For our may cruise, the min bid for a jr suite is $200pp or $400 total. The gty jr suite comes to just over $900 total.

I'm torn, part of me really wants to just call in the gty and get the double points. But I'll loss our current $100 obc.

I bid on both a jr suite and a grand suite.  they still have about 15 jr suites online and ZERO grand suites. Min bid on a grand suite is $350pp, i figured I'd be totally surprised if we won our 1st grand suite experience . We wouldn't have been able to afford the $6k+ original price for the room when we booked in September.

If we get a jr suite, via the bid, we at least get to keep our $100 obc but still pay $400 extra and not get the double points. which means we'll have one more night before we turn platinum...

I would not do it for $400.  That's about our top price between a balcony and JS when we get the extra points.

You just want to show everyone you're in an upper loft suite 😉

On the Oasis Apr 7 booked in a Ocean View Balcony for 4 pax

Originally paid $2450 USD.

received the Royal UP email about 6 weeks ago. These were the starting bids:

Owner Suite - $800 pp

Grand Suite - $500 pp

Junior Suite - $200 pp

Ultra Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony (I believet this is the room for 6 pax with bunk beds) - $150 pp

Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony - $100 pp

Entered a bid for GS/JS/Ultra Spacious Ocean View. Fingers crossed.

GS for a total of $3400 on a 7 days Oasis for 4 people does not seem too bad. Considering I already purchased the Key for $280 total - and would refund it if I can get GS since it will have many of the perks as the Key.

So....since Oasis got cancelled. I rebooked on Harmony Apr out of Fort Lauderdale for about the same price, on Apr 28 sailing (it's $150 more on Harmony, for Boardwalk balcony stateroom 9xxx)

I received Royal UP almost immediately. Knowing the sailing is completely full, especially with some spillover from Oasis. I'm not going to put in a bid. But here's what the bid details were:

Junior Suite - $400 pp (this seems quite expensive)

Ultra Spacious Ocean View with Large Balcony - $250 pp

Spacious Ocean View (could be larger stateroom or larger balcony) - $200 pp

Ocean View Balcony - $100 pp

Cheers,

I am just curious, what is the minimum bid? And thanks for sharing this, most people only mention the minimum bid but there is usually quite a range between minimum and maximum bid.

min bid is usually slightly less than 1/3 of the max bid, so in this case would be something like $1500?

what kind of room did you have and what offers were given to upgrade to?

Thanks.

We had two cabins.

The inside had choice of OV, balcony, and spacious balcony.

The balcony did not get an invite, but I checked website mentioned above and were eligible for JS, GS, and non balcony 2 bedroom suite

I had the same offer screen for my Owners Loft...the only upgrade available is to Royal and since it is booked...you just play the "gee I hope they cancel" wait 😉

Min bid was $1500 for me and max was 5k and 3 weeks the max bid became what my initial bid was...meaning that I couldn't raise my bid any higher....which tells me I set the high water mark with my bid and they decided they didn't need to collect anymore.....I sail in 4 days...and still haven't received a yes or no...which means its a no and that the people in the royal didn't cancel.

Although I already bid I went back and did a modify and could see the lowest bid available was $1000.

I was wondering the same thing.  MY TA says this is not available but an Owner's Loft is available.  I was guessing this may be a cancellation but not sure what the TAs are privy too.  One thing for sure the Royal Program is an excellent data mining tool.  Do you realize how much database information they are getting from every person that is or is not bidding on these and how much.  This will probably affect direct marketing of rooms etc in the future.

what is your best guess as to why they put the bid out initially for the Royal Suite?  You think it was to see how much bidding would take place and it never existed in the first place?

I think they put all cabins out for bid as an upgrade simply because stuff happens.  Right up until that boat casts off lines there is a chance someone will not show/will cancel.  This way they can surprise and delight a customer at any point with an upgrade because they have a list ready to go.  When I booked my room I wanted the Royal but the guy at the casino was like "sorry, it is booked and..(i heard some typing)....appears to have already been paid in full"...so I knew there was little chance of getting the upgrade...I bid for it anyway just in case.

I finally got the Royal Up! email.

The prices are too rich for my blood for a short cruise. We have an ocean view balcony on Symphony OTS.

These are the lowest possible bids for each category.

I am going to submit for the JS at the $150pp and see if we get it.

If that $150pp is for a 7-night cruise, that's not bad.

It's a three night, sadly. BUT, I would enjoy a JS for $100 more per day.

Too much for us for a 3-night, especially since there are no extra C&A points.

Another thing they are doing with this data is seeing what people will pay for specific rooms. Maybe even in relation to specific ships/itineraries. This will almost certainly make its way into initial room pricing at some point.

Make sure you check the JS pricing for upgrading yourself.  It worked out cheaper for us to upgrade ourselves (and get double points) on a 3 night HM sailing then they wanted for us to bid for it  price dropped on them

JS doesn't show as available. These are the two suite class for this sailing that show with the current price.
