Carnival Cabin TV Channels

Although I'm almost Diamond, I haven't cruised Carnival in over a year because of the changes the brand has undergone.  Can recent Carnival cruisers please tell me whether Carnival still does not carry ABC, NBC, CBS TV channels in cabins?  I'd like to know before I make my vacation plans this year.  Thanks.

CBSN - a CBS streaming news network, some kids programming, Carnival channels, not much.

Most mainstream cruise lines x’ed the networks due to the satellite feeds going thru the roof.....welcome back

Just got off.  CBSN is as described above.  No other alphabet channels you want.  

 

In my review I will mention that our biggest gripe is that those who want to unplug, there is no way like before

on tv nor fun times , nor hub app which shows current temperature at ports!

App had temperatures but not even close to accurate weather

They changed channels recently according to John Herald. Did away with CNN channels and rest of Turner. Added food channel, Discoery Nicolodeon News channel is CBS streaming news and Carnival stations

In December, they had CNN (USA, INTERNATIONAL, AND SPANISH), HEADLINE NEWS, TCM, and several sports and kids channels

On the Dream from 1/6 to 1/13 they had these channels. They also had TBS, I think.

Beats me. We watched Friends some nights, so it was one of the cable channels. Maybe it was Nickleodeon, since that is the one we see it on at home.

 

I believe there was also the Cartoon Network.

 

They also have a movie channel showing a different group of 4-5 movies each day. If you catch the channel between movies, they have a schedule on the screen. I took a picture of these, since I otherwise would have no idea what movie was on if we switches to that channel.

The Discovery, Food Channel and HGTV were just looped shows. By that I mean the same thing played every day, it wasn't like real tv. The CBSN was a joke, not much news there, mostly just political talk articles. There was a couple of cartoon channels.

You could read the newsfeed at the bottom of the CBSN channel. Early in the day they were up to date.  Later they were repeated.  But better than the yakking pundits on CNN.  Agree that the others are looped shows with no commercials. Still better than the overdose of cartoon channels.  And sure beats the Happy Days repeats and CNN Headline News blasting the Lido deck at 7AM.

I think they actually have as many or more cartoon channels with the new lineup—at least the one I saw posted. I don’t care about that or cnn. The loss is stations like tbs, tnt, trutv being swapped out for food, travel, and discovery channels

 

i havent seen the news played on lido on any of my cruises. I have seen people ask John Heald for that but every time he puts a poll up it’s voted down.

IMO,,,Bottom line.  There is absolutely NOTHING on cabin T.V. that anyone would want to watch,,,,,but why go on a cruise to watch T.V. in your cabin anyway?

I remember being on a cruise once and the only thing showing all week other than the news channels was Little House on the Prairie. I was close to jumping in the sea (and I don't even spend that much time in my cabin!)

Nobody said what's on tv dictates their cruise choices. Everyone doesn't go off the ships while in ports that they've been to several times, or that tender to islands that are just beach stuff. There is absolutely nothing to do on the ships till after noon, so if it's a port day, we go to breakfast, people watch for a while and go back to the room to relax, so the tv will be on to see if there's anything interesting. We may go sit on the balcony and watch the world go by, or we may get off and wander around the shopping area for a bit. The same thing applies to sea days, except after breakfast we go to the casino for a while before the smoke gets intolerable then we go back to the room and watch tv or watch the ocean go by on the balcony until there is something we want to do.  We cruise because we enjoy being on the water and the shipboard life.  We were both fortunate to be Florida natives and have always lived by or near beaches, have owned boats, have actually taken our boat to the Bahamas and currently live on the river, so laying out in the sun by a crowded pool doesn't apppeal to us, especially if you've had a few skin cancers cut off!  So basically I'm saying we do enjoy watching tv when there is something to watch.

yadda, yadda, yadda, no one said anything about TV dictating your vacation. Sometimes after a long day of excursions and drinking, you might want to kick back on the bed and turn on the TV and relax or nap before getting ready for dinner.

Exactly.  Whether it's just hanging out in bed watching TruTV's "Funniest" or "Impractical Jokers" while my wife gets ready....or watching some "Friends" reruns while munching on some room service late night eats....it's nice to have good channels to choose from.

Yep. I turn it on right when I wake up. Leave it on until I leave the room. Turn it back on while I'm getting ready for dinner. Turn it back on for up to an hour before I go to sleep. It doesn't dictate my vacation. I just like to have something to watch during those three periods of the day that I'm in the room. It's not like I'm wanting to skip excursions to watch the young and the restless or anything.
