Did I miss this or is RCI now again forcing you to prepay your gratuities at final payment?:mad:I just booked Empress online and picked MTD and gratuities were automatically added to the reservation and I could not remove them.:confused:

It's been that way the last several years as far as I know. If you choose MTD you must pre-pay gratuities. With set dining you paid at the end of the cruise.

No, you do NOT have to pre-pay gratuities on any ship on RC, including Empress.

 

It is a mistake/glitch. (surprise, surprise)

 

Just call up and have them removed.

You don't have to tip every day, they will just charge then to your sea pass account.

When I booked our Harmony cruise and took the MTD did not have to prepay when I booked.

Same way on my Empress booking. I just left it alone as I always pre pay anyway.

He didn't say he wasn't going to pay his gratuities and/or pay them each night, merely that he didn't want to pre-pay them. Some people prefer to pay on board because they have some on board credit which can certainly go toward grats. :)

it changed my dining to MTD and when i checked ressies the price went up. when i called they explained that the gratuities were charged because of MTD.

When they changed the automatic prepaid gratuities for MTD we had them removed from our reservation. We plan to use OBC to pay our gratuities.

The policy changed some time ago. Really not surprised that some pages still need updates
