Wine----sangria

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if CCL offers a desert wine. I like "sickeningly sweet" wines. If it tastes like juice I will love it, LOL. I don't like the "alcohol" type taste

Also, do they offer sangria and is it sweet with fruit or poured from bottle and an alcohol taste?

Trying to find some type of wine I can drink. Thanks for your help.

Yes, the Serenity bar has different types of Sangrias (see menu below). When I was on the Horizon a few weeks ago, there was also a bar in Ocean Plaza that had the peach and berry sangrias. I had the peach and it was delicious.

Last cruise we brought our own sweeter wine.. "borrowed" a pitcher from the Lido.. and got limes, oranges and limes.. left it in our fridge over night and enjoyed it on the Serenity the next day.

It was GREAT!!

They offer sangria onboard. My favorite dinner time drink is the Refreshing Sangria, you can do either red or white, and it has fruit in it. I’ll try and find a pic, I know I took one on my last cruise....

The moscato wine in the MDR is very good - nice & sweet. I haven't seen the Sangria offered at any of the bars or MDR. I wonder if you can only get it on certain ships or if I just missed it somehow. I do love a good white sangria.

We also saw Sangria's offered at Serenity on the Pride - I don't remember if other bars offered. MDR has a Moscato that's ok.

In PA we are blessed with a lot of local wineries. If you have any local wineries near you, a visit to do a tasting is really your best bet for finding what you like. Then you can take two bottles onboard with you.

I've always preferred sweet, but starting to enjoy some semi-sweet too. If you like really sweet, Niagara and Concord are like drinking grape juice:D Catawba and Moscato are usually sweet too. Most fruit wines (peach, apple, berry) are sweet, and while not for a cruise I recommend a spiced apple wine that you then warm at home - tastes like drinking an apple pie:hearteyes:

Our local Wine and Spirit store also carries a sweet wine that's supposed to taste like cotton candy:o I like sweet but not too sure about that one;)

I found a sweet wine while sailing on NCL last year, that I absolutely love!

It's called Lindeman's Moscato Bin 90.

It's smoother than any other sweet wine that I've had.

I live in NC, and at first they didn't sell it here, so had to order from New Jersey.

I was in withdrawal and desperate when I found out I couldn't buy it here :))

Since then, I have found it in 1 Walmart nearby, and one of those bottles is coming with me on Carnival next month!

We bought a Moscato at the dollar store in FT Lauderdale!! 3 for 10... we are nothing, if we are not classy folk!!

It was very yummy

I've started seeing a discount Moscato locally around $4 here too. Surprisingly not bad, although we aren't particularly classy either;) Heck, I even enjoyed Boone's back in the day - although I thought of it as drinking a punch or lemonade not a wine.

I ordered Sangria from the casino bar on the Elation last week. It was pre-bottled and they put various fruits in the glass and poured the sangria over it. Looked much like the pictures posted above. My DH was teasing me because my drink came with "snacks". :D

Try Manischewitz Wine, particularly the cream type. They make a cream concord in red or white and a cream peach. They are sweet wines that go down very smooth. You can try them at home and if you like them, bring a couple of bottles with you. (1 bottle per adult ). Just make sure you have them in your carry on when getting on the ship.

If you are embarking in Puerto Rico, buy a couple of bottles before you get to the port. They sell sangria just about everywhere, including the Walgreens and the CVS stores.
