For some reason we are VIP

Whatever the reason (next time you're being seated at Cagneys, look at the list they have (read it upside down) and see what class of VIP you're in...if you have Royal Treatment Plus, then it's probably because of Andy.

Stephen, what the heck is "royal treatment plus?" Is that some sort of combination of Haven, Platinum Latitudes, and "I know Andy"?

We just got off the Escape this morning, and for the 2nd straight cruise, we were given VIP service. We have no idea why! The perks included:

- Fruit basket and mini-sandwiches in our cabin upon boarding

- Other snacks every single afternoon

- Robes and slippers (embroidered with Haven)

- Bvlgari bath products

- Personal concierge who called every day to check on us, and offered to make reservations, escort us to shows, etc. (We used her to get into a sold out restaurant we weren't able to book ourselves!)

- Invite to Captain's reception in the Haven (we thought it would be funny to wear the robes, but we refrained).

- Invite to private VIP event in District Brewhouse

- Priority disembarkation (luggage tags and escort off the ship).

We are silver latitudes level. We sail in standard balcony cabins. We rarely gamble on the ship, and we spend very little... We have no clue why we have been selected to be VIPs twice now, but we certainly aren't complaining!

Can anyone shed any light on why this might happen?

Happened to us on the Gem. Included an invite to Cagney's for breakfast and lunch for the duration of the cruise. Don't know the reason but was very happy!:)

Nah....nothing to do with Haven or Latitudes, or even 'knowing' Andy. He has to like you, too! ;)

It's just a naming convention they use for a set of benefits which are commonly labeled VIP. They may or may not include treats every day (or once, or thrice), or Cagneys B & L, etc.

Sometimes it's at the discretion of the Hotel Director, other times it's a suggestion from Miami to treat somebody extra-special.....for whatever reason.

I don't know him, but I think he knows me for some reason...

Stephen (sjbtdz) seems to know him, tho.

Do you have a copy of the nice letter you sent to Andy Stuart? So that I could borrow it and send it to him from me, (with a few tweaks) [emoji23]

I would like some of that VIP treatment on my Epic TA coming up [emoji38][emoji12]

The first time I was VIP I'm sure it was due to me being head of the meet and greet. Afterwards when I was given VIP a few times the only reason I could figure out was maybe due to the captain or HD knowing me from a previous cruise.

You mean which ones did we occupy? We were in 13870, and on the other it was 14268, I think.

I guess you wanted to make it easy for Ncl to identify you by disclosing your cabins

If you think your identity regarding Ncl and CC is unknown

That has now changed as you just disclosed to Ncl who you are on CC and now Ncl knows exactly who you are

I agree with some other posters that you started this thread to be self serving

LrgPizza I think that it is probably time to close this thread!!

I am glad to have read it because I now think that I might email the CEO about some minor issue and organise a meet and greet for my next cruise.

Really? Do you all think NCL is combing these threads and looking up who people are? I don't.

If you don't think they read these threads that's fine

However.....they do and to think otherwise is impractical

But to answer the question of ncl looking people up?

I don't think that's what they do I believe what they do to get ideas and suggestions from these threads....

But in this particular scenario....large pizza lady gives her date Of cruise....cabin numbers.....and details of getting VIP treatment....

If I were the ncl employee monitoring cc....not only would I be following this particular thread....but I bet with 1 or 2 computer clicks I would know exactly who pizza is in the real world

No not on a regular basis but I do know they read cc and my guess is that in this case they may just want to put real name to CC handle name

Just a logical realistic presumption

I was on the same cruise as you, staying in the solo cabins. I also arranged the CC Meet and Greet, and received 90% of the same perks you did, minus the personal concierge and escort off the ship. The Bvlgari bath products were fantastic compared to the "regular" stuff, and I was able to get the room steward to get me more. (which I gave to my 2 female neighbors in the cabins next to me...) At a certain point, I wished they would stop bringing the snacks because I just couldn't eat them all...

I was randomly given VIP treatment on my March Gem cruise. My key card was at the Haven pre-boarding lounge and I received all the benefits and invites the OP listed. At the time I was Gold Latitudes. I was in a balcony cabin.

I didn't organize or attend the M&G. I never wrote any letters to NCL. I have no rapport with anyone who is anyone at NCL. LOL I rarely post on CC (except I did also post when I got back to see if anyone could figure out why I received VIP benefits!)

The ONLY thing I could think of at the time is that I am VIP level with Casinos at Sea - BUT I have had that status on previous cruises (and have sailed again since the Gem but didn't receive the VIP benefits.) I asked in the Casino during the cruise, and the casino host said they had nothing to do with it. I called Customer Service when I got back and they also had no idea.

I just got back from my Breakaway Bermuda cruise. No VIP treatment for me (other than casino VIP perks.)

So, still a mystery for me. But congrats & hope it continues for you!! :)

I don't think it is from someone posting on Cruise Critic, but wondering if, in your case and LrgPizza's case, it wasn't the person who you booked the cruise with. Whether it be CAS or the regular line, I'm guessing that sometimes when they get a polite happy person to deal with, they have the option to give the perk. Just think about it, probably during the day, they deal with a lot of complainers/whiners/grumpy folks and when they get a really nice person, they probably want to reward them. Just a thought.

I guess when one gets it, other than the organizer of the Meet and Greet which seems to happen most of the time, they should just enjoy and not wonder where it came from.

Why would they care? They used to sometimes post when a big fuss was made by a CC member but I haven't seen it in ages.
