We also like the Embassy Suites on 17th St. It is walking distance to a Total Wines store & a grocery (Publix) in case you need sunscreen or other sundries. Several nice restaurants in that shopping complex too. We like Gilbert's, great hamburger & stupendous Key Lime pie. Embassy also offers a complimentary managers reception (2 hours of beverages alcoholic & non) & snacks in the evening & wonderful breakfast. It is a $10 cab ride to the port & $15 cab ride from airport.

I am going on the Equinox on January 20,2017. Would like to know where should I stay the night before. A clean and good hotel.

Thank you

Johanne

You may want to post your question there.

It already has lots of recommendations for Ft. Lauderdale hotels, including the Embassy Suites that dkjretired recommended.

For example, take a look at these threads

Ft. Lauderdale Q&A/FAQ

What is your favorite hotel in Fort Lauderdale/PreCruise

Riverside Hotel or Embassy on 17th Street

We have stayed at Comfort Inn and Suites, 1800 South Federal, not far from Embassy Suites a few years ago now, when prices were around $80-$90 per night. Had shuttle to and from the airport and Port Everglades. Now, they are over $300! This might be Canadian pricing, but is still totally ridiculous.

The following prices are U.S. $.

Also have stayed at the Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina the last few cruises. It is right down on the water on the other side of the 17th Street bridge. Close to restaurants as theirs is Asian Fusion.. yuck. They do have a nice menu at the poolside bar, though. No shuttle. Their prices can skyrocket like the other hotels at prime time. For our Nov. 6 cruise, the price was $264/night, up from about $161 in late October. Which is why we are trying the Courtyard Fort Lauderdale Plantation. They have a shuttle to and from the airport and cruiseport, for about $170. Recommended by our TA who stayed there in Feb. last.

Post cruise for two days, we are staying at the Embassy Suites for $160

My advice, is to check out travel websites, check for Fort Lauderdale hotels, and see what prices are being put out there. In the last few years, those hotels have held all of us cruise passengers to ransom!!! Peak times are horrendous.

Head to the Florida ports board. Ask your question and include your budget. We like to stay at a beach hotel. Not the 17th St. hotels. Hotel rates will vary and winter isn't cheap.

Another vote for the Embassy Suites.we book a higher floor room (executive?). Slightly more expensive but includes drinks and snacks from vending. We ask for a port facing room, set the alarm early and get up to watch the ship come in!

We've always stayed at the crowne plaza. They pick us up at the airport and take us to the cruise port for $8 each. They also have a great restaurant. We've always had a great stay and it's so close to both the airport and the cruise port.

We do the same. The extra expense is well worth it.

Hilton Marina is a great alternative.

Do you mean you do the same 'book the executive suites' or 'set your alarm and get up really early to see the ship come in'.

It would be very reassuring to know we are not the only ones who get up at 'silly o'clock' to watch our cruise ship arrive!
