Upgraded from OV to OV mini suite

As the title says, I initially paid for a Fiesta deck ocean view on Coral Princess. Got an offer from the Cruiseline through my travel agent to upgrade to a mini suite. My agent said it was very well worth it because I’d be saving substantially from what I paid.

So, I WAS midship deck 5, but now at the very front on deck 10. It is C203 oceanview mini suite. Anyone know how much more room, perks and whatnots I’d be expecting? Pictures or videos??

I know on deck 10 (caribe) I can walk straight back to aft and go through the employees only doors to go in the “observation deck” that is semi private.

Thank y’all.

Your space is almost double the oceanview room.

There are not a lot of perks associated with a window mini suite, beyond the extra room.  There’s an extra chair, a sofa bed, and a tub and shower.

Based on the narrative of the opening post I am not sure of (1) whether this was a complimentary upgrade or a paid upsell (sorta sounds like the latter but maybe not); and especially (2) whether your travel agent made it perfectly clear you were moving to a window mini-suite or you just discovered that on your own when checking the cabin number against the deck plans. Wouldn't surprise me one bit if the TA implied you were moving to a regular mini with a balcony (given how enthusiastic about the upgrade you say they were) as I would consider it a safe bet that the large majority of them have no idea that those eight window minis even exist on Coral and Island.

@fishywood

I originally was in F504 which used to be a part if the casino on Coral. They added cabins so the cabins have the large picture windows.

I asked my travel agent for more information. She stated it was ocean view mini suite. No balcony. I was fine with that.

Now the 8 mini windows, can you elaborate on that?? Thank you.

Sounded like a paid upsell. Also no idea this cabin existed

Was just noting that there are eight of those specific type of cabins on Coral (and Island) Princess. A small enough quantity for the category to be entirely overlooked by agents, or potential passengers when searching for cabins. Their location all the way forward makes them even less remarkable--but as you found out a potential deal for those in the know (like your agent).

I am just elated to get in a suite. Granted it is all the way forward. I’ve always been midship, but I’m willing to try new things. If I don’t like it, I won’t repeat it. I’d like to think I’m the kinda guy who likes to say “don’t knock it until you’ve tried it.”

This will be my 25th wedding anniversary gift for my wife. She grew up dirt poor and since we’ve been together, she has seen a LOT of the U.S. and all of the Caribbean.

It's not a suite.  It's a mini-suite.  There's a HUGE difference.  The minis come with very few perks.  Here's your perks, which are basically useless but I think you'll really love all the extra space and two TVs (if this particular cabin arrangement comes with 2).

Mini-Suite Perks

Yes I know it’s a mini suite. In the post above yours I said suite. My bad. I know it’s a mini.

Okay, no problem.  It's just when you called it a "suite" I didn't want you to expect it to come with suite-like perks.  A lot of people think they have a suite and they don't.  I guess that could be a good thing though.  :classic_biggrin:  Most Princess cruisers won't stay in a mini-suite for the perks but they do stay in them for the extra space.  I think the thing that is the nicest is having a bathtub.  It makes it so much easier for girls to shave their legs so your wife will probably thank you for that.

Truthfully my wife is just tickled pink about going on our 3rd cruise (Alaska; Coral) and 4th in February (NCL East Caribbean, again). She said whatever I get is a blessing. 🙂

These are great cabins and this is how Princess upgrades to these cabins is for people in OV. Those in a balcony would not want these cabins as they want a balcony.

I hope you love your upgrade.

Too bad when they were making these cabins, they couldn't have made them into WS's!!!  Now that would have been wonderful!

Well since their location all the way forward into the hull precluded a balcony likely it also precluded having a suite-sized bathroom without wiping out the additional space that allowed them to be sold as window minis rather than just plain OVs.

And don't give Princess any ideas--with so many fans of the Window Suites they could just lay on the minibar and upgraded linens & accessories, jack up the price, call it a WS and see if it fools 'em...🤐

You should be entitled to a "welcome aboard" glass of wine. We sailed in a window mini and it was great. The forward observation deck doesn't have furniture but it's just a few steps away from your door. It's the same size as a regular mini suite but the balcony area is included in the inside footage so there's plenty of room. We enjoyed the cabin. Have a great cruise.

The extra room will be great. You will enjoy the sofa as well as the tub.  While no balcony the large windows do provide lots of light and at least a limited view from your room.

We both boarded in Alaska feeling fine. By the second day of the southbound cruise a large portion of the passengers were suffering from a terrible cold that someone brought aboard. It was really nasty. We were docked in Ketchikan on July 4th and my wife was pretty sick. We were able to see the 4th of July parade go by out of the window of the cabin. Unlike many ocean view cabins the bed was nowhere near the window.
