I just saw a post that Capt Jaret Barry started rotation on the Adventure on 4-29-22.  According to the list now for the Adventure, Capt Erik Standahl is no longer listed.  Can anyone tell me if he is ultimately going to another ship or what his status is with the company?  We sailed with him several times before and we were looking forward to sailing with him again on the Adventure later this year.

He could be assigned to another ship or quit the company, or had to be home for an extended period to take care of family matters. Who knows.

You know they are all entertainers right? just some are better then others? I wouldn't let crew's happiness or unhappiness effect mine on  my vacation. That's just me though I guess. Others may feel different.

I usually don't but after sailing with Captain Johnny in April on Harmony vs sailing with Captain ?? on Explorer in March...what a difference it can make. Loved all the detail Cpt. Johnny gave on his daily report vs just giving the weather report.

i never understood the "importance" of this thread. The captains are the bus drivers and we rarely see them...what's the revelance/importance of this???

Thanks for letting me know who the Captain is on the Ovation.  Just got off of two weeks on board and never once saw him out and about.  Other than the Hotel Director, very low officer visibility on this ship.

I doubt if bus driver's do this.   I like this thread.  If you do not, well move one.  I for one am tired of all the covid questions and testing questions that have been answered so many times. 

I think that's relatively minor.  The really big effect they have is their interaction with the crew.  The Captain sets the tone for the entire atmosphere on the ship.  A crew that feels valued from the top will be happier and a happy crew makes for a happy ship.  Interaction with the passengers is nice but the effects of a good captain diffuse throughout the ship.

not sure what you are implying using the words minor concerning my reply and the silly remark about bus driver as well. 

I do not even see my original reply to Johnjen either.

But to compare a captain to a bus driver was silly and I was only trying to explain why cc folks would be interested in the first place and defend this thread.

A bit disappointed in your reply back to me.   oh well.  I think I will become a lurker again and the heck with trying to converse.

James MacDonald didn’t start on Liberty on 6/5. We were onboard 5/29 to 6/12 (this past Sunday). We had Captain Mal Bardsnes and he’s still onboard this week as well. So Mal is on until at least June 19. 
 

Also, Captain Michael Lindberg returned today to Miami, not Port Canaveral (Indy). He will be the master on Freedom for an undetermined period of time.

wow hard name to pronounce.  Wonder if I will have this person in late August.  Even so, most captains are very nice and very knowledgeable.  some are a bit shy though.

sailed with him, he's one of the invisible ones. But then again I sailed with him when he was in his first year as a master. Perhaps he's mellowed since then.
