Once a Day Room Cleaning on Carnival?

Recommended Posts

You are missing nothing and you provided a clear explanation of this program. It was brought out so guests can customize their cabin servicing. Some late sleepers prefer evening only so they don't have to jump out of bed early. Some prefer mornings only because they know they'll be out and about when the stewards come but know evening times the cabin is occupied with getting ready for dinner, etc. Some, like myself, prefer both. Carnival, as always, didn't do a very good job of introducing this program and there was a lot of confusion initially between the stewards and the guests so they redesigned the card to read "Both" if that was your preference. The theory behind this program is great as the guest can state exactly what they want. Unfortunately, the execution was flawed.

What I think you are missing is each cruise has many first time cruisers who have no clue that traditionally cabins are done twice a day so they will pick only one.

If your cabin getting serviced only once a day is your deciding factor on taking a Carnival cruise, please don't cruise Carnival. I do not want to be your neighbor. Its no big freaking deal. We were offered the choice of evening, morning or 2xday on recent Triumph cruise and chose morning only. It was fine. The cabin stayed clean, we got our towel animal and our ice bucket was always full. And we tipped our steward an additional $30 (for the 9 days). And our steward Nolito was wonderful and surprised us with a $25 wine coupon.

Its your money and you get to choose to pay for the service you desire. It is my opinion that I do not want to pay extra for less service.

Just off the Elation this past Thurs. When we mentioned to the steward that we only wanted service in the evening, he looked a little confused and said they haven't started that yet on the Elation. We just smiled, handed him an extra $20 (explaining he better take this now before the casino gets it-lol) and said evening service was all we really wanted. Worked out great- we took our time in the morning and the cabin was spotless when we came back from dinner!

That's what we plan on doing, just the evening service. We take naps during the day so why have the bed made up just for us to mess it up again during the day

New to cruising, is it that serious that you need your room cleaned twice a day??? Hotels only clean your room once a day regardless if you shower more than once.

I am excited to take my first cruise, and as long as I get clean towels I will be happy :)

Hotel rooms usually have much more space for hanging damp towels where they will dry in between showers. One small towel bar for 4 people in a cabin doesn't allow for the towels to dry in between, even if everyone only showers once a day.

I can't even get one towel to dry properly even when it's just me. So mostly for that reason I like the twice a day service. There's only so much room to store dirty, damp towels for a full day in that tiny bathroom if you only have the room steward coming in every 24 hours. Some times I need 2 showers a day. Especially when spending all day lounging in the sun or on shore. The Caribbean can be very hot and humid!

Accept less and they will give less. If you only one once a day they will accommodate. They count on new cruisers not knowing differently

I'm sure! I know on our last cruise with 2 adults and 2 kids in a balcony cabin, there was barely enough room to put fresh towels, nevermind trying to spread them out to dry them. And I'm sure the humidity of most cruise locations plays a part in the towels never drying too. I don't use fresh towels each time at home, but we do have enough space to hang them so they dry and I don't live on a humid ocean. Unfortunately.

Well, since we are painting with wide brushes here. Cranky poster, more than 10,000 posts, jumps to incorrect conclusions quickly, based on post history seems to be obsessed with a single topic. Seems several users also meet that criteria. You sure you don't post under multiple accounts? Maybe have multiple accounts so "someone" in the discussion agrees with you?

I haven't been here long, but I think I caught on to you.

get in all the shots you can before you are banned again, I don't mind.

I have sailed on Glory last Dec and got both morning / evening room cleaning service. Plan a back to back cruise in Aug on Splendor, but recently read there are only once a day room cleaning services now.

Is it true? Any one sailed on Splendor recently and experienced that?

I have read someone from Carnival says that customers were given a choice to do either Morning, Evening, or Both. But some clients said the room attendants literately refuse to honor the "both" and insist they will do only morning, or evening.

It seems no firm words from Carnival explains this clearly. Please if anyone can clarify the situation. Thnx.

I sailed Splendor in April. Was asked which one I would prefer morning or evening. No paper to fill out, it was a verbal question asked by my cabin steward.

I'm not sure why anyone would suggest that you must be a slob to want twice a day service. It's not as if I expect the steward to pick up our clothes or toiletries. We have five people in the room. In such a small space, I work hard to keep our things neat and need help from the steward. We need the upper beds put up and down, the large pile of wet towels we've accumulated replaced (because they will never get dry with no room to hang them and five swimsuits), the tiny trash cans emptied, and dishes removed because I hate stacking them in the hallway. It's also a nice touch to have the beds made, a towel animal for the kids to enjoy, and the fun times waiting on the bed. Beach excursions with kids also always means some sand in the room, and it's nice to have that cleaned up while we're at dinner.

wow.. i am amazed.. i am going on the carnival sunshine,, so i read this.. and i really guess the service was as bad as experienced cruisers saw on the ncl breakaway disaster cruise i took in april. noone would have complained about having the cabin cleaned only once a day... there were several cabins that were not cleaned at all everyday!!

i guess we will feel very spoiled on this upcoming cruise if they do in fact clean the cabin 2x a day!!!

We sailed on the Dream on April 24th and our room steward asked us when we met him whether we wanted morning or evening turn down.He did it in the morning but we would have left over dishes from room service and glasses left that night and dirty towels. We finally had to ask him to come give us fresh towels and he did it even though he said he wasn't supposed to.Was not happy about this.

With a little communication with your steward, this option has been available since the beginning of time. No form needed.

We will always have twice a day service.

On most port days we have excursions booked and need to shower after these excursions. We want fresh towels for the morning showers the next day, so we like the evening service.

We also use our beach towels on lots of the excursions and need to have those swapped out as well.

We want the ice bucket filled at all times.

We do use the bathrobes for our sunrise coffee hour each morning on the balcony.

So, we always make sure to meet our Stateroom Steward as soon as we get on the ship and let him/her know what we would appreciate from him/her. When the card becomes the method on the ships we are on we will make the appropriate choices for us.

It makes life a lot easier and more fun when we do not waste our time and energy trying to see the negative in every change Carnival, or any other company we use, decides to make. If you spend your time searching for how and why companies and people are trying to cheat you, then you will never be happy or enjoy the things that you should be enjoying. Leads to nothing but disappointment and unhappiness.

Just so you know when you get back on the ship after an excursion, right after the security line there is someone there with 2 big blue bins. One is for dirty blue towels and the other is full of clean ones. You can exchange them right then and there. No need to drag a damp, sandy towel back to your stateroom. I take advantage of that every time.

Oh wow - I've never noticed that. I'll be sure to look next time. I guess we've always been in such a hurry to get back upstairs I never really looked around.
