princess cruise, Caribbean Princess ship and were "updated". We are now on the Lido deck in cabin #303 which is directly by the stairs and elevators. We usually stay in aft cabins which have always been quiet. Any feedback about our location? We've had both balcony and inside cabins by the mid ship elevators and have never had any issues. Our last cruise on the Ruby was next to the International Cafe and never had a sound issue. Though the neighbors across from us insisted that at night the door to the atrium be closed. We've even had an inside right behind an elevator without so much as a peep of sound from the elevator or stairwells. Our next two cruises on the Emerald will be the the exact same cabin as on the Ruby (Emerald has the same layout as the Ruby).
dorisis Posted December 1, 2013 #4 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Cabins next to the elevators are not noisy, but they are convenient.
cruzysuzy Posted December 1, 2013 #5 Share Posted December 1, 2013 I preferentially choose cabins near the elevators due to DH's foot issues. Never heard any noise from them. I don't know why 'hints' posts warn against them.

Pam in CA Posted December 1, 2013 #7 Share Posted December 1, 2013 I've had many cabins near elevator lobbies and never heard any more noise than normal. The cabin doors are well insulated... so much so that if you want to hear a PA announcement, you have to open the door. You might hear someone talking right at your door but that could happen anywhere on the ship.
Rare TracieABD Posted December 1, 2013 #8 Share Posted December 1, 2013 I also have had a number of cabins by the elevators without any issues. No worries!:)

Happy ks Posted December 1, 2013 #10 Share Posted December 1, 2013 I'll have to be the lone dissenter here. While we didn't have a problem with the elevator noise at all, it seemed that our one and only cruise adjacent to the elevator lobby was always filled with noise from people talking/laughing late at night. That…and the fact that people would peer into our cabin every time the door was open. It made for a few very awkward moments when I had to dive and hide not fully dressed when my dear husband wasn't thinking and just opened the door. I'd not hesitate to book a cabin close to the elevator again, I'd just go down a few cabins away from the lobby area. It is convenient to be close to the elevators. meatball_nyc Posted December 1, 2013 #11 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Never a problem. We prefer to be near the elevators. sunsetbeachgal Posted December 1, 2013 #12 Share Posted December 1, 2013 A great location..we love being there...as said by others, very convenient and never a noise issue!
Rare Kinkacruiser Posted December 1, 2013 #13 Share Posted December 1, 2013 If there's a sizeable proportion of young people on board, there could be laughing and load talk late at night. I always book near elevators.
bhopal21 Posted December 1, 2013 #14 Share Posted December 1, 2013 We most always book directly off the panoramic elevators on the grand class ships and have never heard any sort of noise. As you will find, cabins in that area are super convenient to most everything. Mike:)
Holomoku Posted December 1, 2013 #15 Share Posted December 1, 2013 The good thing about L303 is that you are right under the Spa entrance, so no noise late at night since the spa is closed and that area is carpeted.;)
Astro Flyer Posted December 1, 2013 #16 Share Posted December 1, 2013 Like others we've never had a problem with noise & it was convenient to access the elevators & stairs. I don't know where your other cabin was located but an upper deck cabin is not desirable for my very 'mal de mer' prone wife.
DrivesLikeMario Posted December 1, 2013 #17 Share Posted December 1, 2013 The elevators themselves are very, very quiet. :) The obnoxious, inconsiderate passengers coming to/from the elevators are the only noise issue. I wish Princess would put signs up right outside the elevators that say, "Quiet please". JSWalk Posted December 1, 2013 #18 Share Posted December 1, 2013 We usually book as near to the elevators as we can get. It is so convenient, we usually travel with several couples and it gives us somewhere to meet up if we are all going together.

Northern Prairie Cruiser Posted December 2, 2013 Author #20 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Thank you everyone for your replies and valuable feedback. We really appreciate it! We look forward to our upcoming cruise and won't be concerned a bit about our cabin location by the stairs and elevators. As a humorous note to one of the posts...Thanks for the warning about the possibility of people peering into your cabin while milling about waiting for elevators or meeting other passengers. We will sure to practice our "dive on the bed routine" in the event one of us opens the cabin door by accident and the other is not yet properly dressed! Happy cruising! Pam in CA Posted December 2, 2013 #21 Share Posted December 2, 2013 Just checked the cabin location (which I should have done before) and there aren't that many cabins on your hallway. Those elevators/stairs won't have the same usage as those further aft as you're away from the buffet area. It'll mostly be people from the cabins along your hallway.
