Smoking Area On Emerald Princess

Its been a couple years but this is what I recall from Emerald (and Ruby):

Aft corner of starboard side of Promenade Deck (aft of the exit door near Club Fusion);

Starboard side near the rear of Deck 16 (forward of the exit door near Adagio Bar). May also be an area aft of Adagio/SHARE as well;

An area on one side of Tradewinds Bar, Deck 16 forward.

Indoor smoking is only in Speakeasy Cigar Lounge, and certain sections of the Casino (may be smoke-free on formal nights).

I believe that Princess has hit the sweet spot with their smoking policy. It is not very difficult to avoid those areas that smoking is allowed, but there seems to be a goodly amount of area that one can smoke without being stuck in a small room with no ventilation like in the airports. Now, I do know that the cigar smokers are kind of confined to a limited area, but it seems to me that the cigarette smokers have some room to enjoy their smokes around the ship without disturbing those who attempt to avoid the second hand smoke. I avoid the cigar smoke like the plague, but that smoke smell from the first cigarette in the morning brings back fond memories.

Has anyone who has stayed in E731 comment if they could smell smoke, and if it was bad enough to keep them off their balcony?

It has been reported somewhere on these boards that yes, you could smell smoke on the balcony. The smoking area is on the promenade just forward of where the walkway narrows to go around the ship's stern.

Thank You very much, now I will make sure to stay in my lane and not double park in or close to the smokers !!!! They have there rights just like me, so I try as I might not to step over the double line.;p;p;p

We have stayed in E731 twice on the Emerald and never smelled smoke while the ship was actually cruising. Might be an issue when in port but we were not usually using the balcony when we were docked. Definitely need to hold your nose if you're doing laps on the promenade deck. Enjoy E731 if you have a chance to book it.

Thanks, I sit on the balcony every morning while having coffee and every evening once I'm done with the day. I would use it during a sea day, depending on what the shipboard activities are. So it sounds like I may be bothered the mornings we are docked.

I’ve been in E731 in March and on some occasions I could vaguely smell the smoke. But I’m thinking it was when there was a group directly below. And it was only a slight smell. My sister couldn’t smell it. But the balcony is great and I’d book it again.

Oops I wasn’t on Emerald but Diamond. Same cabin though , the last mini with the extended balcony above the smoking area , so near enough [emoji51]

I agree. I have had E731 on the Ruby. No problem at sea, but maybe smell the smoke in port. I planned my balcony use accordingly. Oddly enough, I had hostile neighbors who were loudly critical of my not using the balcony in port. Go figure.
