Hmmm... this gets me thinking.

Buy a $500 gift card for $450. Apply it to your onboard account. At the end of the cruise, cash out the unspent balance and receive the full $500 face value back.

Ca-ching. You just made an easy $50.

Do that with several gift cards and repeat for several cruises and you'll eventually get enough dough for a free cruise. :-)

Nevermind... apparently that's already be talked about :-)

Red flag smag, they could care less it is $$$ besides when cashing out they have no idea how you "fund" your account, I had a substantial amount left and did not want to keep it on a gift card as we usually cruise every other year and do not want carnival holding MY $$ for me. Had $629 left and just transferred that to my "bank account" and did play a few, made $60 more then went to the cage and cashed out. The others ahead of me had much more to cash out on so my $600 was chump change as compared to the others ahead of me, this is YOUR cash people, don't let Carnival dictate to you how and when to use it!

Not sure about them not knowing if you used gift cards, it clearly shows on all of my onboard statements as "Carnival Gift Card" whether they look that closely is another thing. But I agree it is my money and should be refunded as needed, however others had reported previously that they only could get a gift card for their refund amount. Don't think this is the case now, but yeah might go ahead and load up next time since you've past the $600 range successfully. I'll just sit back and wait for the check in the mail once I return from my cruise. :D

The casino does not know, they just know you have X amount of $$ in your bank account, guest services does know as you are right it states, gift card and then gives one a -$100, odd way of tracking, had me totally confused at first and it never showed up on our account when looking at it on the TV. Like I stated earlier I went to GS and asked and she flat out told me to either wait for a check or go to the candy store for a new card with the remaining balance. I also went to the kiosk to cash out but the most it would give me was $15......... BUT most importantly they do not know you bought the card @ a 10% discount, it is YOUR money why let them tell you how to use it or worse yet WAIT to use it again on the next cruise......

$100 Gift cards are being loaded up right now. (You can tell because the main product page shows add to cart but at checkout shows sold out. Its truly sold out when the main product page shows sold out)

$500 havent shown up yet. They might be available a little later.

I will have to swing by my local store and see if they have them. If so that's a much easier way to get them! My last card was delivered to my neighbor who wasn't so nice about it.

Do let us know. I don't have any plans on being at the mall any time soon (tax season once again!!), but it would be nice to confirm that this is an option. Guess I could call them, couldn't I? :o

Maybe it's just the mail delivery in NC. I only had that problem the first time after ordering when they no longer had e-cards, so I had no idea how long it would take to receive via snail mail. Just thankful the neighbor actually put it in my door instead of tossing it. And at least people can tell there's something in the envelope and not just junk.

Hope to receive mine before the end of the week.

Good catch mrneil !! You definitely have their number on how these things work.

I agree, $500 will most likely be loaded soon. I have seen them load one and then the other later many times.

Interestingly, the Royal Caribbean were loaded today too at $500. That's the first time I've seen the $500 ones for them, although I really don't usually look at them even when they are on there. There are only 19 of the RCCL $500 still in stock right now. Has anyone ever noticed $500 ones for them ?

They are right now reloading the $100 Carnival gift cards. You will be able to click the Add To Cart button.

But, when you get to the cart, you will get a message that says "Product has been sold out. Please remove it in order to continue checkout". It is not really sold out, they are simply loading them into the system and the product isn't live for purchase yet. Smetimes it takes a few minutes to a few hours, but keep refreshing the cart until the message goes away and you are able to complete your purchase.

You will know it is actually sold out when the button on the product page says Sold Out as opposed to Add To Cart.

Edit

Hmmmmm, something interesting I haven't seen before. Now, they are listed in the list on the left on the travel gift cards screen, but when you look at all the offerings they are not there, a few minutes ago they were. Not sure what that means. Here is the direct link . . .

How do you that's not doing that from being sold out this morning? The icon usually stays a while after they sell out before they take it down. I've seen the site let you add them to the cart for a while right after they are sold out. Just wondering how you're able to tell the difference.

After they sold out this morning, the icon changed to Sold Out. When I posted just a few minutes ago, they had literally just changed the icon back to Add To Cart. I've seen this happen before when they added them in batches thru the day.

Also, I have tracked them several times in the past checking how many were available and at what time they sold out. (when they are almost sold out, you get a message in the cart saying there's only some qty left, lower your quantity to continue checkout). Then after the last one sold, I would go back and check the icon. It would be only moments before it changed to Sold Out and you could no longer Add them.

I'm not 100% sure I'm correct, its just the behavior that I have observed. I've never seen the Add To Cart button when they didn't eventually go live. But also, I've never seen this odd behavior where it's listed on the left but not in the group for you to click on. Right now in the travel gift cards category it says Showing 1-11 of 12. That's certainly different !! :p

Note: anyone that wants to can actually test this as well ... There is only 1 Royal Carribbean left right now. Put 2 in your cart and you will see the message I'm talking about (you aren't actually buying it, just putting it in your cart to observe). When that last one sells, you will see the message change and also the Sold Out button appear instead of the Add button when you are on the RC product's page.

Do you get a shipping notification when the $100 ones ship? I know I got tracking info for the $500 one, but do the $100s just show up? I want to book my excursions! :)

Nope, I never did, but just look at your account and you will know when they ship it, after it showed up as shipped they arrived in no longer then 7 days for me.....

In my experiences when they show as "sold out" they day they were listed, they are done.....

But when they show up as "sold out" BEFORE they were listed then yea, they possibly will be listed, either or they are gone from the page now........

GOOD LUCK ALL!

And, Now the message in the cart has changed again. It's possible it was just a one-off like perhaps someone cancelled their order so their 1-5 cards came available, but were snatched up real quick. Or maybe someone typed something wrong in the fulfillment center. I would definitely stay on alert today. I certainly have never seen this kind of stuff. I'm positive the button on the product page this morning was Add To Cart, then it changed to Sold Out, then it changed back to Add To Cart agin. Plus, the messages in the cart changed. Very very odd.

This is my experience as well.

They also seem to either sell faster or have less inventory this time of the year than others. Perhaps more people looking for them as they pay off spring Break and summer cruises. I know that's what I'm trying to do.

I would also look out for the $500 cards again before the $100 cards appear again first.

Hoping they are back soon...just looked and they are not showing on the website.

Ditto, I checked for them today and they are not even on the site. I haven't read this whole thread (long!) but does anyone have a clue when they may be added back? Maybe they add them at certain times?
