Ooooh.... I have to try this. I have a cruise I can pay down booked next August with the $1000. Does anyone know if I can use the $50 promotional credit on an actual cruise I am going on with Princess later this year? I guess what I am asking is, can I use them onboard? I am hoping my folio doesn't reflect $1000 worth of charges.

The way it was explained to us, the $50 promotional credit expires the end of February.

Perfect. Either I will use the promotional credit on my upcoming cruise or if they allow it, will pay down my August cruise. thanks!!

Keep it coming -- I already got an American Express credit (way more than $50) for paying $1000 towards this cruise....plus some referral credits. Let's see how low I can go. Love saving money on something I love to do so much.

Thank you everyone, my wife and I bought one for each other and received it within 30 minutes.

I have one more question that maybe someone can answer. Here's the scenario:

Let's say I owe $1500 on a cruise for the summer.

1) can I order $1000 x 2 (one for me and one for my DH) in gift cards to get $100 in bonus credits? If so, can I use one card to pay off a cruise and a partial on the other to pay off the same cruise? In other words, can two cards be used for one payment and does the remainder stay on your gift card if not all is used? Sounds obvious -- just don't want to be stuck with extra gift cards (not that they won't be used at some point in time)

2) can the $50 promotional gift cards also be used to pay down a future cruise? Is there a limit to how many can be used at one time.

3) can gift cards be used against the balance of your onboard bill including casino charges, gratuities, etc. I see land excursions are not allowed -- did I read that right? I know that it will be ok to purchase drinks and specialty dinners, spa treatments, etc -- but what about bingo and other gambling?

4) if I want to purchase $1000 worth of these cards in $100 denominations to be used as gifts for my friends and family, will I be able to do that as well and still get the $50 bonus?

Thanks in advance!!

This is no worse nor any better than the last offer of this type. The last one was: Buy $500 in gift cards and get $25 free". The free one had an expiration date. I bought the cards and used $325 worth on my last cruise. (For some reason my wife wanted to hang onto 2 of the $100 cards for our next cruise.) I was going to spend the money anyway so it cost me nothing and I got the extra $25.

This was a decent attempt at a Black Friday sale but with flaws. If you're not about to make final payment, it's a risk to buy non-refundable GCs. The promo value isn't significant enough to me to warrant purchasing.

Only the promotional value has an expiration date but the original $1000 can be used at any time to pay down your existing balance or for a final payment in 2 years from now. The only risk is if you don't plan on sailing on Princess again.

But, I do agree, the promotional value is pretty low for $1000 commitment of your funds.

Earning 5% is a lot better than what banks pay.

I like that the $1,000. is actually a digital gift card with no expiration and no name. They just send you an email with the Card Number and a Pin # so it can be used by yourself or you can gift it to someone (would be a very special person indeed)

The $50. expires 2/29/16. Today (11/30/15) is the Final day to purchase this promotion.

Yes, indeed!! I ordered one $1000 card and got the $50 which I will be using for my cruise this month. Was thinking about ordering a second one as well -- guess I have to decide by the end of the day on that.

Kind of loving these little deals that keep coming up. I would know nothing if not for the good people of cruise critic! Thanks! :)

So I order my $1000.00 card this morning, and I got the e-mail about an hour later. Everything seemed good, but when I tried to get a second card, I got an error message saying that the website was not available. When I open the email and click on the "view" tab, I'm getting the same error message.:( I even tried a different browser and got the same error messages.

Is anyone else having a problem with this today?

I am not having that issue but ordered my first round yesterday. Are you ordering the digital or the plastic card certificates?

Mine were digital.

Mine are the digital too. It says that it's "establishing a secure connection", the the page times out. I wonder if the site has too much traffic, or if it's a "Cyber Monday" issue?

Don't know if this will help you, but I just checked our digital card emails and they gave a phone# for Customer Support.....1-855-426-0168. Good luck and hope you get it straightened out.

princess gift cards on sale today. Not a great one but if you spend 1000 you get a 50 gift card.

Thanks so much! Just wanted to give everyone my story on how the 2 $1000 cards and bonuses were applied to my cruise in February. I ordered the 2 cards today and received both cards and both bonuses in 4 separate emails about an hour later. Called my TA and he applied the 2 $1000 cards and what was left over was applied as onboard credit (about $500). When he called princess they told him it would be easier for me to hold on to the 2 $50 bonus cards and apply them to my account once I get onboard. The Princess rep told the TA that if she applied them now it would have to be towards something like an excursion or flowers, etc. ??? I read the instructions in the email I received with the bonus certificate and it's exactly the same as the $1000 gift cards. Only difference is the bonus cards have an exp date of Feb 29 (my cruise is Feb 14-28). Oh well. I'm sure if I call tmw I would get a totally different answer. I'm ok with putting it on my account once I get onboard but we all know the hassle of standing in line at the Purser's desk on the first day. All said and done, not too much hassle for an extra $100 and today was my final payment day so it all worked out. Thanks guys you rock!

I wish I had looked at this thread earlier. Do these sales happened often, sometimes, or rarely?

I don't recall exactly but I think there was one last April. $500 gift card with a $25 bonus card. I bought one then and one yesterday and both bonuses were applied to my cruise fare.
