Cheers breakdown chart

We love the Alchemy Bar. 2 drinks pre dinner, 1 or two after and a glass of wine or two with dinner pays for it. The rest of the day/evening are free drinks. Like others have said, we can try new or different drinks and if we don't like it, just toss it and move on to the next one.

I should add,

-we got a bottle of water with every drink we ordered, yes at the same time, both covered by cheers.

-you can order a drink for you and another person on cheers as long as you have both cards.

-they will make drinks with more than one liquor, my fave was orange juice, pineapple juice, Malibu rum and grey goose vx @ $17.00 (i didn't do this often because that vx sneaks up on you.

I've booked it for our upcoming cruise, because it is a four night cruise to Nassau, so I know we will be spending most of our time on board. I paid for the cheers package all with discounted gift cards, so my cost per day is 51.60. I debated getting the package because it is more than I usually spend on drinks on a cruise, but I want to try some of the things I would otherwise be too cheap to try, like the coffees. I see my husband enjoying the milkshakes too. I think it will be fun to try to maximize the benefits, and try out new things.

This shows me it's TOTALLY worth it for us. On cruises we will easily drink a morning frou-frou coffee, go to the pool where we have another 4-5 drinks like a mojito or some sort of cocktail, 1-2 glasses of wine with dinner, after dinner we will have another 2 at Alchemy or whatever bar we are near. So yeah, I'd say we get our money's worth. At the cheap rates I'm sure Carnival buys liquor and mixers, you know they're still making a good profit. Even on people like us that drink like fishes.

Wow, 15 drinks a day?!? How many people are actually striving towards that? Could not even imagine drinking that many, even non-alcoholic with all the tons of sugar. Even bottled water, most people don't consume that much in a day. I know, I know.....vacation.

Oh man, I can go through a couple buckets of beers in a couple hours on the Lido. The 15 is very attainable, if you put your mind to it!

Where do you buy the discounted giftcards? I have checked AARP and Verizon and saw nothing. We were going to buy ours at the Giant Eagle and then we get discounted gas points, for every $50 you get .10 cents off per gallon.

I got mine through Verizon. You just have to keep watching for them, they restock fairly regularly from what I can tell.

On vaca I'm good for 5-10 + Rum And cokes spread out from noon to midnight.

Problem is my wife can not drink alcohol ( meds)...so on an 8 day for just me I guess I pay per drink?

I think I am going to get a bottle for the room and have a few out side would make the most $$ sense?

If you can get a doctors note, you can get your wife's cheers waived, but you will have to wait until you are on the boat, which is an extra $5 per day. I would also call to make sure, but my parents have done it multiple times because my father doesn't drink, but my mother is a win-o!! So, she can have a few glass of the expensive stuff plus her coffee and she is good! So, I would try that first, that way you can get the package.

haleyhlas09, is wrong.

Carnival does not make any exceptions. Last year talk with a woman whose adults son was in a mobile medical bed for the entire cruise. She stated for her to be able to get the Cheers package not only would she have to get it but the health aide and her son that had a feeding tube would need to purchase it as well since they were all in the same cabin. This was no matter that even the ship's physician could vouch based on forwarded medical records that the son could not drink and the aid would be fired for doing so.

In the end it did not much to her because by the second night of the cruise she qualified for the drinks on us card in the casino. With that as long as she was seated at an active table or electronic game looking as if she was gambling, she was able to order just about anything off of the bar menu including certain speciality coffees.

This happened in May on the Magic that my father was able to do it. Therefore, Carnival must have changed their policy.

I need to save this reply so I can copy and paste every time this comes up.

FIRST: STOP THINKING OF IT AS ONLY ALCOHOL!!!!

Yes caps - yes I'm screaming it.

We got sodas and bottled water, you can get coffee, milkshakes, etc,

Second: do you like being surprised at the end of your cruise? I didn't so I budgeted better with the Cheers package (Which I bought online prior to the cruise for a discount and I used the gift cards which also were discounted 10% so if you do the math there you see a different price for calculating then the chart has.)

Do you like to drink new drinks but feel obligated to finish them because you paid for them?

Do you like high end liquors?

Do you relish the thought of drinking a melted "Frozen" pina colada because you "paid" for it? Another poster put it so eloquently: it enhanced our cruise experience.

It did indeed for us last month. We had it for four days total and probably two of those days it really saved us money. The other two maybe not so much but I was ok with that.

^^^This. I cannot say it enough and it drives me bonkers to see people say that if you don't drink 5-6 alcoholic drinks a day then it is not "worth it." For roughly $55 you get unlimited nonalcoholic beverages to included sodas, specialty coffees, bottled waters, bottled teas, energy drinks, powerades, milk shakes, virgin drinks, etc. AND 15 alcoholic beverages a day. My husband is not a big drinker, he will have two or maybe three mixed drinks in an entire day on a cruise but he will drink a lot of diet sodas, bottled water, the occasional milk shake and powerade and will definitely take a water or powerade off the ship at each port and one to bed each night. The Bubbles package will not give him the variety of drinks he would like but the Cheers package will. I on the other hand, will start the day with a mimosa or bloody mary and have mojito or four by the pool :D and a couple glasses of wine with dinner in addition to the bottles of water I will have between most of those drinks and the bottled water or tea I will take off the ship at each port and to bed with me at night. The package is not just for alcohol!!! Okay, off my soapbox now.

All those drinks and you spend half the cruise in the bathroom peeing. ;p

I found them today on Verizon, under the rewards tab. $90 for a $100 gift card.

Unless the program has changed, buckets o' beer are not included. Cruisemate and I share buckets all day long since (1) the beer is on ice and stays cold and (2) we don't have to wait for a deck server. Wife may have 1 specialty coffee a day, maybe 3 or 4 drinks all day, neither of us drink powerade, energy drinks or milkshakes, and we have bottled water delivered to our stateroom (cheap) prior to sailing. Likely wouldn't meet the break-even point for both of us daily, so we'll pass.
