For some reason we are VIP

Congratulations. I'd bet it was because of your letter....niceness pays off. Like you, I would not have asked onboard, just enjoyed the perk.

Thank you. We did.

I know Andy inquired quite a bit about my travel plans, and this wasn't long before the TA, so that makes the most sense. I'd simply forgotten about it.

I still have a hard time believing that NCL Hotel Directors dig into random posters on CC in order to identify them and give them VIP. If so, we'd have certainly heard about it from others much more worthy. But who knows? If people want to believe that being snarky on a message board got someone like me all this special attention, who am I to burst your dreams?

I filled out a NCL survey last week about our recent cruise and on it it specifically asked if I knew, read, or posted on this site! They know....computer people can figure out faster than you can have a pizza delivered!

I'm sure they can if they want to. I just doubt that they award VIP that way. Or maybe I'm just the first one ever. Doesn't that make me, like, the queen of CC since this has never been reported before? I'm #1! I'm #1!! Woot!! (Everybody's like, "How can I be more like LrgPizza on CC in order to get VIP?") Must be the sarcasm.

I always lie and say "No" to the CC question. I don't admit it to anyone on the ships either.

I love the Cubs, too.

I love the Cubs as well. My niece's husband pitches for them.

Last year I made the HUGE mistake of cruising on opening day. Never again.

At least my unlimited internet and MLB TV premium kept me in the game, so to speak.

Lovethecubs it is!

Maybe you have been chosen to evaluate the new Latitude Silver Reward Program for which we've been waiting for over five years. Depending on your response, the new rewards will be released this year. :):):)

Oh come on, Pizza. You are as snarky as they come! Don't be mad if you get a little back.

fwiw, the HD dart throwing story is far more believable than NCL identifying CC posters. I'm glad you enjoyed your trip.

Don't stop the snark! xox

We just got off the Escape this morning, and for the 2nd straight cruise, we were given VIP service. We have no idea why! The perks included:

- Fruit basket and mini-sandwiches in our cabin upon boarding

- Other snacks every single afternoon

- Robes and slippers (embroidered with Haven)

- Bvlgari bath products

- Personal concierge who called every day to check on us, and offered to make reservations, escort us to shows, etc. (We used her to get into a sold out restaurant we weren't able to book ourselves!)

- Invite to Captain's reception in the Haven (we thought it would be funny to wear the robes, but we refrained).

- Invite to private VIP event in District Brewhouse

- Priority disembarkation (luggage tags and escort off the ship).

We are silver latitudes level. We sail in standard balcony cabins. We rarely gamble on the ship, and we spend very little... We have no clue why we have been selected to be VIPs twice now, but we certainly aren't complaining!

Can anyone shed any light on why this might happen?

I gotta think the internal file NCL has on you comes into play.

One theory ..... LrgPizza was having a bad day, decided to start a thread about some "phantom" VIP treatment to bring the attention to themselves..... if not, it's just a piece of "grandstanding entitlement" to post "look what I received for the second time and by gosh I have no idea why..... you mean, not all of you get this?"

No personal attack on LrgPizza meant and I'm just being the devil's advocate and sharing a thought "outside the box" because everyone is giving answers as this is if it is gospel

On our POA cruise our M&G coordinator was upgraded and so we asked and was upgraded to his previous cabin. But someone forgot to tell the NCL fairies and we got the goodies in our cabin every night and an invite to the cocktail party. But no special embark or disbark or tender pass.

Several years ago we checked in at a snooty hotel in Florida. We stayed there once every several

years with the kids.

A few weeks prior to the vacation I had read a wretched review of the hotel on Trip Advisor. I then submitted my own . My user name on Trip Advisor

is the name of a long dead pet .

We checked in and were shocked to be upgraded to the 3 bedroom penthouse suite.

I asked why and was told that they appreciated my review.

Was too happy to question how they knew it was me and didn't care.

That was an amazing vacation.

I can't say that's something I wouldn't do. Haha! However, I wouldn't know even what the treatment was if I hadn't received it. I met posters Stephen and TracyE at the Captains party on the TA, so they know I had the invite. I do have photos of my husband in the robe (which was removed from the closet a whole 30 seconds the entire trip in order to take that photo). We usually go through our vacation photos after about 3 months, so I could share. (We suck). Come to think of it, I'm sure I still have the invites from last week sitting here in our papers and junk that I could share, and I know I have the Bvlgari products. Let me know CC's trial rules on admission of evidence...

I appreciate the devil's advocate, since I usually play one. However, I'm the last person to have a sense of entitlement around here, hence my bewilderment at the whole thing resulting in this post. Besides the cool snacks at the parties and the priority disembarkation, the rest was not important to these "very important persons".

Seriously? Because people returning from cruises have nothing else to do? And if you have ever read LrgPizza comments, she is the queen of unentitlement. If that's a word. Geeez.....

Geeez.... someone has a minority opinion or thought and the world is going to end!!

The thread gave many positive possibilities as to why this could've happened and LrgPizza rejected them as not at all plausible..... so, I looked at it from a different view

and yes, people return from cruises with complaints, over the top great experiences, wacky rumors that they try to pawn as truths, elaborate tales of the impossible....

I'm NOT saying LrgPizza is is entitled or unentitled..... I just brought up a different angle

My guess is that the same person who gave Gambee's name to someone gave yours since you are a prominent poster.

Well, I'm the person who mentioned Gambee to Sean.... and Sean & I are Facebook friends...and LargePizza & I are Facebook friends...... it would be POSSIBLE (though I can't imagine he'd have time) that he could have identified LrgPizza that way....but I did not mention you to him.

Whatever the reason (next time you're being seated at Cagneys, look at the list they have (read it upside down) and see what class of VIP you're in...if you have Royal Treatment Plus, then it's probably because of Andy.

We once got on an airline flight, were upgraded to first class and during the flight a birthday cake was brought out and the flight attendants sang happy birthday to DH. We figured it was a friend or family member who arranged this but they never identified themselves and 40 years later we still don't know who arranged the lovely surprise!

Maybe a friend or family member upgraded you?

Actually I only rejected one - that it's because of my posting here. That's the one that most can agree isn't likely.

Congrats on the VIP!! I hope you had a wonderful vacation/cruise. It's awesome when you get the VIP, but it does leave you wondering. We have had it a few times, however, I'm pretty sure it's due to hosting the CC M&G.

Hey, someone throw NCL my name as a huge reviewer on here. :D :p

Did you use a travel agent, or book directly with NCL? I know that travel agents (the better ones, I assume) have an in with the various cruise companies and perhaps they put in a good word for you.

No, we booked both the VIP cruises online direct with NCL.

With or without the VIP, we had the best cruise ever! I can't wait to go again.
