Survey! UBP or UDP and who are you cruising with

I'm traveling with a friend in a balcony cabin.

We chose the UBP because although we're not big drinkers, between the soda packages we'd usually get, the occasional bottle of wine with dinner and then the few mixed drinks we would have purchased otherwise, it's still a good deal for us.

We did consider the UDP, but we bought that for our Getaway cruise, and we don't think we'd want to be "forced" to dine in the specialty restaurants every night to get the full value of the UDP.

We've never had an alcoholic beverage package before. It'll be nice to be able to get a drink and not worry about "ka-ching, ka-ching!" with each one.

UBP all the way! Sailing with the hubs. Last cruise on the Getaway was our first and we didnt get any thing extra. The bar bill was about $400 but I felt like I had to ration myself to 1 or 2 a day :Dand nag the DH a bit. Last thing I wanted to do was spend more than the package since we didnt get it, but we had no idea how much we would actually drink. So im excited that this time on the Escape there will be no nagging needed!:D

Husband and son in one room, parents in another!

We actually went for the $200 OBC, since last cruise we only spent about $100 on specialty dining and I had one cocktail (and husband none). We were happy with that level of specialty dining and drinking, so it didn't make sense to do either the UDP or the UBP, really.

Parents got an inside, so their only option was $25 OBC (which is better than nothing, I suppose!).

Let’s take a survey… what are you doing- UBP or UDP and who are you cruising with?

UDP (although thinking about switching to UBP). Cruising with Husband and 3 and 6 year old.

Sounds like us... A 3 & a 6 year old. We have the UDP, but Im really thinking that the UBP may be a better bet - More value

UBP all the way. Traveling with my wife and our then 1 year old son, My parents and brother, and a couple we are friends with. Everyone got the UBP. Its value far outweighs the other offers even for light-moderate drinkers (2+ drinks a day) so for us it was a no brainer.

To be fair we then also purchased the UDP, but because we will be saving so much with the UBP being free we still feel like we are way ahead. This will be my first time getting the UDP, but the freedom of "everything" being included will really enhance the trip I think. Nothing worse then thinking about money when you are trying to relax.

Six of us traveling (in 3 balconies): DH and me, friends, DD and her BF. We all chose the UBP for the best value, as it saves the most $$. Have reached platinum, so will receive specialty dining in LeBistro as one of our perks. Usually only eat at one or two specialty restaurants anyway on each cruise.

My wife and I along with our boy/girl twins aged 11. We first picked the UDP on both of our upcoming cruises, but then changed both to UBP. I usually get a few drinks, and my wife will get the occasional margarita, or drink of the day. We are pretty frugal, so I figure by getting the UBP, my wife will actually be more relaxed, more often on these next two cruises.

I wouldn't have bought either one of them, but with it being free, the UBP would be more beneficial.

I am traveling with my boyfriend. We took the OBC, when it was still $200. We are traveling with a discount through the casino, so we will get the drink cards for the casino bar. We pretty much only drink while we play in the casino (which is where we generally are after seeing a show at night), and we don't lay out by the pool having drinks because DB can't sit still that long lol. Plus, we'll be off the ship a lot during the three days in Bermuda. We will only do one or two specialty restaurants and maybe a little a la carte item here or there, so the UDP is not useful to us. The OBC will pay for our specialty dining, a couple of slot tournaments, and a couple of other odds and ends, so we were definitely happy with our deal!

We originally booked the UDP...sailing with DH, me, my MIL, and our 5 year old son. I didn't like picking something that MIL couldn't take advantage of and I figured we could work up enough OBC to buy the alcohol. This is supposed to be our 10 year anniversary cruise though, and I just couldn't shake the fact that I would love to just not think about anything! Used a warehouse store travel club to knock a little off the cruise and will use that plus a little cash to buy UDP, and switched to UBP. Also have the spa room, so I'm super excited!

Sailing with DH and our two boys (10-7) in a two bedroom suite so we get both. If we had to choose it would be UDP, as DH doesn't drink alcohol, I often have a glass of wine with dinner but that's it, and only ds1 likes pop. I don't like the boys drinking pop on a regular basis, so I'm going to have to find interesting drinks that make everyone happy! The only problem will be the next cruise when we likely don't have the UBP and they will still want the fancy drinks...

The only reason I booked NCL this year was the fact I could get the UBP. There is 3 of us my DS does not drink alot of soda but when he wants one he can get one. My DW does not drink alot but she useally gets a wine package But for me I am greedy I like to order what I want when I want and I dont want DW checking the bill all trip taking count. (Hate that). That being said the last time we travelled NCL we were satisfied with 2 nights at the specialty eats and were good with that. So I wont get the package for that. The most we will do is 3 nights if the MDR menu is not so good but there are so many options now like the sports bar and a few others.

UBP for us. The included restaurants are just fine with us. The last time we went on the Gem, we paid $845 for the package, which actually paid off. Our bar bill was over $1100. :D (Yes we like to drink)

We chose the UDP since we don't drink at all. It's the hubs and me in one cabin and my mom in another. Maybe it's because we've been married without children for 100 years and have gotten spoiled, but there isn't a cabin big enough (or a discount good enough) for me to share with a third person.

Sailing with my BF, we're in a suite so we got both, but I would have chosen the UBP and purchased the UDP if not. The last time we sailed without the kids, we bough both packages. I figured between all three promos, UBP, UDP, and $300 OBC we are saving us over $1400. That works for me!

No packages for our sailing in a couple of weeks (booked last July during KSF). We're in a 2-bedroom suite -- me, DH and a friend in the second bedroom.

For our Escape sailing, we got both because we are again in a 2-bedroom. If we had to choose, we might just go for the OBC. My husband doesn't drink and he isn't an adventurous eater. If it was just me making the decision, I'd choose the UBP. I'm looking forward to having it next year and am curious how much I will spend on drinks this year.

UDP...We are not drinkers. Bringing our own soda as DH is a little picky in that respect but he does not touch alcohol. Dining is by far the money saver in our case as we got the package for free and I was planning on going a couple of nights to try the steak anyway. I can buy myself a drink or two and still afford it nicely where as the specialty restaurants would have cost a lot more!
