SmoothFlying Posted September 10, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 10, 2016 I had read last year that NCL was going to stop this practice (NCL claimed due to spills in the cabin) and since we haven't been on CCL for almost a year I was wondering if Carnival had followed suite. My wife usually likes to take something up to the room for later. Just wondering if they had stopped guest from doing this. I have noticed sometimes if ONE starts something eventually all tend to follow.
Warm Breezes Posted September 10, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 10, 2016 CCL does not and neither does NCL. The rule was short lived.
bury me at sea Posted September 10, 2016 #3 Share Posted September 10, 2016 Absolutely not. Not much room in the refrigerator, but ok to take whatever you want back to your cabin.
poobears Posted September 10, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 10, 2016 Would be a bit ridiculous if they still offered room service to ban people from taking food back. Not sure how they would enforce it anyways. You'd have to have hall monitors and doubt any cruise line has the funding for that.

Norwegian Cruise Line's decision to disallow taking food into cabins seemed to be more about encouraging passengers to spend money for room service than anything else. That move sparked outrage among their passengers resulting in a reversal in the decision in less than a month in 2015. Carnival never did ban taking food to cabins. SadieN Posted September 10, 2016 #6 Share Posted September 10, 2016 Absolutely not. Not much room in the refrigerator, but ok to take whatever you want back to your cabin. Nor does it cool below 40f for safety. We always have a bowl of cookies on our vanity.

Warm Breezes Posted September 11, 2016 #17 Share Posted September 11, 2016 Don't understand your comment Sent from my iPad using Forums I am not a believer that anyone can nickel and dime you. You choose what you spend your money on. If you are nickel and dimed it is by your choice to purchase something. I have not spent anymore money on NCL than I do on CCL and it is usually it is for the same things. There are times I will buy something different on either line but over all my final bill is usually very close to the same.
Rare jimbo5544 Posted September 11, 2016 #18 Share Posted September 11, 2016 So they charge for more things but you just choose to not buy them because they cost where in other cruise lines they are free. Sent from my iPhone

You must of missed this part of my answer....I don't compare who charges for what when I am sailing different lines. If I make a purchase it is because I want to buy something on that vacation....but in the end my S&S accounts are almost always very close to what I spend on all my cruise vacations no matter what line I am on. I don't look at it as if any line nickels and dimes me, I just have a choice on all lines on what I choose to spend my money on....NCL usually has more for me to chose from, and I don't see anything wrong with having more choices. Having more to choose from on NCL doesn't mean I am forced to choose to spend more than I do on my CCL cruises:rolleyes:. Things I normally purchase on my cruise vacations are a handful of drinks, a couple pictures (if the kids are with us), a few souvenirs and some time in the casino...both cruiselines charge about the same for these. On occasion on either line we may purchase a specialty dinner or a cruise line excursion, again about the same price on either line. I choose to purchase these items on both lines. I am not nickle or dimed on either. Edited September 12, 2016 by Warm Breezes

meanjean80 Posted September 12, 2016 #22 Share Posted September 12, 2016 Was on my first NCL cruise this summer and had no issue doing what I often do...running up to Lido to get coffee and some nibbles to bring back to the room. Nobody said anything so I am assuming this issue died quickly.

Sent from my iPad using Forums As I said in my reply, they may charge for a few more things.....but no one is forcing you to buy them. You have a choice on what you purchase no matter which line you are sailing on. Some lines offer more for fee items than others. Just like if you are purchasing a car, not all makes and models offer the same things included and/or upgrades that you can purchase. I love having the choices. If you choose to purchase items on a cruise, then you are nickel and diming yourself. NCL did not dig in your pocket and pull out your change...you did.
