New debarkation procedures

It seems like everyone is in a rush to get off the ship. Trust me I have FTTF and can not wait to get on the ship as early as possible to start the cruise. To do that everyone has to be off the ship. But I am driving to the port and will not be in a rush to get off the ship. Can you still hang out on the Lido deck and east your breakfast and make the cruise last as long as possible?

Suites still get their tags delivered to the room too (at least, we did on the Conquest in June).

With FTTF they still have delivered them to our cabin with the FTTF debarkation paper. Everyone else had to go get their own. I don't think zone 1 or 2 is an option for anyone else to pick.

As I mentioned above, FTTF has their luggage tags delivered to their cabins with the priority debarkation paper. I would imagine D/P get the same paper with luggage tags.

 

 

Yes, we get 4 or so zone 1 tags

Just off the Horizon 2 weeks ago. We had zone 1 and it was called about half way through self debark. I never paid attention but assumed self debark first and then zones but they mixed them. We got called while they were still calling decks to self disembark.

For the priority luggage tags (1 to 4 or 5 maybe?) where people are gathered in a specific area (e.g., lounge, theater, or dining room), they'll overlap them with self assist (once priority bags are delivered to the terminal of course) because it is a limited number of passengers and they can make the announcement to release them in that one area.

 

 

For general debark luggage tags (6ish +), it would be chaos to make a general ship-wide announcement for debarkation while self-assist were still debarking because some people will debark when the first numbers are called regardless of what number they have. Plus, passengers would be fuming if they chose self assist in order to debark earlier and people with checked luggage got called to debark first anyway.

I have read the new webpage info plus all the comments here. I’m a Canadian Citizen living in Canada that likely will not exceed the shopable allowance plus I will be using self assist with my luggage. Therefor I do NOT need to fill a customs form, just have my passport and sign and sail card in hand, and meet in one of the lower decks meeting points to be one the first ones off the ship? Do I need to request a number for self assist? Thanks

Self assist is still an option for those physically able to go that route.

 

 

Do they still call self-assist from the highest deck to the lowest deck? That has been our experience staying on Deck 12 of the Breeze...Deck 12 was always called first for self-assist.

Nope. You can just go to the marshaling area and debark with everyone else. The numbers are for the luggage tags, which determine what area (or at some ports, which luggage carousel) the checked luggage will be dropped on the 'ground side' of the pier.

This system is similar to what NCL has been using, and it works very well. They use colors instead of numbers. Those with early flights and priority loyalty members can go to Guest Services to get the appropriate tag.

 

We sailed on them to Alaska a few weeks ago and I had to make sure my family knew of the different process because we were so used to Carnival sending us the tags. My parents were in the Haven Suite so they had theirs but my sister did get confused.

 

I thought it was great just because with 4 of us I tend to always have to request more tags and then wait in line, this way I can go down and get the number of tags I need ;) so much easier.

Our experience last month on Paradise was that self assist left with everyone else on their deck. Terribly frustrating.......:eek:

I had FTTF last week in the Vista out of Miami and our zone 3 tags were delivered to our room but that only matters for luggage as we met in the lounge when told 745am and were escorted off through a closed stairway down to the atrium they opened for us and was off in the time it took to walk thevstairs! Diamond and Platinum and is in one group.

I get that. But how many will actually pay attention? Lots and lots and lots of people on these boards all the time complaining that Carnival did something “wrong” but in reality they just didn’t read what was provided to them.

We did not have to fill out any form when returning from our Alaska cruise. We did have to fill out a form before stopping at Victoria, BC.

really? I just have no desire to go sit in the show lounge listening to debarkation talks.

 

I need to be off the ship by 8am. (and trying to decide if we do self assist or ask for zone 1 for putting our luggage out at night
