I want to bring a bottle of Champagne to celebrate with some family members going on their first cruise with us. Should I keep it with me in my carry on bag I will hand carry on board with my meds, or wrap it up in my suitcase I will leave to the stewards to bring to the room? casofilia Posted January 6, 2019 #6 Share Posted January 6, 2019 Carry it with you. If you leave it in your case they will keep the case and you will have to go and fetch it later.
GUT2407 Posted January 6, 2019 #7 Share Posted January 6, 2019 (edited) NCL FAQs Effective for sailings July 15, 2016 and beyond, guests are prohibited from bringing any beverages -- including liquor, beer and non-alcoholic drinks such as water, soft drink and juices -- on board either as carry-on or checked luggage, with the exception of purified or distilled water in factory-sealed containers for use in conjunction with medical devices or for the reconstitution of infant formula; and fully sealed and/or corked wine bottles for personal consumption onboard that is subject to screening and a corkage fee (for guests 21 years of age or older). Open beverages of any kind must be consumed or discarded at the security check-point, on embarkation day and at any port of call. This revised policy brings the company in line with other best practice travel security protocols and reduces the need for individual time consuming screening and package inspection of large volumes of beverages. GUT2407 Posted January 6, 2019 #8 Share Posted January 6, 2019 But Can I still bring wine on board?Yes, guests may bring sealed bottles of wine on board for personal consumption. They will be checked prior to embarkation and a corkage fee applied at that time of $15.00 USD for a 750 ml Bottle or $30.00 USD for a 1,500 ml Magnum bottle. Box wines are not allowed on board. If you put it in your checked luggage, your bags will be confiscated and taken to the "naughty room". On the first night of your cruise, you will spend [a lot of] time standing in a [long] line with all of the other guests with contraband in their luggage trying to get it out of security. You must hand carry it.

A misunderstanding perhaps. The rule is as stated, as many bottles of wine as you wish with the payment of the corkage fee.
renjrusa Posted January 6, 2019 #12 Share Posted January 6, 2019 Thanks going to put several plastic champagne glasses we didn't use for our New Years Party in my back pack too. If someone says anything about carrying it onboard may have an impromptu toast before embarkation....

Just want to add though, we brought a bottle of Moet, a wedding gift from friends. I went to the Atrium bar and asked for 2 wine glasses and they were more than happy to supply them... just in case you could use the extra space but I love your idea... Cheers 🥂
Linda the Book Lover Posted January 6, 2019 #14 Share Posted January 6, 2019 I never had an issue bringing wine on board. Recently on my POA (2018) cruise I brought on four bottles and was sent to the table to pay corkage and that was that.
Fishkillbill Posted January 6, 2019 #15 Share Posted January 6, 2019 So, I can bring four bottles of wine, in my carryon bag and drink them in my room, with no charge.
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted January 6, 2019 #16 Share Posted January 6, 2019 No. you can bring 4 bottles of wine on the ship in your carryon bag and pay the $15 corkage fee and drink your wine anywhere on the ship. If you don't pay the corkage fee, chances are, the staff will take your wine and hold it for you until you disembark. And yes, I know, some will say they had to problem bringing wine onboard without paying the fee, but, that's the exception rather than the rule. Shidah Posted January 6, 2019 #17 Share Posted January 6, 2019 This has been answered at least 3 times in this post already, you pay the corkage fee upon checking for your cruise.

No. You pay corkage on every bottle, regardless on where it is consumed.
AtMaui Posted January 11, 2019 #19 Share Posted January 11, 2019 If I take one of my bottles of wine to a restaurant and don't drink the whole bottle, will they put my name and cabin on it and I can request it the next night for dinner in any restaurant?
