manazca Posted December 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted December 17, 2018 We’ve only been on the Oasis ships from RCI (currently on Symphony 😏) and loved it but feel it is about time to try something new in the future. Our daughter loves the Adventure Ocean club and my husband likes the Promenade while I enjoy the park. What Celebrity ships would be similar in category (or higher) to the Oasis ships? Also, did I understand right that we’d still get points for our RCI loyalty status when sailing Celebrity? Thanks a lot! I just need some ideas of what to start looking for. champagne123 Posted December 17, 2018 #2 Share Posted December 17, 2018 There are no other ships comparable to the Oasis class...although I still love the Celebrity brand. My fav is the Equinox
Oville Posted December 17, 2018 #3 Share Posted December 17, 2018 Agree, no Celebrity ship is the least bit like the Oasis, but the Solstice Class ships are all very nice.
Formerly known as Seabee Posted December 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted December 17, 2018 I don’t think you get RCI points for a X cruise. Nor would a Capt Club member get points for sailing with RCI. WHat you are entitled to is the equivalent club level on the sister cruise line. For example, a Diamond on RCI would receive Elite benefits on an X cruise, but no points would be accumulated toward the RCI loyalty program.
Rare hcat Posted December 17, 2018 #5 Share Posted December 17, 2018 None would fit this category. Oasis Class is pure Royal C, and a very large ship X ships do not feature promenades, there are no parades and no Central Park...some have a lawn but nothing around it other than rental cabanas and a restaurant on some. There's no Boardwalk, no carousel, no cotton candy or cupcake experience, no awesome spray park, no ice show flow rider, water show or zipline.....no cartoon characters.. Not sure of your dtr's age but there is no kiddie pool....They do have children's programming you can check out on the website..Many famiies enjoy X...they are diff style ship from Oasis.. Dining on X is superior to Royal...Royal has much better shows! You will not get any Royal Points for C and A but if you are Diamond on RC you will get Elite level.perks on X

If you enjoy the Oasis class, you may consider sticking with it .... nothing in the Celebrity fleet is close to the Oasis class ships. Not that this is a bad thing, we've always been more than pleased with the Celebrity fleet and would not consider going on a ship as large as those in the Oasis class. It's just a difference of likes and dislikes and have met many other Celebrity cruisers that feel the same way. Not sure how old your daughter is, but Celebrity doesn't cater to kids like RCCL does. We've been on over a dozen Celebrity sailings and have probably run into less than 20 kids all combined among all those cruises. This is just my experience. We've sailed on RCI a few times as well and to me, the demographics on this line are like day and night. The food is much better on Celebrity (again, in my experience) but the entertainment is better on RCI and activities are geared more to families. The indoor pool area hours for families are even limited to an hour late in the afternoon / early evening and the Aqua Class cabins have a capacity of two, thus, discouraging families on this level unless you book two rooms. That's my take on it, anyway. And, as others have noted, you will not get points for our RCI loyalty status ... you can get reciprocal benefits, depending on your status, but your points when you sail on Celebrity will only go towards your Celebrity loyalty status and you will start at zero. But, the reciprocal benefits are still great, again, depending on your level. They don't really start off being of much value until you are diamond on RCI, though ... which equates to elite on Celebrity.
manazca Posted December 17, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted December 17, 2018 Wow, thank you everyone! You are truly amazing! My daughter is 8 and she absolutely adores the Adventure Ocean here. We might have to stick with RCI for a few more years (we’re far from Diamond too) or maybe look into Disney cruises (but I’m worried I’ll get too much Disney for my taste). We are now on Symphony and it’s great but something just feels less satisfying than the sister ships... Service seems inferior and there are a lot of rude people 🙄 I figured it might be time to try a different line just to compare. Thanks again everyone! I think you will be happier ... and earn your Diamond status on RCI so you can enjoy the elite benefits when you decide to try Celebrity. And, BTW, we've met a lot of people that sail on Disney, even if they don't have kids and they absolutely love it. If it weren't so expensive, I would probably try it myself ... but think someone mentioned they don't have a casino onboard so that would be a deal breaker for us.
Rare chemmo Posted December 17, 2018 #9 Share Posted December 17, 2018 If you cruise on Celebrity expecting something different you may find you really enjoy...If you just want what you are presently experiencing you will be disappointed. We cruised almost exclusively RC when our son was young but as he got a bit older we ‘outgrew’ the need for full time entertainment, action and activity and warmed to a cruise which offered rest and relaxation....There comes a point where, especially on port intensive cruises, you don’t want to be busy all the time you are on board. Our take would be... RC has better family activities although both offer good clubs (we did miss mini golf on Celebrity). RC has better and more varied entertainment. RC has a wider range of family room choices. Celebrity, across the board (from suite dining, speciality restaurants and MDR) provides better food and food service. Not everyone may agree with this but as E+ and D+ I think we have enough experience to have an opinion! Service generally we find better on Celebrity. This ranges from bars to customer service to suite concierge. We generally find Celebrity ships have a better ‘flow’, you rarely feel part of a crowd. If, at present, you continue to want lots of family activities and entertainment then stick with RC but if you fancy trying a more relaxed cruise, a quieter experience...a cruise where you get off refreshed rather than exhausted then give Celebrity a go! dkjretired Posted December 18, 2018 #12 Share Posted December 18, 2018 If you are going during school vacations there will be a lot of families with kids, we did Celebrity with our children many times. Celebrity has excellent children’s programs just different from Royal.

Silvery Seas Cruiser Posted December 18, 2018 #15 Share Posted December 18, 2018 We have sailed every Oasis Class ship including the stunning new Symphony. We are D+ on Royal and E+ on Celebrity. I concur with those here who say Oasis Class ships have far better entertainment and far more activities at all hours including carousels, zip lines, Abyss , huge waters slides, children's pool area, flowriders, putt putt golf, ice rinks. None of those things are available on Celebrity. In Celebrity's favor, the food is better, generally speaking. The vibe is quieter, more laid back. Passengers tend to be much older than on Oasis Class ships. There is a nice supervised play area for children and the kids appear to be having fun, but I think Oasis Class ships children's area just blows Celebrity's away for design and features. Of course, that just doesn't mean that a child might not enjoy Celebrity every bit as much. Unlike others here, I say don"t wait until your child is older to try Celebrity because I think Celebrity is not especially a good cruise line for teens. One told us he'd never been so bored in his life! Younger kids are more adaptable.

Great feedback .Perfect for families....great kids programs....lower fares..lots of fun!

Our most recent cruise on Royal Caribbean was on the Explorer of the Seas. Wow ... that was the most beautifully maintained ship I've ever seen. However, even that ship was way too large for my tastes. Celebrity suits me much better. But, if you like those mega ships, like the Oasis class, I also suggest sticking with that line or maybe going on NCL. I agree with you ... and Celebrity just doesn't make sense to me if that is what one likes, especially for families.
