Interesting OBC offer from RC - OBC Fairy.

Recommended Posts

Andrew, you hinted at this road trip of yours and mentioned you may do a review of it, I forgot all about it. I won't now, hubby and I are both car lovers as well and this looked like it was an awesome experience (except the accident). I don't belong to Facebook nor want to so I can't see it from that way. If you could post some of the pictures of some other cars etc on here I would be very thankful.

I believe we would love the experience and may look up next years- sold the cars so would have to get one Minor detail huh -not! Would corvettes be okay on the tour. I don't really consider the newer ones Hot Rods but I am a female, what do I know Seeing as you ended in Bowling Green, did you get to the Corvette Museum?

Thanks!

P.S Beautiful Car

Oh yes, Corvettes old and new would be acceptable. Really anything with power or expels coolness. Check out Hot Rod magazine or their website and you will learn about Power Tour.

I know that next year it starts in Bowling Green KY around June 9th, but after that there is only speculation on where it will end. It could go to Florida, PA, TX or who knows where. It covers approx 180 a 240 miles each day. I plan on getting there a day early, just like a cruise, and touring the Corvette Museum that is in Bowling Green.

If I don't take the Blue Shelby again, these are my current options for next year. A 2013 Boss 302 Laguna Seca, one of 25 for Canada.

A 2017 Shelby GT350, less than 25 for Canada.

I will put some pics together for a slide show and post it here in the next couple of days.

I kind of wonder if RC is trying to generate extra revenue for a construction draw payment on Symphony?[emoji23] Actually I wonder if only cabins that had great pricing are getting this offer. If you cancel then they can increase the cabin cost to what the market will pay.

That's a possibility. Both our JS's were right at $2,900, booked first day available

Wow, Nice Cars!

Hubs wants to know if you are a farmer, he was one so not sure why he's asking.

We would be grateful for the slideshow.

Thanks!

I should also mention that when you are on next years March cruise he would have no problem going from Ottawa to clean the laneway or the stray branches for a viewing of the garage

Our SLS was booked almost immediately when bookings opened. We got it at an exceptional price. It was "cheaper" than pre-Star Class pricing. This is possibly a great way to increase revenue if one cancels. In reality the OBC will only be spent on board which isn't a true dollar for dollar comparison. What you purchase, they are getting at a discounted rate. I think a flow rider rental, and a cabana will use some but that's not to say that I might cash a bit out at the casino.

The Filling Station is in Davenport, IA not Davenport MO. Its about 2 miles from my house. I hope to do the power tour one day, off to Goodguys Heartland Nationals in a couple weeks, that's the biggest event I've been to/

I don't think Big G's offer was to pay early for OBC. He's saying he'd have to rebook to get OBC with the booking.

I think you are correct with your comment.

You both would be correct. I was just amazed at the large OBC offering for that sailing. As a side note, I also received an email for final payment due by 'the next business day at 5:00pm.' Only thing is both my invoice and the website have my final due on July 3rd. When I called Royal, they said it was just a 'friendly reminder' and I could wait until July 3rd. Citing the cancellation penalties didn't seem like a friendly reminder so I paid it off.

That's right, sorry about the mistake. In all honesty one state led into the next especially after driving a few thousand miles and with the use of navigation over the old Rand McNally. I loved the long one way streets in Davenport that ran a few blocks parallel to each other, Brady and Harrison. It's a great community. I stayed at the Radison Quad city Plaza, down by the river and you could hear the train whistle at night. I didn't make it to LeClaire to American Pickers, but there is always next time.

I stopped at Rad Rides by Troy on my trip to Kansas City and spent a few hours there. I arrived at 4 and left a 6pm and they were still working. I spent a good 30 minutes with Troy talking about family, business and builds. He stopped what he was working on and took the time, a class act. They have some amazing things coming in the next few years and one car I could not take pics of but could look at it all I wanted.

He sent me to their paint shop which was a mile away in a non-disrupt building with no names on it. I got to see the car that they are preparing for the GoodGuys show in Ohio. So cool. You will enjoy the Good Guys show for sure. A few pics from Troy's shop.

Love the GT350. It's a "R" too, isn't it?

Here's a pic I took at work of my GT-R with a co-workers GT350. He traded a GT500 for it and said in his opinion, it is a 100% better car. I like the rawness (and blower) of the GT500, but the GT350 is such a nice overall car.

-edited to add- Got to play with a twin to your Laguna Seca on the highway fairly recently. Cars are deceivingly quick.

Dan, it is an R model and they are few here in Canada. Even though the Boss is deceivingly quick the seats can be somewhat uncomfortable... perhaps it was all the food porn. There are a few older Mustangs in the stables here (avatar pic is one) but I'd never head out on a 3,500 mile road trip with them.

Great work pic too. Liking the GT-R. I am curious to how the new Shelby GT500 will turn out.

Our TA called me this past Thursday. I was at the drag strip in Indianapolis for the Hot Rod Power Tour when my phone rang so I let it go to voice mail. 10 minutes later my wife Lisa called me and obviously that one I answered. ;)

Lisa said that RC is offering us $500 OBC. We would need to pay in full, approximately 3 weeks in advance of our final payment date for our September 30th Harmony Cruise. We are sailing in a Star Class cabin, SLS 1724.

They informed our TA that they are in high demand and they are looking firm up who will be following through and who will be turning them in before final payment. I said to Lisa pay in full and take the OBC. They really must want one and who ever is needing it will pay a steep premium.

As for Indy, it was hot and the races were good. Oh and the food porn was spectacular. I might post a few pics.

We were on the HRPT too. Did the long haul in a 66 El Camino.

OMG this looks wonderful- what is it and where did you get it?

It was wonderful. It is a Texas Garlic toast, grilled cheese sandwich with BBQ brisket and mac & cheese. It was devoured at Scotties Brewhouse in Brownsburg, IN - near Indianapolis.

Yes, we have over 600 acres of farm land and used to run over 100 head of cattle. We also have another family business. If you were down this way I'd gladly tour you through the garage.

Too funny that he asked that, he was also a farmer, use to have the same with 100+ milking cows, sold it and now we live in the corn field Gave up the farming and he went on to govt job and I have a IT consultant business.

I think you and he have allot in common!

If we ever are in your neck of the woods we would be honoured to take you up on the offer. I'm trying to get him that way because I would like to upgrade the motor home and we don't have dealers here with what we would want.

I found the gallery from the Tour, OMG there were so many beautiful vehicles. I can't believe some of them would drive that distance in some of the treasures. This is definitely on the bucket list for us but we would need a car first We need a bigger toy garage first though.

Thanks Again Andrew, you and your family are awesome! Can't wait for your live review in September I wish we could join you but bad timing for me. That is going to be a great review with all the other "live" legends on board with you.

I'm in "your" cabin 3 weeks ahead of you...and I also paid off a CL2, D2, and C2 in advance of the final payment and they didn't make me any such offer :(

I'm not sure how far off you paid in advance but we are now just 3 weeks out from our final. Without getting into $ specific cabin costs do you think you had a deal on your SLS regular or high price?

I know we were at the lower mark and by throwing $500 OBC at us they would either get us to commit or cancel. If we cancelled they could up the price by $3,000 to $5,000.

$500 OBC to them isn't a true $500 to us. Even if we cashed it out at the casino they still get 5%. If I rent the flowrider for an hour at around $450 their actual cost above repair and maintenance is the labor of the crew at approx $100. It is a smart way for them to increase overall general revenue.

Wow, Mustangs and food porn. You had me at Texas Toast- but I think I need a cardiologist appointment just from the pics :)

Maybe I should have put a warning in the thread title. 😉
