Right now...as it stands..NCL holds all the cards....sets the prices they feel will deliver a product priced to perceive value to the end user (the cruiser) if they make changes along the way...only time will tell...

all the people making the most noise need to prove their disdain for NCL with their signature line...you know...the signature line where people brag about all the cruises they have been on? my point is...if so called loyalists are crying and crying about the water and then a year later their signature line added (3) more NCL cruises then they essentially have become the problem..now if the same people choose to flee the cruise line and go on (3) competing cruise lines....then they have spoken with their wallet.

Case Closed.

all else is just talk...

Whilst my original post was a joke (you did all realise that?) what you are saying is perfectly true. The only way to show the 'bosses' they are wrong is to vote with your feet. A few not full cruises and letters of complaint to Head Office may just make them reconsider.

I don't know if they read CC, but if all the people who have posted on the relevant thread actually emailed NCL they would at least know how their customers felt.

NCL have always had a more difficult time filling their ships in general, but when their three newest ships are sailing with MANY empty cabins in peak summer season from NYC and Miami that is telling, especially when competitors are sailing full at higher rates and less "freebies".

I'm in the UK where the upsell doesn't seem to work (if I'm wrong someone will correct me) and we are booked on the Breakaway out of New York over New Year to the Bahamas. At the moment we have an inside cabin but maybe I should have a word with our TA about any possible upgrade (preferably free lol):D

enough people are so cross about not being allowed to bring water on board that they will cancel their cruise and we will get an upgrade!! :d

(never going to happen but then stranger things.....)

lol!:d

My guess would be that the people who are so upset about being unable to trolley cases of water onto the ship are not the ones that have the rooms that you "upgrade" to. Just guessing...... :)

You would be surprised! Most complaints I read on my roll call are from people who sprung for suites but not willing to spring $$ on NCL's bottled water package! Provides a good laugh for me!

Bet you might not be right. Ever read "The Millionaire Next Door"?

+1!

P.S. If you are able to cruise last minute, NCL has the lowest of low rates. Everyone of these missteps brings more of these last minute bargains. I recently cruised 7 night Western for $399 OV solo, and a 9 night Baltic for $699 balcony solo.

Keep up the great work NCL!

Maybe they can afford suites because they don't throw away $70 on $5 worth of water.

I always cruise in an aft penthouse and there is always a liter of water waiting for me, along with the sparkling wine, in my cabin upon arrival. I also ask my Butler for a pitcher of ice water and iced tea to be in the mini fridge and refreshed daily.

We will be in a aft penthouse next March. We do not drink alcohol do you think the butler exchange the sparkling wine for extra water?

I agree, I've snagged 3 sweet give away solo cruises this year (out of 5) - all 14 day. :)

I hope for more, shortly and hope to be gone the month of August, since the double= cruise next deposits will be used. :)

I've never asked. I don't drink it and get 2 bottles and I usually find a neighbor walking down the halls and offer it to them.

This shouldn't be a problem. We don't drink either and we usually send an email to the pre-concierge and ask them to switch it out for us. If for some reason it isn't done, we ask our butler if they would be able to accommodate and so far they have always said yes. :)

What everyone seems to not understand is that the people who see this new rule for what it is...a thin attempt to insult Ncl pax...are not "kool aid" drinkers and just can think for themselves as opposed to being blindly led by the nose

More good news - kind of, maybe - the new giveaway, details here - if qualified.

Keep on dreamin' cause the way NCL is playing this game with room inventory ... but, only after they are done giving away (almost, not exactly - with the administrative fees, surcharges, supplements, etc.) more rooms to CAS players and in partnership with land casinos.

Mailings are landing / arriving in mailboxes across the area as I type for this round of giveaways for the month of November, out of NY and FL ports, etc. on the newest & newly refurbished ships ... without going into details (those of you sailing on this specials, say "hi"to your postal carrier & if not, call your host/contacts).

Now, of course, they can pull those "giveaway" Drink Cards so that the $1 bottled water, soda, juices and Red Bulls, etc. can be taken away or excluded too. :D  and then up their ancillary revenue from the onboard players. $1 or $2 as tipping for getting the freebies - it's a better equalizer than those UBP.

No need to rush - still plenty of time to decide, got until the Fall to book as the offer doesn't expire until later on ... subject to availability, yada yada.

I haven't been on this board for a few years, and had to re-register. I saw the news about no bottled water aboard, and just had to speak up. I've already called Norwegian and complained. I urge you all to do the same-- 866-625-1164. Please send e-mails and snail mails, and vote with your feet!

I'm particularly upset about this because I only drink Mountain Valley bottled water. I don't like the quality (or lack of!) other bottled waters and don't drink tap water. If you do, that's fine.. your choice.

I also bring my own juice aboard as I don't like the artificial kind they serve on board. I bring juice boxes of organic orange and apple juice.

I'm a long-time Latitudes member, and am now switching cruise lines. I hope those of you who feel as strongly about this as I do, will do the same. That's the only way to get Norwegian to change their policy. Complain, and don't book with them.

What on earth is wrong with the tap water? we drink it all the time without any problems.

That could depend on the source of the tap water. Some of us have well water and make sure that we filter it before drinking it.

I will drink the ships water at dinner, and I am very happy that NCL should have Mtn Dew on board, my mother however not so much as she only drinks diet coke. She isn't overly happy about not being able to bring a few drinks onboard (normally she only brings a 6 or 12 pack).

My sister can also only have blueberry juice, which NCL doesn't offer. She has a medical condition that doesn't allow her to have any other type of juice. Also the only soda she is permitted to drink is caffeine free rootbeer. Often times that makes cruising a bit more difficult, but manageable when she could bring on some things of her own to drink. 7 days and not having something to drink other than water isn't very pleasant.

It is also pretty absurd to assume those of us who bring drinks onboard are cheap. I have sailed on Disney, NCL, Royal, Princess and Carnival. I have also stayed in a suite on 4 of our cruises, including one on NCL.

For most people the new policy has no impact at all. It might impact 5 - 8 % of passengers.

It is so sweet that you think that people who haul their own supplies onto the cruise with them aren't cheap. Many of them are the people who are complaining that the cost of the case of water is too expensive for them. It's okay if that's what you need to do. ;)

Exactly ECCruise . All the snarky comments from people who are too big (probably true) to take on their own soda/waters doesn't mean that they (i.e. me) don't book higher end cabins .

Short term takeadip , you are mostly correct . Long term , I'd disagree . Yes they can change the rules and abuse locked in customers . Long term ...?

One thing we both agree on, unless there are actual non-bookings and cancellations , " all else is just talk." You bet .

I would expect that NCL is expecting some cancellations. They might even be counting on some cancellations. It comes down to how the cancellation rate compares to their model for revenue/expense due to the change. If within expected range the changes will stand.

Millymaid, I am not going to debate this with you. As I said in my post.. if you drink tap water, fine.

But for those of us who choose not to... this thread is for you.

Actually this thread us about cancellations so the rest of us can get better rates and upgraded cabins not to debate water choices. There's another thread out there for that.

It has absolutely nothing to do with being cheap, it has to do with having what makes me happy. I will gladly pay for a soda on any cruise that will sell me a Mtn Dew. I have paid $8 for a Mtn Dew just to get a Mtn Dew - so call it whatever you want(I don't call that cheap, I call that paying for what I find enjoyable).

I will not however pay $72 for a case of water, as I don't particularly care for water that much. Not to mention it is super cheap in the first place. It is expensive and stupidly so.
