No, the happy hours are unfortunately for those who used them, gone. They were being phased out on all the ships and I believe that has been accomplished at this point.

When happy hour was going on , the bar and areas around were PACKED, it took the poor severs FOREVER to get the drinks though. It was real popular and I didn't see it on our last cruise in March.

Alas no more happy hour/BOGO on Princess ships. The afternoon one usually at 3 PM but sometimes 4 PM was always very full and waiters had trouble getting drinks out. However the 10 PM but sometimes 11 PM in Skywalkers was never very busy. Most pax were in bed or at entertainment. They were great and will be missed.

Certainly agree with this. For us, saving a few bucks for lousy drinks during the BOGO Happy Hour was not really worth it. We prefer Crooners, and on our last few trips where BOGO was in effect, it was jammed full and we usually could not even get a seat. If we did find a seat, the waiters were being hugely overworked and the bar was too noisy to be enjoyable. The worst part was that to us, the mixed drinks (usually martinis, etc) were utterly horrible and tasted like nothing we'd ever had before. My wife's Cosmos were barely even pink and didn't seem to even have any alcohol in them. And with BOGO we were required to buy two of each drinks, for double the misery. On our last trip, on the Emerald a few weeks ago, however, there was no BOGO and our pre-dinner ritual at Crooners, in the absence of the huge crowds, was back to normal., that is to say, GREAT. And the martinis in Crooners were as good as they have ever been. Best bar experience we've had on a Princess ship in a few years.

We certainly noticed that there seemed to be a lot more groups, some quite large, in Crooners at Happy Hour. That's why we had such a tough time finding a table for two. We find Princess doesn't cater to couples too well, in the bars or in the eateries, with more tables for 4 or more being so prevalent, so I can certainly see why you would enjoy Happy Hour with a big group.

I don't understand the Crooner's comments as I haven't seen the BOGO at Crooner's. It was normally held at Wheelhouse and either Skywalker's or Explorer's. I haven't ever seen it offered at Crooner's. As for the weak drinks... I sat at the bar in Wheelhouse during the BOGO for many of the 28 days we sailed Emerald last October. As I was actually at the bar I saw the drinks being made and I never saw a single short pour.

When ordering drinks at “Happy Hour” I always reminded the waiters to ensure that the alcohol was put in !!

Once when I got one sans alcohol I just sent it back and asked for new drinks. That worked !!

Well, I guess we were hallucinating then, when we thought we were sitting in Crooners paying two for one for BOGO drinks. Sorry, but the quality of the drinks WERE dreadful. Regal and Ruby in the last year. On the Emerald in April, no BOGO, the drinks were clearly MUCH better than what we endured during the BOGO.

I wrote to Guest relations a while ago about this, their response is below. Like Elaine we have met some great fellow cruisers from around the World in the Wheelhouse on the 3-4pm session, alas no more. We will most likely save some money as we'll just stay on deck at 3pm instead of going down to the Wheelhouse every sea day.

Good Morning

Whilst I trust that you are looking forward to your forthcoming cruise on board Emerald Princess, I am sorry to read of your disappointment regarding the removal of the Happy Hour. I understand from your Email that this is a highlight of your previous cruises as it gives you the opportunity to meet new friends in the Wheelhouse Bar. From time to time we do change the services that we offer on board, however I would wish to assure you that your feedback is important to us and we continually review feedback such as yours, I would therefore like to thank you for taking the time to share your views.

Although currently we have no plans to reintroduce the Happy Hour across the fleet, please be assured that I have made Senior Management aware of your feedback for their information and future planning. Overall the feedback that we have received regarding the Premier Drinks Package has been positive, however I note that for you personally you did not find the package to be worthwhile as a wine drinker on your previous cruise. As part of the package you can receive wine by the glass for $12.00 and under, along with a 25% discount on bottled wine. This proves to be popular amongst our guests and I am only sorry that you found this not to be the case.

I do hope that despite your current feelings you are looking forward to your cruise. We certainly look forward to welcoming you on board so we can restore fully your faith in Princess Cruises.

There have been cruises we were on when the BOGO was at Crooners, so you were not hallucinating. However, on most of the cruises we were on it was held elsewhere.

The fact that some pax don’t like BOGO HH is not really relevant. Many do like it. It’s the same as Formal Nights, the Casino, or the Sanctuary, etc. Some love them, some avoid them. But they do take up space that could be used by others if they were not given over to these “exclusive” events. The Formal Nights lovers don’t mind if the non FN lovers have to eat somewhere else on those nights. The people who don’t like BOGO have plenty of other places to pay full price for their drinks too. All passengers should support each other as much as possible so we can have an enjoyable experience for all despite our diverse interests.

Oh well, Instead of getting more than half price for drinks now they will receive ZERO.

Overall the bar takings must be well down. The Wheelhouse Bar used to be packed for BOGOFF + $1 during sea days. My pal was on Caribbean Princess recently and said there were people in the Wheelhouse at 3.30pm but they were reading not drinking and the staff were just looking bored with nothing to do.

Totally illogical decision by Princess cruises.

Do they still have Happy Hours on Princess Ships..they did last November. Thank You

A week ago I sent an email to Princess asking and committing about happy hour. I told them I was strongly disappointed that it seemed like they had ended the happy hour (second drink for $1). I finally got a response yesterday saying that it had been phased out on all of the Princess ships. I personally believe that is a big mistake for the cruise line. The bartenders won't be getting as many tips, they won't be selling as many drinks and let's face it 2 mixed drinks for around $13 the ship was certainly making money.
