Have never done a back2back before. Can anyone tell me how this works? Thinking of the Sensation out of Miami. One will be a 4 day the other a 5 day. They both go to different ports which will be nice. Just wondering how Carnival makes this work.

Carnival doesn't make it work, you do. Carnival treats them like two seperate cruises. You need to make sure they are linked. Clink above on "Search Boards" and search for B2B

Carnival automatically “links” them. Nothing you need to do. You’ll get a note in your cabin that explains the process for disembarking/re-embarking. Basically, you meet at guest services, where they walk you off, then back on. They take a B2B photo of your family, and let you have run of the ship for an hour or so before they start boarding. Other than that, this is two separate cruises, with separate S&S cards, portfolios, etc.

If you can book the same cabin for both cruises, you don’t need to pack up, so you can really enjoy the last evening of the first leg.

You will receive a note on the last night of your first cruise telling you were to go and what time the next morning. They will have all the b2b cruisers meet up and hang out together while other passengers disembark. They have coffee and Danish type snacks here for you. At some point, they will guide you off the ship, through customs and right back on the ship where you will have a group photo taken and get a free mimosa. Then you are off to start your next cruise!

I don't know how it is in other ports, but, in the Port of Miami they always walk across the walkway in the waiting area and do a cheeky little wave to everyone waiting. Haha. I'm sure it is fun for them, but I always get excited because I know boarding will start not too long after :D

Your first night on board, go to guest services and make sure the two cruises are linked. As far as procedure between cruises, it can vary and depends on customs at that port. It can vary even at the same port. They will instruct you on what to do. You'll like seeing most of the other guests disembarking and knowing you don't have to! Enjoy.

I can only speak from our one experience of B2B with Carnival in Sydney, Australia. We were not escorted off but had to disembark with everyone else and then reboard including going through immigration (passport control) again. We were, however, given special transit passes which magically got as to the front of every line. We were treated like real VIPs.

We had to change cabins for our second cruise. I discovered that the cabin steward for our 2nd cruise was responsible for moving our belongings so I sought him out a few days before the end of our 1st cruise. He was great and thanked us for making contacting him. We could leave everything hanging in the closet and everything else we tossed into our cases. He said that he’d prepare our cabin first and to come straight to our cabin when we reboarded.

All in all it was a smooth process and I wouldn’t hesitate to book B2B in separate cabins again. And as a bonus, that afternoon room room service delivered a gift basket of fruit and cheese.

We love to do back 2 backs. We've never had to check in at Guest services to link them and we'd done a bunch. Of course, maybe our TA does something I don't know about. When they lead you off after the first cruise you get new cards and come right back on. They put a fruit basket and champagne in your roon and you can have several mimosas if you want when you board again. Of course, we've never done a short cruise but I would imaagine they are the same. Lots of fun. Enjoy.

You don't have to go to guest services to link them, just to make sure they are linked. As someone posted earlier, once their cruises were not linked when they checked. It's just a safety measure. You know, better safe than sorry. :-)

One small bit of advice, make sure during cruise 1 that guest services has you on the B2B list, One time we were not.

I had the same thing happen once... I mostly do b2b and ever since I always go to GS to make sure my cruises are linked.

We did a back to back out of Miami. It was easy peasy. One 1 other person was doing a back to back on that cruise. I liked checking out the suites when the ship disembarked.

Carnival does NOT automatically link your bookings. You should call to request, and double check at guest services after you board.

There is no "linking" required for a B2B!

I don't know why people seem so obsessive about this falsehood. Carnival knows who's doing a B2B. Do you really think someone from Guest Services will escort you off the ship saying "I'm sorry sir/ma'am, your accounts are not linked and you will need to stand outside with the 'unwashed masses'"... jeeesh!

What people calling linking is actually a simple report GS runs during the week. It lists all guests that are currently on aboard and are aboard the next week. THAT'S IT, NO LINKING!

Just so you don't get your hopes up (lol), I did a B2B on the Breeze out of Miami several years ago. There were quite a few of us, and we waited for over an hour in the library before we were escorted off. People were not happy that they had us get up early and meet at 7:00 and then sit there until well after 8:00. I'm not sure what the hold up was, but they would send someone in every 15 minutes or so to say "it won't be long now." It didn't take that long once we got to Customs area - but getting there was quite a hike.

There was no "group photo" and no champagne and fruit basket in my cabin. The only thing we got was a glass of mimosa when we got back onboard.

Having said all of that - I would do a B2B again in a heartbeat!!
