Boytjie Posted March 19, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 19, 2018 There are two ships in Port Everglades today with the Oosterdam at Pier 26 and the Royal Princess at Pier 2. The Oosterdam is heading to drydock and the schedule shows her leaving at Noon but from experience we know it can happen any time during the day. The Oosterdam will be back in Ft. Lauderdale on April 3rd when she departs for the Mediterranean season. The Royal Princess is scheduled to depart at 16:00/4:00 PM EDT. Times are subject to change as always. Happily@Sea Posted March 20, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 20, 2018 If she goes anywhere near on time, I'll be here. If more toward 'parade time', I will not.

Happily@Sea Posted March 20, 2018 #7 Share Posted March 20, 2018 I just checked marine Traffic and Oosterdam has appeared to have moved slightly, maybe ready to leave - nothing on radio chatter.
Happily@Sea Posted March 20, 2018 #8 Share Posted March 20, 2018 Nope, cranes are loading the ship - false alarm. We do have a close up on her.

Rare POA1 Posted March 20, 2018 #10 Share Posted March 20, 2018 Ever wonder about the red hulled pilot boat that just joined the Port Everglades pilot fleet? We were sitting out on our balcony watching the ships go in and out and I became curious. It's from Estonia and is the first of its kind in the USA. http://estonianworld.com/technology/estonian-shipyard-delivers-the-vessel-built-for-the-us-market/

jhannah Posted March 20, 2018 #16 Share Posted March 20, 2018 I'll bet the crew is already ripping up carpet and doing myriad other things that can be accomplished enroute to dry dock.

I'm sure the work began even before the last guest stepped off the ship - we can only imagine the flurry of activity going on inside right now. I took the Behind the Scenes Tour a few days before our arrival back in Fort Lauderdale. Below the public decks, the preparation for drydocking was well underway. But, I saw no such preparations in the public areas while we guests were still aboard. The only thing amiss was they ran out of a wine in my wine package, but substituted a better quality wine the last couple days of my cruise.
