Wow, a great review with photo's,

 

My first thought was that Cruise Critic Message Board should have a section dedicated to great reviews. However, on second thought that is not a good idea. Because then no one would read my reviews. :D

I know there are more than one person wanting to know how this turns out. And cannot wait for the next adventure.

 

But being in Architecture school there probably is not much time to finish this. I also hope nothing has happened to her so she will be able to complete this for all her fans to read.

Hi, friends!

 

Thank you all for your concern. I worked really hard this quarter for two projects that I am very proud of. However, it was emotionally draining. My personal life has been flipped upside down a few times, and I've spent so much time working on my relationships with others that I feel like I haven't had any time for myself to do things I love (like write trip reports!). But spring break has been eye-opening for me, and I am going to start incorporating some *me* time back into my not-so regularly scheduled life. :D

 

So tonight, I am back!!!

You are in an epic journey with your academic life. Kudos to you with that. As far as personal experiences, no comment. Those are yours and yours alone. Regarding doing what makes you content, follow your bliss. We will be happy to see more of your report when it right for you to do it. Thanks for your past reviews. Back aboard the Pacific Princess, we spent our afternoon trying to dip our legs into the scorching hot hot tub. It was ridiculously hot the entire cruise. It was dangerous. They did a really bad job regulating the temperature of both hot tubs by the pool, and there were a few afternoons that I couldn't even bear to dip my toes in.

 

 

By now, we had made habit of meeting at the casino bar at 7 for pre-dinner drinks. We ordered most of our drinks from the casino bar and would take them with us to dinner.

 

I cannot remember the night - it might have been tonight - but our head waiter, Nelson, came over to make sure that Rachel and I were old enough to drink. Now that I'm a few years over the drinking age, I tend to laugh and roll my eyes when I get carded. We decided to have a little fun with Nelson.

 

"How old do you think I am? Guess our ages!"

 

He guessed me 22 and Rachel 24. I handed him my ID first.

 

"Oh, wow, 24!"

 

"Do you want to change your guess for Rachel, now?"

 

He debated. "You're 27?"

 

Rachel was so offended. "27!?! That's so old!"

 

We did mess with him by giving him my ID first. Nelson was embarrassed.

 

"You owe me a drink!" Rachel told Nelson.

 

My appetizer, Oysters Rockefeller -

 

 

I ate a lot of steak on this cruise. But not as much as Rachel. I think she had steak almost every night.

 

 

The carrot cake was good. Definitely one of the better desserts.

December 21 - At Sea

 

Finally, it was warm and sunny, and we were ready to get our tans on!

 

Notice how many available pool chairs there are? It was like this the entire cruise! There was absolutely no issue with chair hogs, and it seemed that the majority of the passengers preferred to stay inside. We never had to wake up early to claim deck chairs. We could hit the pool deck at any time of the day and find a chair right beside the pool. It was wonderful!

 

 

Rachel and I liked the tenth deck, forward, for tanning because there was a nice breeze.

 

My entertainment for a good bit of the morning was watching this clock get fixed.

Rachel and I beat Mom and Dad in getting ready for the evening, so we cashed in her Bingo winnings in the Casino.

 

Big winner...

 

 

Eh, a little bigger!

 

 

The Captain's Circle loyalty party for all tier guests was being held in the Cabaret Lounge that evening.

 

Now, none of the ship's events were well-attended the entire cruise. The theater and guest entertainer's shows always had plenty of available seating. The nightclub was always empty. And 90% of the ship went to bed after dinner.

 

The loyalty party was an exception! It was by far the best-attended event of the entire cruise (second place being the galley tour at the end of the cruise). It just goes to show - if you want people to attend your event, make them feel like they're special. And free cocktails don't hurt, either.

 

The irony is that probably 90% of the ship was invited to this "exclusive" event. With this being a 17-day-cruise, almost all passengers had sailed before, and most with Princess. I mean, who says, "Oh, cruising might be fun! I'd love to give it a try.... how about 17 days?"

Rachel's a huge fan of the pub mix. We were super hungry, and the hors d'oeuvres weren't cutting it.

 

 

By now, we had made great friends with EJ and Reggie from the Casino Bar. I think one of the best things you can do is make friends with a bartender. (And this cruise, we had so much time that we made friends with four bartenders!)

 

With so many people attending the event, it was taking a while to get drinks. But... it turned out that Reggie was serving at the party, and she made sure to bring us lots of cocktails. Really, she was awesome.

If you've been wondering how I remember the names of all of the dishes served so precisely, it's because each night I photographed the menu. It's something new that I hadn't done before (normally I'm Googling menus and trying find the match), but I knew that with 17 days, I was going to forget what I ate.

 

Maybe due to all of the free beverages and my pre-dinner buzz, I forgot to photograph the menu tonight. So you can guess with me as to what the dishes are.

 

I think this is fried cheese....?

 

 

Well I see some black beans there...

 

 

Mac and cheese, right? Haha!

 

 

Looks like scallops!

 

 

Pie... chocolate pecan??

 

 

I remember this dessert because its appearance is deceivingly delicious. Take one bite, and you'll taste paper! Princess does not know how to make a brownie.

So I pop up CC tonight to see what may be up on our Roll Call. Not much. Hit the Princess boards and....Yahtzee! Victoria is back. Really looking forward to more. Why? Because our next cruise in 4 weeks is a Panama Canal full crossing. On a different ship, yes, but, the itinerary is kind of similar, just going the other direction. Keep it coming if you can. Thanks.

So.. Thursday night, I decided to check the forum to see if there were any new and interesting postings.

 

Well.... Victoria...

 

3 days later (and much yelling to leave my computer alone), I feel like I have again been on the Adventure, then Epic, Island, Monarch, Fantasy, Independence and Pacific, plus visited again Disney World, Paris, New York and more.

 

I have now read most of your blogs, love your narration, detailed descriptions and have gotten to know a whole new family and their ongoing adventures.

 

Thanks for posting your Travel Blog and thanks for continuing to post your travels.

 

One question! In one of the blogs you mentioned a photography book that you recommended as a primer to doing manual photography.. what was his name again???

Victoria, it's so great to have you back 'onboard'!! We all knew how busy you were with your architecture studies but were very anxious to read the rest of your review. As usual, stunning! I use an app called Master your DSLR Camera. I know it's on the iOS App Store and I find it easy to use and helpful. YMMV

I have never been on Princess, not sure if/when we'll ever get to do such a long trip, but I'm riveted, waiting for updates! I have read ALL of your reviews and look forward to each new installment. Your family seems like so much fun!
