On Regal right now...

I printed off our boarding passes (for free) in the internet cafe. They are very helpful there, but you have to go down when they are manning the desk. There are about 14 computers for use and they appear faster than my own tech. If you log onto one of them for the elite/platinum free internet use, it will kick you off whatever personal device you're logged onto and you will have to log back in when you want to use your own device again. Reminder that parts of the Caribbean (Like today) might be on a different time than Florida, so if you are checking in 24 hours prior to your flight, use Florida time.

Bags are packed and heading off to our last MDR dinner :(

Still haven't found the answer about the Iris entertainer question, but the night's not over.

Hope you see this now, or later...

How is the Ocean Medallion process going? - What all can you do with the Medallion other than opening your cabin door and paying for some purchases?

Online casino gambling?

Order drinks - here and now, there and then?

Anything????

See post above.

Shhhh. Don’t let anyone else know the MDR is the best spot for lunch on embarkation day. [emoji57]

Or about Alfredo's, or about the great seating outside on deck 7, toward the front and toward the back...;)

Thank you for taking the time to write such a wonderful review. We will be on the Regal twice this year, once with nine sea days, that’s a record for us, but after reading your review I know it will be a great time. Thanks again.:)

Thanks again for taking the time to make us all more excited about the Regal and for giving us invaluable information! Three months until our amazing 25 day Trans Atlantic/Baltic adventure! Happy travels!! In Michigan it’s 4 degrees![emoji8]

Should have mentioned that that the internet cafe is open 24 hours a day, but is only manned certain hours.

Thank you so much for your posts. We will be boarding the Regal today. We’ve enjoyed experiencing and learning about her from your eyes. This will be our first on the Regal, although we are Platinum on Princess. Safe travels home.

Currently at Dallas layover.

We were off the ship at 8:40 this morning for our 11:40 flight from FLL to Edmonton, via Dallas and Vancouver. We get into Edm around 12:30 AM and DH and I are off to work on Monday by 7:00 while DD has second term of University starting tomorrow. DF and DS will have an even tougher Monday than us, though. They’ve both got 4.5 hr drives ahead of them to a community even further north of us, Fort McMurray, where DF lives and DS happens to be going for a 4 month Engineering co-op at one of the oil plants.

One of the smoother disembarkation processes. Usually, we get off closer to 9:45 and it seems far busier on board and at the terminal. We all had breakfast at different times as trying to get together on disembarkation day to eat together is near impossible. We agreed to meet at 8:40 in the bar by the intl cafe. The breakfast items in the buffet and at the Intl cafe on disembarkation day are the same as any other day. You can still get eggs done to order as well. There was no line up for getting off the ship when we left and the lines in the terminal were very short, with about 3-4 families in each customs line. We have Nexus and were able to use the global entry line which had one person in front of us. This line was to the far right (at least it was today).

With the 5 of us, 3 large suitcases and 4 carryons (the 5 days we were in Fort L prior to the cruise, the kids did a fair amount of shopping at Sawgrass and I bought my school wardrobe for the next year at various Ross’ :) we would’ve needed two taxis. This is what we’ve typically done, usually standing in the taxi line for a good half hr or so. I noticed that even the taxi line today was not too busy. For those of you who get off around 8:30, is this typical? We’ve always had it be an incredibly busy and slow process after 9:30. This time, DS decided to Uber. Once we were just outside the terminal, he called for one and a Honda Odyssey arrived within 4 min, barely giving us enough time to manoeuvre our bags to the end of the terminal. He arrived at the pull up place which is immediately at the end of this particular terminal (which seems to be Regal’s permanent terminal.) The Uber was an XL (minivan) and cost $22. We’ve usually paid almost twice that for two taxis. Couldn’t have been an easier process. I think we’ll definitely Uber out of Port Everglades from now on.

Other random thoughts for newbies to Regal...

The bar outside Princess Live has small pastries behind the counter. The pink meringue ones are phenomenal!

