I am now up from rolling on the floor laughing after picturing you being carried into the dining room on the shoulders of 2 or more wrestlers! That is a very dramatic entrance.

If only life was that glorious. It just shows what auto correct does. And it would be more of a Cleopatra chair.

Figured I could use a tote bag that would fit under a plane seat

Want a zipper at the top

Ideas and any photos before I start the search?;)

Have a look on amazon, I got a pretty decent one from there with a zip and inside pocket for phone or whatever. Took me a while to find one I liked but with a bit of patience you can find anything on the net. :D

If there are any shops that sell Chinese products near where you live, have a look there. I bought (in Singapore) a great medium-size tote bag in a quilted batik print with a zip that closes the whole bag. It has an internal pocket and a small zipped pocket on the front. Very useful for taking to pool or beach. Maybe a bit small for towels though but fits very nicely under plane seats.

My normal handbag is a medium sized taupe crossover with five separate full-width compartments, big enough for my Kindle and all other necessities.

When travelling I usually take a smaller black purse, also crossover, that is nice enough to used as an evening bag.

I have only once brought a purse in a cruise, and quickly realized there was no good reason to do so. I do bring some sort if bag to use in ports, either a beach bag or a cross body/messenger depending in where we are going.

Before my upcoming cruise I am going to LA for a few days pre-cruise to hang with friends, and I will need a handbag while I'm there. As a result, I will have it along, and no place to leave it while I'm gone--although I might ship it back to myself to the hotel I'll be staying at for another couple of days in LA when I return from Tahiti. It would fit into a large flat rate USPS box so the cost would be modest. My other option would be to use a small flat clutch that I have and slip it into my suitcase for the cruise part of my trip, but I would prefer to use my other one.

I have a large Coach bag that I use for travel as I can stuff a lot of things into it. It stays in the closet once we board and I don't carry any type of purse until we disembark. My husband takes a small backpack for port days so anything I want to take with me goes in it.

Shoes are a completely different story!;)

This is my travel tote http://www.briggs-riley.com/category/productDetail.aspx?id=Large-Shopping-Tote_255&col=baseline&cat=totes

Multiple exterior and interior pockets, enough space in the main part of the bag for holding my Kindle, my small cross body bag, my 3-1-1 bag. It has an internal ID holder, so a luggage tag would never get ripped off. It has a slide over strap on the back to fit nicely on the handles of my carry on. Built to last a lifetime, but also comes with a warranty that they will fix any damage for the life of the bag. The lining is silver, so it's not a black hole. The snap out cosmetic case is really nice. I use it for all my travel and have never been disappointed.

I have one in black, my sister in olive and I have gotten one for my Aunt, we all love it.

After reading everyone's responses, I obviously have an over packing addiction/problem. You don't even want to know how many pairs of shoes, earrings, necklaces, or bracelets I brought with me.

Lisa

Actually I do want to know how many shoes, earrings , swimsuits, etc. you bring. I always think I pack too much but want options, you know? Do tell!

For my upcoming French Polynesia cruise I will be packing the following accessories/shoes/etc.:

Two bathing suits--most likely one bikini and one tankini that mix and match.

Two flip flops (one is more like a sandal and it can be worn with dinner clothes), one pair reef shoes, and one pair TEVAs for land excursions. Bringing this many pair of shoes is killing me, but I can't figure out a good alternative.

Three or four pair of earrings.

Three or four necklaces depending in exactly which tops/dresses I decide to take along.

One bracelet.

As of right now I'm planning on three pair of shorts, four tops that can go day or night, two reef shirts, two pair of slacks, two dresses, one skirt.

I'll also bring two sets of yoga clothes--probably one capri style yoga pants and one Bikram shorts, tech/burnout tank, sports bras that I can use for cardio as well. (I am attending yoga classes in LA prior to flying to Tahiti, so I might actually need a third set.)

Of course underwear (3-4 sets including what I wear on the plane) and something to sleep in, plus a pair of fuzzy socks to keep my feet warm while I sleep on the plane.

I will probably wear yoga pants and one of the tanks with a light cotton sweater and my running shoes on the plane, although I plan on bringing a long black cotton knit skirt and might just wear that instead. I'll also have a pashmina for the plane which I can use as a blanket and will double as a wrap if I get chilly in the evening on the ship.

All of that will easily fit into my 20" suitcase.

Ok ladies.... here's a very important question!

How many handbags to you take on a cruise?

My number is 4.....

