the newest ships are NOT sailing from FL

Recommended Posts

Press release says groundbreaking was March 8, 2017

Yes, during the Jan sailing on Navigator I saw nothing, by the April sailing, there was extensive work being done there as well as existing Terminal F.

I know. All you get in Florida are those ancient Harmony & Symphony ships.

HA!! It's funny because it's true. I think the OP should more specifically label the newest Quantum class ships aren't in Florida. And after just having sailed (and loved) the Anthem...Florida is doing OK because personally Oasis class is head and shoulders above the Quantum class INMHO.

Will any Quantum class ship go to FL soon? I wouldn't be surprised if one of them does in near future.

I doubt as they better suited for colder climates with so little of open deck space.

Again, other than bringing a Quantum ship to Florida, it does not fix the high cost to cruise nor the port issue.

Is it really a big deal to have a Quantum class ship that will be MORE expensive than Oasis, and just add Grand Caymen?

It's not as if you would actually sail on it.

One other reason I can see not coming- Freedom ships. The difference between Quantum and Freedom? A plus is the different and new ship, the minus is cabin fares that will be significantly more expensive.

And I can remember when people used to say that the Voyager class ships would never leave the Caribbean because they didn't have enclosed solariums and were much better suited to warmer weather climates.

Exactly. And correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember Radiance Class being designed for colder climates.

Yes, and I cannot one single time remember being is San Juan and thinking to myself that it is really cold today.:D

Radiance class has more adequate open pool are. Quantum's area is about the same size for 4k pax.

I'm not saying it will never happen, but don't see immediate needs with so many better suited ships sailing out of Florida.

Thank you to everyone who responded to my Original Post. I absolutely loved my past cruise on Freedom-class, and quadruple-loved my past cruise on Oasis class. So of course I was hoping Quantum-class would be a stunner. Here are a couple of posts that helped me temper my neediness (in FL):

I was on Quantum shortly before she moved to China, and the sailing was in staff transition. It was interesting to have such a heavy Asian crew on board, as most didn't speak a lot of English. We heard a lot from the current crew on what changes were being made to the ship, and they were a lot. Making the casino bigger, getting rid of bars and the music hall...making it more Asian market friendly. It was going to be a pretty big undertaking; there is no way they can have a ship switch back and forth from China to the US.

The Harmony and the Symphony are both going to sail from FFL.

As a final note, RCCL is hands-down the best cruiseline for nighttime entertainment. I enjoyed awesome cruises on Carnival Breeze and Norwegian Pearl, which were equally astounding ships and I would've loved them completely except their evening shows couldn't compete with RCCL's broadway-style shows. MSC had very skilled performers in Europe (not Broadway style, but obvious talent, not cheap). MSC is on my radar.

While I like Broadway shows sometimes, I miss regular production shows on newer ships.

You are right, MSC has great ones. Not only in Europe, but here too.

NCL'S and Celebrity's are nice too.

  • 3 weeks later...
You have all 4 oasis class ships sailing from FL, plus all the other ships and cruise lines. Where we live in Canada we have none, zero, nada, not a single one!

It's funny because I used to envy people from FL to have all those wonderful ships to choose from. I guess it's all about perspective. :ship:

I agree with you! We don't have any out of Utah either. :')

Have you seen any photos posted anywhere?