Hibachi Grill - a small section inside the cream coloured buffet (at one end just by the exit to the pool area). They grill up bell peppers, zucchini, and eggplant at lunchtime. Soooo delicious, healthy, and refreshing. They sometimes also do a chicken satay on skewers with a peanut sauce which is amazing.

The beef skewer appies in the MDR are also not to be missed. On our cruise, they were thin, and incredibly juicy, tender, and flavourful.

If you’re a French fry person (and if you’re not, what’s wrong with you!??), the poolside hamburger grill has awesome fries. If I want a French fry fix, i try to hover until they fry up a fresh batch (which during the afternoons doesn’t take too long as they’re so busy). They also have hotdogs, bratwurst, and knockwurst.

If you have a soda/mocktails card, the soda you get is from the gun; if you want to buy an individual soda, it comes out of a can. They have two different size glasses at the outside bars for pop. I always ask for a larger glass as they will usually give you the smaller one.

Coffee card - DF Bought one. The back says that any remaining punches after this cruise can be used on any future cruise. However, one cannot use it to get the free tea/coffee/hot chocolate after the current cruise. It’s very clearly spelled out. When DF used it to get tea, they carefully looked at the back to ensure it was from this voyage. (Date is on the back).

Did not receive the final Patter which has a synopsis of the cruise, daily weather, distance travelled, etc. First time not getting one. Is this now the norm or did we get missed? Have a scanned copy of these from every previous cruise as it’s a good keepsake and reminder of where we’ve been. Mrbucky, if you received one, would love a copy if possible.

Mistakenly said the MDR turkey dinner appeared on formal night, the second last day. We actually saw the final nights menu on the second last night as DF need to place her gluten free dinner order and I remembered it incorrectly. The final night’s menu, which includes turkey, steak, was probably our least favourite.

I hope this is just a fluke for your cruise (sorry). I also scan and keep a memento the summary document for all of my cruises. It would be dissapointing if they stopped doing this.....:(:(:(

We didn't get one on our 12/3/17 Regal sailing either. Didn't realize it until I read this here.

Thank you for sharing your vacation with us. We were in the A,B,C islands at the end of November and could remember a lot of the places you were reviewing. We rented Golf carts on Bonaire and drove around the island with our Canadian flag attached to the back of the carts roof. Lots of honks and waves from the locals. We are on the Regal Jan 21 and after your review of the ship, we can’t wait, this will be our first time sailing with Princess. So thanks again for pointing out all the special aspects of the ship. Looking forward to afternoon tea ️.

We boarded the Regal today - Got to the port around 11:30 and boarding was well underway so no delays at all. Football games on MUTS in cabin and other places except during in Muster.

We had dinner in Alfredo around 6pm - only a few table in use. Show was Sweet Soul Music - nearly full but few seats still available at 8pm. Saw it last week on the Pacific Princess but big difference between shows but to number of performers and stage setup.

Went up to deck 16 after to get popcorn - saw 2 people watching the MUTS movie - very cool and windy.

Last two days for us were chilly and a bit wet. The temps will definitely heat up for you in a day or two as you get further away from Florida. Enjoy your cruise!

Sadly, is looking to be a trend, based on some of the responses here. I’m going to drop Princess an email to say how significant and appreciated the summary is for so many of us and hope that it’s not a permanent decision.

We so wished we’d rented golf cars when we saw them all over the island. It would be an easy island to do that at - so flat.

h-sar thank you for the great thread. I miss being on the Regal so it was great to follow along with your sailing. Sounds like it was a great cruise.

Hope you made it home safely!!

Unfortunately, we are 13 hours into our travel day and still not home. We have a delay in Vancouver and will be leaving here (I hope) at the same time that we were supposed to have arrived home. So, looks like it’ll be a 2:00 am arrival. Feels like we’ve circumnavigated most of the continent today! Those of you who live close to ports are so fortunate. YVR is a beautiful airport. I guess if I have to be stuck, rather here than somewhere else. :)