To be fair No.1 is my travel bag for on the plane so technically it doesn't count ;)

No.2 is my off ship day bag. Normally a cross body bag big enough for a bottle of water and all the others things ladies like to have in a handbag :)

No.3 is a beach bag or tote bag for days onboard. I recently read on another board that this is a major sign of a 'newbie' cruiser, but to me I want to take my towel, sun cream, book, dailies, sunglasses etc. with me so I can find a sun lounger and that's me set for the day - no need to trudge back to my room every time I need something. Anyone else care to weigh in?

No.4 is my small evening bag. Just big enough to put my sign and sail card in, my camera and maybe a lippy.

Well ladies, what's your number and why?

I bring the same as the OP and for the same reasons....I just picked up a bag with RFID protection....

I would use the same bag for the plane, pool, and shore excursions. I keep my card in my hand or pocket, camera on the strap around my wrist if I even carry one, and don't carry lipstick.

Actually I do want to know how many shoes, earrings , swimsuits, etc. you bring. I always think I pack too much but want options, you know? Do tell!

There were 14 pairs of shoes, 17 pairs of earrings (18 after I bought a pair in Barbados), 9 necklaces, and 7 bracelets. All of my shoes are flats, so they do not take up a ton of room. The bulkiest shoes were my exercise sneakers, and 2 pairs of Keens for excursions. I also brought 3 formal gowns (only 2 formal nights) and 11 cocktail dresses. This was for an 11 day cruise. There were also 3 bikinis, 2 coverups, 4 pairs of shorts, 8 t-shirts, and 4 sleeveless tops. The only time I keep my packing under control is when we fly. If we are driving...I fill the Mazda3 with all of my luggage.

Well lets think..... I have only done one cruise so far.... lets see if i can remember last years packing list......

Shoes 5 (2 pairs of comfortable canvas shoes, 1 pair day sandals, 1 pair black any time sandals, 1 pair low heel wedges) I have problems with my feet so i always take a lot of care with shoe selection!

Swimsuits 4 but I only used 2!!

earrings around 6 but i used the same 2 pairs constantly. Necklaces 2, Bracelets 3.

Day outfits 6. Evening outfits 5 I used 2 outfits twice.

I think that's it :)

I am afflicted with "bag and shoe-itis" but for my cruise I just take 5 in total

My travel bag is a Chanel tote that has plenty of room for my ipad, camera and travel documents

I take two beach totes (soft cloth like in gold and one red ) that can be folded into my luggage. I take two only since one year the strap on one broke and I had to buy a rinky dink one from the pier.

and two evening clutches for my compact camera, casino cash, and sign and sale card ( a Judith Lieber minaudiere that goes with everything and Louis Vuitton sunset boulevard clutch) both are small and do not take up too much room.

I wont go into shoes and clothes  but I do prepare a clothing spreadsheet before I travel that is broken down by day and activity to make sure I dont forget anything and try to "control" myself from overpacking....(although I sneak in one or two just in case outfits)

I always wear try on my clothes before I leave from shoes to accessories to make sure it looks the way I want.... from there... it goes on the list and into the suitcase....

Happy travels........

I used one lg structured tote that i packed my jewelry, kindle, documents and wallet in that was my carry-on for my flight. I brought one crossbody bag for excursions. I also brought a tote for sitting by the pool tucked what ever i needed suncreen, book, sunglasses and such. And I brought one evening bag (black) that went with all my outfits :D.

and if we are talking shoes that was hard to decide. I brought one evening pair 3 pair of casual flats, a pair of comfy walking sneakers and a pair of flip flops.

Well ladies, what's your number and why?

I take 6.

1 - Large white leather as carry on for the flight and embarkation day (holds all of my documents, jewelry, Kindle, iPhone, headphones etc)

2 - Canvas beach bag

3 - Tan wristlet for sail & sign card and lipstick for sea days

4 - Bright pink snakeskin clutch for evenings

5 - Silver clutch for evenings

6 - Gold clutch for evenings

To be fair, my 3 clutches and wristlet take up hardly any room when packing, and my beach bag is canvas and tucks into the suitcase nicely. So while it seems like a lot, I need my options and they don't take up too much space at all. :)

I found it! I found it! Something I've been trying to find for the past three years. A black cross-body evening bag with a touch of gold and a bit of sparkle that is big enough to take my Kindle. *happy dance* I don't go anywhere without my Kindle LOL.

I haven't done my first cruise yet but I'll probably take my regular five pocket cross-body bag, a soft zippable tote bag for the pool, and a very lightweight back-pack to carry water and stuff on shore days. We found the backpack in a travel store and it is big enough to take a couple of light jackets but folds up into a very small pouch when not in use.

So, handbags sorted and I've got another ten months to worry about the rest of the packing. ;)
